I'd come out of a long relationship whee I only stayed becuase his mother was dying od cancer.
Fell in love/lust with a guy while seeing some muppet, who treated me like a princess and irritated the life out of me so finished with him and waited for this other guy to finish with his girlfriend who according to the bloke and various others sources, tried to kill herself so we didn't ever get it together properly.
Went on holiay to florida with this bloke and my best mate and her boyfriend who recently had become an ex as well! Had a fab time, met up with my mate in Key West.

Came home and the next day bumped into my now Dp who used to be a DB at college. Went out with him and that was all 10 years ago.

It's funny seeing this thread because just yesterday a great friend called to ask me if I remembered what I was doing ten years ago that day. I didn't, but she did because I was driving to the airport to collect her - she had been my flatmate in Los Angeles and was moving here to start a new life after some years of moving around. Ten years on she's engaged to a lovely man, about to buy a house and expecting her first baby (at 42) . So that got me thinking a lot about the last ten years. Ten years ago I had just moved in with my now dh, my parents were still alive, I had a great job for a film producer, which I loved, and had just started being paid to write. Ten years on I still have dh (and three children), I still sometimes get paid to write but the career has stalled, and my parents have both died. So it has been an extraordinary decade for me - both positive and negative. Hmmm, lots to think about.

On maternity leave with 6 week old dd1. Sunny, bewildering days.

Was in the middle of University, living in the Lake District on the tail end of a big relationship break up with now ex-fiancee and about to walk into the biggest mistake of my life - getting together with my now ex-husband.

Now, living in France, self employed, in my 3rd big relationship and have 3 wonderful children.

Some seriously awful shit has happened in between but, for the most part, optimistically happy.

How you doing YG? I've been away from MN for a while for one reason or another and just caught up with your sad news. Sorry if I'm dragging it up but I don't doubt you haven't stopped thinking about it for even a second.
