Living in Edinburgh - has just moved in with boyfriend (now DH) in a flat just round the corner from where we live now. We'd both just graduated and we were working 100 hour weeks but enjoying earning. I was 24 and desperate to get married and start breeding!

mustrunmore · 25/09/2006 21:09

Was 22. Had just done my PGCE, moved to London with first husband, and in the process of divorce. Having a great time with my new freedom though!

HRHQueenOfQuotes · 25/09/2006 21:11

TheRealCam · 25/09/2006 21:12

i was just starting my gcse's at 15 and more importantly a size 6 never to be again

WideWebWitch · 25/09/2006 21:18

Sept 96: I was 29, living in a gorgeous flat near Lancaster Gate tube and the fountains in Hyde Park, had just left my long term live in boyf amd moved out of our flat in Chiswick and had started shagging a friend from work off and on. Was working in corporate job, reasonably well paid, went out a lot, v busy social life, smoked like a chimney, lots of admirers.

Got pregnant in Jan 07 by said friend from work (who is now very lovely ex dh) and the product of that, ds, is nearly 9 and asleep upstairs. I don't regret any of it, I can't believe it's been nearly 10 years really.

Great thread YG.

albosmum · 25/09/2006 21:19

i was 27 just about to celebrate ds1 1st birthday, start a new job, buy our first house and struggling financially - ds1 is now in year 6 our lives have changed so much for the better. Its gone so quickly

TitianRed · 25/09/2006 21:19

Just starting my second year of teaching and going out with a couple of blokes called Colin and Eric (not simultaneously!) Had also just moved into my first flat and was VERY houseproud (how times have changed - my mugs even had set places in the cupboard. Now they're lucky if they make it back into the cupboard, as we tend to use them straight from the dishwasher!) Good times, though.

kitegirl · 25/09/2006 21:24

I was 25
married to husband no 1, had just moved to London and started a new job at a v hardcore investment bank
discovered a trance night at Fridge in Brixton and fried my brains at weekends

hulababy · 25/09/2006 21:26

September 1996: aged 23.

I had left uni that summer, having gradutaed with a teaching degree. In September I moved in with my then boyfriend (now DH) to our first (rented) home, and I started my first teaching post. Had much less money and hardly ever managed to go out at that time, but had a great time together

Posey · 25/09/2006 21:27

This is a really interesting thread, good one

Anyway it is also pretty spookily timed too, cos 10 years ago TODAY dd was conceived!!!!
We'd been in our new flat (still here) 2 months, married 7 months, I was 27, and we'd just been to some very good friends' wedding. A drunken bonk later and dd was on the way

noonar · 25/09/2006 21:27

i was 24, newly qualified teacher, working in brighton- still am. living with dh- then dp. still am. god i'm boring.

noonar · 25/09/2006 21:28

anteater · 25/09/2006 21:31

Very coincidental noonar. I'm not teaching naymore, but still living in same city - just opposite side.

noonar · 25/09/2006 22:00

what are you doing now??? have you seen my leaving teacher/ SAHM thread? fascinating stuff, so many of us!

noonar · 25/09/2006 22:02

sorry for hijack!

bonkerz · 25/09/2006 22:03

Oh the good old days.

10 Years ago i had just finished college and was working 5 hours a day as a nanny, 3 hours a day as a telephone operator and was earning about £400 a week! had a small flat and an excellent social life and a very nice boyfriend not to mention loads of mates.

DumbledoresGirl · 25/09/2006 22:06

I was 3 months in to motherhood. Still enjoying being a SAHM at that time and still in the money, having only given up full time work 6 months earlier. Dh, ds1 and I lived in Rugby.

We have moved several times since then and I have 3 other children now, and no money and hate being a SAHM, but otherwise, nothing essential has changed. How boring!
