I was working as a boarding house assistant in a preparatory boarding school near Alderley Edge in Cheshire with lots of v rich kids during the week. I loved it. At weekends I was metamorphising back into the crustie/indie kid clubber I really wanted to be. ! (I was 22)

whoopsfallenoveragain · 25/09/2006 22:37

I was 19! finding out that you really should know someone well when agreeing to share a flat as she turned out to be a bit of a psycho!
Was working as a lifeguard, gymnastics, trampolining & swimming instructor! I can only dream of trampolining noe as I would probably knock my head off now
Could go where I wanted when I wanted!

Ten years ago tomorrow I met dw !

Crumbs.

I was working in Holborn as a young computer person for a company which did whizz bang stuff with financial data on PCs, and went out for a drink with my boss and a client after work one evening.

DW was there was a fellow student (she was studying law at the time) and looked mighty fine. As I was leaving I looked back to catch her eye... She waved, and so I thought rather than disappear off I should go over and stun her with my witty repartie and debonnaire good looks. I gave her my number and we had lunch a few days later. The rest, as they say, is history.

Awwwwwwwwwwww.

Ten years ago this minute I was probably sitting in exactly the same place as I am now - I was 40, DS was 8 & DD 6 & I was a SAHM but working part time typing stuff for a friend of DH - I used to do it after the kids were in bed - I have just realised that 10 years ago my desk was exactly where it is now.

nulnulcat · 25/09/2006 23:04

i was 25 had just jilted someone, was modelling and temping and having a fling with my boss. left all of it to work for an airline and see the world and married the ex i had dated from 18 - 23! he now ex h but i am gratefull for dd so it was all worth it.

oh and i was probably partying hard drinking too much taking illegal substances and not remembering most of it!!

prettymum · 25/09/2006 23:07

Kelly1978 · 25/09/2006 23:09

Interesting thread! I was 18, off to uni, with hopes and aspirations that were never to be realised. I ended up with four adorable children instead, but a life I never imagined.

swedishmum · 26/09/2006 00:09

7 mnths pg with dd aged 2 and dd2 aged 10 mnths (had already lost one baby as dd2 was a twin). Still lived near civilisation.

wabbitt · 26/09/2006 00:12

I was mid-way through a 9 year relationship with an alcoholic - probably just waking up to the fact that love can't make someone need alcohol less or mend a damaged personality...

He was very clever at undermining my confidence and I can't believe the things I gave up just to 'be there' for him and endlessly sit and watch tv so he didn't have to feel so inadequate

I don't miss the frequent character assasinations or the arguing!

Vaguely wonder if ex is still alive or if he finished himself off with one of his massive epileptic fits

CJinSussex · 26/09/2006 00:26

Was wearing suits and commuting to London. Was boffing postroom boy who was about 10 years my junior. Was mostly drunk.

It took me bloody ages to remember that. The mid 90's were a bit of a waste of my time.
