I know he has lots of admirers on here

don't understand why md doesn't just quickly post saying i was silly, didn't think, in flippant mood etc before it gets any worse

catsmother · 20/09/2006 22:24

I hope he pulls through ..... I think he's a lovely bloke, whatever your views on Top Gear and to wish him dead because he's a "middle class white man" is a totally pathetic thing to say.

He has 2 little girls and a wife.

Do you still think he, or they, somehow "deserves" to die for the crime of being born with a white skin and presenting a car programme ?

If those are your reasons for saying what you did, then you're a racist. Can you imagine the furore if another poster had referred to "despising" black or asian men (their class is irrelevant) and saying you're glad they might die.

HRHQueenOfQuotes · 20/09/2006 22:26

"5ft 7 is teeny, QuofQuo..."

well not compared to me it's not........but then I'm only 5ft - mind you my parents are both 5ft 7 and they don't look 'short'.

have you no heart moondog, just because he does something you disagree with...you wish him dead?

mazzystar · 20/09/2006 22:27

Far from it, Donnie.

But I object to the fact that he wind up dead for the sake of pointless stunt on a shite telly programme.

HuwEdwards · 20/09/2006 22:28

was hoping you wouldn't see this YG

Wordsmith · 20/09/2006 22:28

I just reckon some MNers (we all know who they are) think they are so clever and witty they can say whatever they like about tragic and unfortunate situations and everyone else will say "oh well, it's only so-and-so, that's what she's like." Well it's not big and it's not clever. And it's certainly not witty or ironic. Iam probably last in the line as a fan of Top Gear but lots of people like it and anyway what the F* does that have to do with the fact that someone has seriously injured themselves in the line of work?

Why are you not apologising for your comment?

Do you stand by it?

I can't believe how much that has upset me

Ulysees · 20/09/2006 22:29

I have everything crossed for him, I think he's fab and can't imagine what his family is going through

hulababy · 20/09/2006 22:31

Ulysees - I hope YG doesn't mind me answering for her. YG lost her husband last month, whilst on holiday. It wasn't a car accident. However still a family man taken before his time, leaving a wife and two little girls

Really sorry you had to read such a heartless comment YG.

donnie · 20/09/2006 22:31

misdee · 20/09/2006 22:32

Crystaltips · 20/09/2006 22:32

is monndog always this controvertial ???

expatinscotland · 20/09/2006 22:32

Just saw this.

How awful!

HRHQueenOfQuotes · 20/09/2006 22:32

have to say I'm shocked by MD's comments - totally uncalled for. Whatever you may think of the programme (DH and I actually quite enjoy it, always good for a laugh - and I'm as working class as they come, and DH is black and doeesn't think any of them are middle class idiots) there's no reason to say anything like that. A young father of two beautiful girls could die tonight and you're saying 'good'!

Joolstoo · 20/09/2006 22:33

Agree with your post Wordsmith - I wondered what the value of the programme has to do with anything
