...whilst filming for Top Gear. Saw it on BBC3 news , something about it here .

I know he has lots of admirers on here

Quote from James May on Wikipedia:

"After visiting Hammond in the hospital, May remarked: "I was chuffed to see him and although he's muttering, he seems much like the irritating little shit I know and love. Even when he can't say much, he seemed to make as much sense as he does when he can talk normally...Having seen him today I do believe Richard will make a full recovery from this awful crash and, when he's back on his feet, I'm looking forward to going down to the pub with him."

Sounds positive

Fingers crossed.

Mascaraohara · 22/09/2006 10:01

Hunker that quote is quite positive

I want to get all three of them (RH, JC and JM) and have a group hug! They make you feel like you know them..

Really? Nothing on BBC of that yet. I hope so.

lanismum · 22/09/2006 10:39

sounds brilliant

hulababy · 22/09/2006 10:41

Found it here on ITV news

"Doctors said Top Gear presenter Richard Hammond had been moved out of intensive care and was making 'satisfactory progress'."

LIZS · 22/09/2006 10:45

Encouraging news

IvortheEngine · 22/09/2006 10:49

I'm so pleased to read such a positive quote. I think of him each morning and check the teletext for news as does ds who likes Top Gear. I hope very much that he continues to make progress and makes a full recovery in due course.

RTKangaMummy · 22/09/2006 10:59

UrsulatheSeaWitch · 22/09/2006 11:01

Another nice bit:

hunkermunker · 22/09/2006 11:02

Just caught a bit of This Morning - his condition has been downgraded from serious but stable to stable.

Apparently after the crash, he'd asked to do a piece to camera to explain what had happened and complained of lower back pain. Jeremy Clarkson told him he was a "crap driver" in hospital and RH had smiled and tried to sit up.

UrsulatheSeaWitch · 22/09/2006 11:03

hi, hunker

hunkermunker · 22/09/2006 11:48

we love him here and v upset by the accident - blimey,he's a popular bloke it seems ! really wish him well ..

Flossam · 22/09/2006 13:22

Hope there is nothing spinal there too then if he was complaining of lower back pain.

Personally I think RH is rather lovely and was very sad about what has happened. If I were his wife and he makes a full recovery I think he would be toning down his TG antics to say the least.

ruty · 22/09/2006 13:48

oh manitz. I was hit by a car at 13 and always thank God my head was OK [my body was a bit messed up] Must be hard for your family. xxx
