Jimjams2 · 21/09/2006 19:46

Just the word significant fio (not sure it's that new though- think they released that a while ago).

HRHQueenOfQuotes · 21/09/2006 19:47

ooo that's Aero - didn't realised I'd stuffed the last one up

Milge · 21/09/2006 19:49

Wishing him a speedy and full recovery. I feel so for his wife and children. If she is a MNr, I hope she sees all the positive messages.

catsmother · 21/09/2006 20:41

I feel sorry for James may too (though obviously not to the same degree). It's all come out that he was supposed to have done that piece but due to various diary clashes it was changed about a week ago.

Obviously he is in no way to blame but you can imagine, can't you, that he will be thinking "it should have been me" and feeling bad about it because Richard has children and he doesn't.

hulababy · 21/09/2006 20:45

Oh no, really? Poor James

anniediv · 21/09/2006 20:47

The' just giving' page for Yorkshire Air Ambulance has got over £17, 000 on it! Maybe his wife will read through all the good wishes on there too.

SnowBoo · 21/09/2006 20:47

Theres a donation post on another web. They are raising money for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance as a thankyou for getting RH to hosp in double quick time. So far they have raised over £16,000.
Anyone interested in donating?

SnowBoo · 21/09/2006 20:50

D'oh. Takes me ages to type

anniediv · 21/09/2006 20:52

snowboo!

TeenyB · 21/09/2006 20:58

I thought that you might be interested in this lastest news piece about RH posted on Sky news about 30 minutes ago. In particular the comments made by James May when he visited RH in hospital today: -

Richard Latest

I know that it is probably too early to know, but sounds positive at least.

SnowBoo · 21/09/2006 21:00

Wow that sounds like hope. fingers crossed for him

hulababy · 21/09/2006 21:00

She added that May had expressed himself "absolutely delighted" after seeing his colleague recovering in hospital.

May said: "Despite everything he's been through, he still seems like the Richard I know and love."

That sounds quite positive. I hope so.

Jaffacake1 · 21/09/2006 21:11

lots of love to Hammond and family

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

HRHQueenOfQuotes · 21/09/2006 21:13

that does sound positive. Fingers crossed

Serious brain injury sounds bad

I have vg friend who is prof of psychology in NY and does research into brain injury - it can change your entire personality and destroy your life. Let's hope he doesn't have one of those

Quadrophenia · 21/09/2006 22:49

I've been talking to a friend who knows loads about brain injury and she was saying that its possible its an acceleration/deceleration injury which can be catastrophic particulalry if he has damge to his brain stem or frontal lobes. She sadly lost her mother who too worked in Brain injury, to a fatal impact injury last year and this was from falling down some stairs

Loshad · 21/09/2006 22:50

He's in a good place for treatment though, hope he improves beyond their prognosis. Air ambulance is a fab thing, they airlifted my DH a few years ago and i've been in their debt ever since.

2shoes · 21/09/2006 22:50

to be posotive I know someone who "died" had to be resusitated and had a brain injury
now just has epilepsy
I am sure his family were warned thing were bad when it happened

lanismum · 21/09/2006 23:55

i saw on the news tomorrows headlines on one of the papers, it said that jeremy clarkson had told richard hammond he was a shit driver and he had raised a smile from him, its thats true that sounds brilliant!

anniediv · 21/09/2006 23:56

The 'just giving' page is nearly up to £25,500 (in aid of Yorkshire Air Ambulance that rescued him)

satine · 22/09/2006 00:17

MN has a rather troll-y side to her, I think - loves to light the touch paper and then retire to watch the fireworks from a distance.

satine · 22/09/2006 00:18

Crap! I meant MD, not MN! Blimey, def bed time.

bluesky · 22/09/2006 09:48

With brain injury, they will need to wait 4-5 days for the swelling to go down, so they can see the impact and injury of what has happened. It is still really early days. Fingers crossed. It must all be so scary for his wife, family and friends.
