Touch a spider, am getting increasingly anxious about them

Frieda · 13/09/2006 21:59

I'm with Cod about motorways (even unfamiliar dual carriageways make me feel a bit queasy).

And, colditz ? we have a bit of damp downstairs and the sluggies love to come in at night. The other morning I came down early and felt something squidgy on the underside of my bare foot .

colditz · 13/09/2006 22:36

I would move out. I really would. Or never go downstair again. ew, how do you bear it?

moondog · 13/09/2006 22:41

Bake cakes
'Top up' a mobile phone (Eh?)
Get t'Internet up and running
Go to a soft play centre
Understand what is meant by reception, nursery, year 1 and so on
MSN (double 'eh??')
Drive a left hand drive (althoguh did all summer in Turkey)
Keep track of standing orders
Grow plants

Lilymaid · 13/09/2006 22:42

Telephoning - even friends (worried that I've phoned at the wrong time). Thank heavens for e-mail.
Falling down stairs (ancient recurrent nightmare) now largely replaced by falling down a hill - we are keen hill walkers.
IH being killed in plane crash/motorway pile up; DS1 killed/attacked in city where he is at university.
If I really thought hard about driving anywhere I would be too worried to do so!

colditz · 13/09/2006 22:46

I hate you all now. I have to go and put my shoes on. I would rather tread in poo than on a slug.

Frieda · 14/09/2006 11:50

Oh, sorry, colditz. Didn't mean to upset. The thought is probably a lot worse than the reality ? I felt a bit revolted, but it was only a little one. Soon cleared up.

The thought of Cod cowering at the thought of foreign currency does make me smile a bit, though. If I'm ever hauled up before her, I'll make a point of whipping out a couple of foreign bank notes and waving them carelessly about in the courtroom. Or perhaps wearing one of those large chinese coins with a hole in it as a pendant, just to throw her .

ilovecaboose · 14/09/2006 11:55

I trod on a slug the other night in my kitchen (with bare feet). I went into complete hysterics . I hate the bastards and their life's aim seems to involve getting into my house (I have to hoover up the slug trails every morning).

Anything to do with frogs - even typing the name makes me shiver.

Can't deal with blood.

I do do phone calls now, but still prefer Dp to do it if he is home.

Also hate opening bills/bank statements etc. Though have got out of the habit of hiding them - I have a terrible fear of running out of money. My cupboards are always stocked just in case.

expatinscotland · 14/09/2006 11:56

hold a tarantula. they freak me out.

schneebly · 14/09/2006 11:57

driving in a motorway
touching (never mind eating) prawns

brokendoll · 14/09/2006 11:59

Seeing as i haven't changed my name back.....

Eat properly

Don't want to explain - sorry.

nutcracker · 14/09/2006 12:00

Learn to drive

Visit a farm - I am scared of farm animals.

JessaJam · 14/09/2006 12:10

Making phone calls!

bossykate · 14/09/2006 12:11

drive on the motorway.

CheesyFeet · 14/09/2006 13:00

Doing the washing up to find floaty bits of food in the water brushing past your hands in the washing up bowl. Makes me shudder.

Anything to do with spiders.

ilovecaboose · 14/09/2006 13:16

agree wtih you about the washing up cheesy feet

suejoneziscalmernow · 14/09/2006 13:19

eat plums

Seashells · 14/09/2006 13:28

Touching raw meat
Using the phone
Sitting in waiting rooms
Emptying the hoover (was once a huge spider that I'd hoovered up still alive inside ewww)

Twinkie1 · 14/09/2006 13:33

Answer the phone - happened last time I had time away from work - I dread it and screen all of my calls.

Swim, wade, have anythig to do with water I cannot see through - I mean you don't know what is in there.

Use public toilets!!

Use different coloured pegs to hangt hings on the washing line - I know if I do something bad is going to happen.

Go anywhere near a bird - feathers and fleas (almost as bad as cats!!)

Go somewhere there are lots of people in case people I don't know brush against me.

PeachyClairHasBadHair · 14/09/2006 13:43

same as Cheesy, can't stand washing up water that is cold either; makes me feel really ill if Dh leaves plug out.

Not good with confined spaces, or crowds either, but only if crowd is a moving onew; fine if standing still, and I an remain still until it clears (which is the tactic I employ if I get caught in the grockel crowds here in summer)

sunnydelight · 14/09/2006 14:11

Be anywhere that it is truly pitch dark. I start hyperventilating

LieselVonTrapp · 14/09/2006 14:52

Cant go underground, subways or tubes/metros. Similarly dont like driving over bridges.
