Aahhhh - that's better... Deep breaths, calm down, next job may be just around the corner....

housemum · 14/08/2006 13:28

Have just given myself a laugh looking at the McGee website - not exactly professional looking! In the kids' pics there's a little girl holding someone's hand. If I were a casting director, there's no way I'd pick her even if she did have the "look" I wanted as I'd worry that she'd cry/play up if not with mum/dad/whoever.

this is not a criticism of Ms McGee personally in any way, shape or form!!!!

yackertyyack · 14/08/2006 13:29

mykids...totally not modelling related but did you find out where all your flys were comeing from a while back??? We have a similar thing but can't find anything and we have had the house apart - did they just go on there own accord??
SORRY to change subject totally!!!

mykidsmum · 14/08/2006 13:31

They did just go yackerty, i reckon it may have been a dead bird behind our fireplace, but I'm really not sure. I bought some fly spray and zapped a few, but its been on the news that lots of places are infested with flys this summer, due to the heat and fortnightly rubbish collections. So maybe its just flies coming in from outside? Hope you sort it, it drove me nuts, get some spray!

yackertyyack · 14/08/2006 13:38

cheers love, they are doing my head in and they make me feel really 'urgh' - will keep spraying them!!!

mykidsmum · 14/08/2006 13:40

no worries mate!

have just checked out website and it really is a case of 'no comment' I would love to but i just can't

lanismum · 14/08/2006 14:04

god just had a peek, the little girl that holding somebodys hand has what looks like dried on snot round her nose, and her collar is standing up, another older girl has greasy hair, and they have paid for these pics? sheesh.....

mykidsmum · 14/08/2006 14:06

Its rather worrying isn't it? pics are terrible

lanismum · 14/08/2006 14:06

i know the kids hair isnt the photographers fault, but it just looks horrible, yet they still took the money?

lanismum · 14/08/2006 14:07

makes me giggle cos when ua updated lanis pics, they cleaned her already spotless face, combed her already combed hair, checked for snot/boogies, and put some powder on her! she was well impressed with the powder brush

julie4travel · 14/08/2006 14:31

lanismum- quick question i know its a different agency , my dd has her photoshoot with ts in oct half term and they have put hair naturally worn on the form. My daughter has loads of hair (really curly )0 and always has either clips in or pigtails or something basically in order for her to see as it will cover her face. Did UA actually put up your dds hair for her , I just dont want my little one to look a bit wild haired for the photoshoot as I haven't put her hair up at all, any advise

also she loves wearing dresses as she is a real girley girl and i see it says to take tops and bottoms denim, t shirts (no large logos so dora and strawberry shortcake clothese out the window) skirts (thats ok) jeans she has 1 pair yet another barbie logo on them, do any of you take dresses for the shoot when they haven't said that is ok on the form?

i am only really used to boys clothing for jobs not girls and my ds has short hair so again i never have to worry about this!

mythumbelinas · 14/08/2006 14:38

haven't been on a few days again and so many things have happened ..
lanismum, ahhh CONGRATULATIONS!! your wish has come true
yackerty, well done on dd joining KL

wow everybody has been really busy with jobs and castings .. all the best!!

housemum · 14/08/2006 14:54

julie4travel - if they have specifically asked for tops & denim, that's what they want as if they are anything like NC they are trying to have some uniformity on the site. Do they take full length photos? NC only do head shots, so it wouldn't have mattered if DD had a dress or trousers, the only specification we had was bright colours, no pastels.

(I was v cheeky and bought 4 plain t-shirts in H & M, so I could ask them which they wanted on her, keep that one and took the others back next day!!) They did in fact keep her in the Minnie Mouse t-shirt she went in as they were only doing head shots and the Minnie logo didn't show.

It wouldn't do any harm to take a dress with you if you have the room as you'd kick yourself if you saw someone else's dd in a dress when you've forced yours into trousers. If she doesn't want to wear trousers, why not tell her they are her "work clothes" (or whatever bribe you think she'll go for) and that she can put her dress back on after?

housemum · 14/08/2006 14:55

BTW - the photographer told me to avoid yellow or pale greens - they can make faces look washed out/sallow.

housemum · 14/08/2006 15:25

Is anyone going to the kids' session at the Theatre Museum in Covent Garden on Wednesday? I booked a ticket ages ago and just went on the website to double check the time but the details have gone - it's got dates/times for next week instead!

julie4travel · 14/08/2006 15:52

housemum- think i will do the same as you on the t shirts! i am not sure if its just head shots or full length and the ts website is password coded so i cant nose at the other kids which is a shame!

mykidsmum · 14/08/2006 15:53

anyone off to asda casting tomorrow??

housemum · 14/08/2006 15:56

julie4travel - can you apply for a password? NC is password protected, I went on the site when DD first joined and requested a password - where it asked what company/position you were I just put "parent of model".

mythumbelinas · 14/08/2006 15:57

modelling front has been quiet for my kids, but excited that my nephew went to tesco casting last thurs and is booked for a job this wednesday

when dd1 did her model book shoot last yr, she was asked to be in plain top and denim. I took a selection as i just couldn't decide and they picked the denim but gave me one of their own tops. They did headshots and full length shots.

mythumbelinas · 14/08/2006 16:09

mrratty, you must be so proud to keep a huge pic of your dd's job from mothercare. Lucky you, i'm so envious! When i asked BHS if i could have the window display pic of my dd they said i had to send in a letter, which i did, but i never heard back. Later, my sis saw a different pic of my dd in BHS window and enquired, but got the same response .. i did however get dd to stand in front of her pic and snap away tho

cyan, i love the picturetrail for ds .. it's so good and he's so cute!!

julie4travel · 14/08/2006 16:10

thumsb - who are you with again?

i will steer clear of those colours thank you, i will buy a couple of plain tops and hide them from her so she doesn't wear them before the day!

i am not sure if i can apply for a password, i will email them to see

mythumbelinas · 14/08/2006 16:12

my dds are with KL
my nephew is with UA

mykidsmum · 14/08/2006 16:12

julie just ring them and ask, I would

mythumbelinas · 14/08/2006 16:16

mykidsmum, haven't heard of the asda casting, but i've kinda given up on dd1 getting anything .. i don't think she ever fitted the 4-6 year requirements.
She's turned 7 now, and i'm trying to think which agency would be good for older kids now, whether to stay with KL or not ...
