hi everybody my dd is 6 and just got a yes from
allsorts any info on them would be nice thanks alot.

julie4travel · 26/07/2006 08:13

sophiemum- sorry i don't know anything on them, their website looks nice. i haven't heard them mentioned before as one of the agencies that mn modelling forum people have mentioned being with yet you never know someone else may log on and give you some feedback. have you applied to any others or purely allsorts? normally i would say email to a few to see what is the best one for your child and go with your gut instict! Good Luck

mrratty · 26/07/2006 09:28

YummyMummy21 - The job is in New Cross. SE14 I think. Good luck for today.

Sophie - We went for an interview with Allsorts but didn't lke them. A boy was there who had had a professional portfolio dome and the agency women complained that the studio who did them was ruining her business so they obviously make a fair amount of money on the photos they take. They do get work for there children but the agency is massive and just wasn't for us.

mykidsmum · 26/07/2006 09:31

Hi Allie, cool 20 mins thats just not fair, how hot was it in central London yesterday????? I'm still sweating jut thinking about it!! We had a bonus in that a little boy dropped out so Dyl and and madeline were usd for sainsburys shoot cool eh?? oFF TO PLAY IN MY PADDLING POOL (woops sorry) and make the most of the holiday starting a job in september arrgghhhhhh!!

mrratty · 26/07/2006 09:35

mykidsmum - have you heard back form Asda. we haven't so are taking it as a no!!!

princessmel · 26/07/2006 09:53

Hi everyone,

Just wondering if anyone knows anything about licences? The bubblegum welcome pack has a form in there but its got loads of parts where you fill in stuff about the childs school and dd is only 11 months. The bgum lady on the phone said that with some jobs under 2's don't always need a licence but I need to organise one anyway.
Also on one of the forms there's a space where you put your bank details so that any earnings can be paid in. Is this normal? Just worry about posting off my sort code etc.

mykidsmum · 26/07/2006 09:53

Reckon its a no for us too, but nevermind it is very bloody hot at the mo so we might head off to cornwall tomorrow (thats if the van is fixed in time!!)

mrratty · 26/07/2006 09:56

TV jobs need a license so fill in the form ingnoring the bits about school as it's irrelivant at that age.
B&B ask for bank details to as they pay directly into the childs bank account. It is normal practice. I sent mime back by registered post as I didn't like the thought of someone opening it, thogh I had opened a new account just for her modelling money so the account was empty anyway!

mrratty · 26/07/2006 09:58

mykidsmum - cornwall at this time of year would be fab!!! Have a good time if you do decide to go.

mykidsmum · 26/07/2006 10:01

cheers Mrratty, it really is campervan dependent the bloody thing is costing me a small fortune

littlemadam · 26/07/2006 10:20

mykidsmum, would you recommend the whole campervan/motorhome thing? DH likes the idea of tootling off at a minutes notice, just like you, but do you have to book in advance for campsites or anything?

Would second Mrratty on the forms, we did them at the photoshoot, and some questions seem odd, but they are standard forms I guess so have to cope with all eventualities. Good luck with the JL shoots and everything else!

princessmel · 26/07/2006 10:22

Thats a really good idea about the new bank account mrratty, I hadn't thought of that. Thanks!

mykidsmum · 26/07/2006 10:32

we have a volkswagen 1971 campervan, its fab, a great scene we've met loads of cool people throught it and I would strongly recommend the whole get up and go thing (we've had ours two months and been away loads).

However, uit has to be a labour of love if you buy an older one like ours, we paid a fair bit for ours in campervan terms and so far it has

got stuck on the drive due to barrel locking (day one)
had a flat battery (day two)
broke down due to electrics fault (first holiday away)
broke down loads more due to same fault
had seatbelt stuck in sliding doors rendering them impossible to use
Dynamo shaft and fan belt broke causing the van to overheat and the engine to melt!

Asa you can see its been a right pain but we still love it, we are living the dream. my recommnedation would be to buy a motorhome if you really want one but only buy an old volkswagen if you can handle the stress

mykidsmum · 26/07/2006 10:34

oh and the campssite thing, I have never once booked depends though on what you want, some popular ones get really busy, I'm quite happy in a farmers field!

littlemadam · 26/07/2006 10:45

We are camper virgins, didn't know about where you could camp! We had a VW campervan when I was about 5 (embarrassingly long ago) and loved it, but are looking at others as VW pretty rare, think I saw a pic of yours its gorgeous

Would love Cornwall, and as we live in Leeds, a van might be handy for an early morning shoot!!!!

mrratty · 26/07/2006 10:53

We opened a new account so that we could keep expenses in there. What we plan to do is transfer most of the money into her savings account but keep some in her modelling account for long distance travel(which we can generally claim back) and any clothes etc she may need for shoots.

princessmel · 26/07/2006 10:58

Did you open the account in your name or her name? And who do you claim money back from, the agency?
Probably a really stupid question but how many people can actually sleep in a campervan? Or do you sleep in a tent next to it? Never been in a wv one, only my brothers state of the art flashy motorhome thing. That has pull down beds etc.

littlemadam · 26/07/2006 10:59

Anyone with older children, do you tell them how much they will earn on a shoot?? DS is 6 and I think he would reason that it should all be turned in to Playmobil
I tend to get him a a treat afterwards and then if he needs a bigger thing like new bike, let him get it with his money. What does everyone else do?

littlemadam · 26/07/2006 11:00

Mel, their name with you as trustee. We've been looking at pull down ones too, we had five in a VW one tho

mykidsmum · 26/07/2006 11:01

depends on the van, ours sleeps two but some have pop tops and can sleep 4-6, we have an awning attached to the side which the kids sleep in whilst we have comparitive luxury lookhereforvanpics

littlemadam · 26/07/2006 11:03

mykidsmum..love the van, and the bugjam looks fab!! Now tempted.....

mykidsmum · 26/07/2006 11:07

BugJam is incredible lots of vw peeps all having a festivally weekend, watching drag racing dubs and having fun!! i would recommend to all those who like that kind of thing!
