Isn't there a difference between slatternly and knackered? I mean, you have to prioritise, and children are more important than a spotless house - spending time with them, I mean, and cooking proper food. I'm sure if I fed them ready meals and cheestrings the house would be spotless

moondog · 30/06/2006 22:13

I will be murdered for saying this, but I don't find keeping the place clean and tidy too much of a chore.
I doubt I do more than an hour's housework (all in) a day.

But Moondog, your DH isn't always there to mess things up the way my DH does (he makes more mess than DD!)

MY dh is very tidy.

He reckons I am messy.
We are the original OCD couple.
Ds (23 mths) plays at cleaning bless him!

Gingerbear · 30/06/2006 22:17

On the other hand, it would drive me nuts if I had a DH that was ultra tidy and critical of how untidy the house was. (Soddin' do it yerself then!)

Gingerbear · 30/06/2006 22:18

, I wish I had picked one of those!

mogwai · 30/06/2006 22:19

moondog - I don't teach them. I do one to one interviews with prisoner's - kind of like internal career advise, what courses they should do, what education/training they need, how to imprive their future employment chances, etc. I also sit on sentence planning boards and help set them educational, training and rehabilitation targets as well as help make prelimanary decisions regarding recategorisation decisions. It is interesting.

Hi GB. Holiday was fab Must meet up with the girls!

Oblomov · 30/06/2006 22:22

I am very messy.
But yet, extremely organised and can find any paperwork within a mili-second.

Dh is very tidy.
I have a mad hour, just before he comes home.
But I think he knows.

Yes,it does sound interesting.
Do you ever feel scared?
I remember when you were starting!
When was that-18 months ago???

puff · 30/06/2006 22:24

en suites in every bedroom - sooooooo predictable

Snafu · 30/06/2006 22:26

Washing-up bowls full to the brim with scummy grey water and an assortment of cups, plates and cutlery bobbing around. Obviously been there for days.

I really hate it when I do home visits with work and, when I ask to wash if I can wash my hands, get directed to a grimy sink with no soap/handwash and no towel at all.

hulababy · 30/06/2006 22:27

moondog - I started doing one day a week teaching (Business Studies) in September 2004, then resigned teaching and started this new job at Easter 2005. I feel safer at the prison that at the secondary school I worked at! There are more controls and I have much more protection. Only had one incident so far which has had to resulkt in a Governer's adjucation - prisoner was found guilty and given extra days on his sentence (quite rare tohappen, but his offence to me was one in a series of others). Have to say though, that one incident was nothign when compared to what happened at the school more frequently!

I've got a bit of a thing about dishcloths, I change mine often since I'm sure they're full of germs. So a slimy dishcloth makes me wince a bit.
