Quite right Edam, if there's wee on the seat, I tend to judge the DH, not the DW!

EvesMama · 03/07/2006 09:59

no ones judging dw or dh???

Cappucino · 03/07/2006 10:03

evesmama I quote 'and the dust/muck between carpet and skirting board that 'gets missed'..get the hose shaped thingy out you lazy git!'

oh no, that's not judgemental at all

EvesMama · 03/07/2006 10:06

now now..its just a bit of fun, i do think this is manky, but have not see it at friends houses but when we were viewing houses..supposedly ready for showing to prospective buyers..think some are taking all this persoanlly..no ones saying xxx you are a dirty cow because xyz!

OP posts:
EvesMama · 03/07/2006 10:07

and my second to last comment was saying no one was judging DW's as opposed to DH's

OP posts:
Caligula · 03/07/2006 10:15

I don't know why, I just feel entitled to judge DH's in a way I don't with DW's...

Oh I'm so unfair.

EvesMama · 03/07/2006 10:26

no your not..your just saying what you think!

we bought a house once and she hadnt cleaned since we made the offer..bathroom was vile, brown stains below water mark in loo and what i thought was spilt black ink(??) in bath was just such a build up of muck..and yes i had to hoover between skirting boards here too
the mirrored wardrobes that were already in had so many mucky handprints on you had to actually find a gap between them to see into it!..even after i had scrubbed them with everythig but acid, you could still see the grimey marks when wet.
whats the pont in having mirrors if you cant see into them?

chandra - I don't get it?

Twiga · 03/07/2006 20:14

children's potties in the kitchen - yuk!

Jimjamskeepingoffvaxthreads · 03/07/2006 20:27

FioFio- SS are suspicious of houses that are too clean anyway. They wrote in their report that my house was "child centred" PMSL.

SSSandy · 03/07/2006 20:29

What made me go rather than urghh was white carpet in the kitchen (!) and bathroom (!!). Can you imagine it? It was really white too.

Nathanmum · 04/07/2006 03:22

how do you keep a kitchen carpet white in the kitchen? Sorry, but I know I couldn't even if I used the hose thing on the vacuum every day... Which obviously I do.... hmmm

SSSandy · 04/07/2006 09:37

What an idea though! I couldn't keep it white for a day. I'm forever mopping up the kitchen floor and it always needs it.

suzywong · 04/07/2006 09:39

Cat litter trays in the house
Cats arses on the kitchen surfaces (still attached to cat)
The smell of cat food
Get the buggers a compound at the bottom of the garden and only bring them in when you must stroke them fgs

Bozza · 04/07/2006 09:49

I have some friends who have a spotless kitchen. But they live off ready meals. Not so easy if you are cooking from scratch with the assistance of a 2yo who does things you lot would "urggh" at - like helping herself to cooking margerine straight from the tub or a little bit of the raw pastry.

tortoiseshell · 04/07/2006 09:54

Have only skim read, but someone coming to our house would BELIEVE we had no books, but they are all in 'non-public' rooms iyswim, as otherwise visiting children just pull them all on to the floor and wreck them. We have LOADS of books.

Potty in the kitchen - well, sometimes it's a choice between potty in the kitchen and wee/poo on the floor....

Angeliz · 04/07/2006 09:56

Bozza, i have a freind like that. She has a cleaner and lives from ready meals and her hosue is always immaculate.
I often feel very self coucious when people come here as i am quite houseproud but with a 5 year old, 15 month old, 7 months pregnant and getting the kitchen totally done out my house has been a tip for ages and tbh, any ANY time i get lately, i feel the need to rest as i am shattered so i've let it all slip!

EvesMama · 04/07/2006 09:59

if im making sandwhiches, my dd likes to pick up the butter and lick the butter..bleurgh!

Actually my house is much cleaner/tidier than normal but the garden is suffering as a consequence! My friend is talking about weaning her baby though so it might all change soon angeliz - might be welcome to the real world!

geekgrrl · 04/07/2006 10:05

sorry, qucik hijack - angeliz, have you been on your hols yet?

SSSandy · 04/07/2006 10:09

No idea how you keep a bathroom carpet clean!

Remember a man coming to stay with us and mum calling ds and I to come and have a look at the toilet. He'd splashed all over the walls and then obviously tried to wipe them down with toilet paper. Eek definitely need tiles.
