Following on from the thread about the Daily Mails article on School Fairs / Fetes......

Do you have any famous parents in your Childs School and do you try to blag decent raffle prizes out of them.

At my dd's school we have a Charlton Ath. Footballer - wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!

Apparently, the sister of that fella from celebrity big brother-can't remember his name but talks like paul ogrady!-is one of the mums at my kids' school---allegedly! very nice person she is too!

John Thompson used to come to our toddler group. It was really surreal.

Now an ex-corrie actor brings his daughter but he is so normal and sweet I had forgotten he is famous. Never watched corrie so guess that helps!

One of my friends used to teach math to Peter Ustinov's child, he also played tennis with him and... couldn't remember what was the name of the actor unless her wife helped her...

popsycal · 24/06/2006 15:31

I teach the children and a few semi famous people
and have taught two current premiership footballers when they were 10

I love that crouton Hegley poem!

He did another brilliant one:

Poem about not using tropical hardwoods because it diminishes the rain forests
------

this winter
I hope you get a splinter
if you make a toboggan
and it is a mahog'un

a woman who used to be a wife on Soldier Soldier used to have children aat our school till she moved to a village.
More interesting though is that I went to University at the same time as Jack Davenport and Tom Conti's daughter, Nina.

BadHair · 24/06/2006 17:35

Absolutely no famous parents at our school. Unless you count the ones who get in the papers every time they add another ASBO to their extensive collection.

I went to school with the children of Britain's Noisiest Shaggers (News of the World headline from 1986-ish). Double page spread in NotW on local couple who regularly had extremely noisy sex. Photos, addresses, the lot. Their kids were a year or two below me, and I was mortified for them.

expatinscotland · 24/06/2006 17:35

No. We're too poor for that.

southeastastra · 24/06/2006 17:54

do infamous local villans count?

sowoffended · 24/06/2006 17:57

Our area is too Expat...although one of the dads was one of Beckham's bodyguards - and he was always in the paper and on the TV with them, lol.

tangox3 · 24/06/2006 17:58

Natalie Portman lives in the penthouse of our apartment block while filming here in Toronto. I saw her in her pink PJs at 4am during the fire alarm last week. She's very nice.

Ds' little friend squirted her in the leg with a spray bottle at the crossing the other day and she turned around looking shocked, but laughed when she realized it wasn't a crazed fan stalking her!!

motherinferior · 24/06/2006 18:00

I kind of very much suspect rather not. Catford is not known for its celeb potential.

jamsambam · 24/06/2006 18:28

do you not think they might mind being paraded on mumsnet???

i went to school with quite a few famous names, one who im still friends with hates it when people start saying " my dauhters sisters aunty goes to ante natel with so and so.."

southeastastra · 24/06/2006 18:30

i live in a tv town and we ignore all the famous people, it gets on their wick but it's a great sport.

zippitippitoes · 24/06/2006 18:30

but it's anonymous..most of them went to school or have kids who go to school, uni etc..I can't imagine anyone would bother about this thread at all if they ever saw it

WellKnownMemorablePeachyClair · 24/06/2006 18:38

there's enough play golf here (Celtic manor on outskirts) but live here? I think not. Nice though it is, Cardiff Bay is far cooler.

Cam · 24/06/2006 18:51

Loads in my dd's school but wouldn't dare say their names

WriggleJiggle · 24/06/2006 19:25

MrsNoah - I think you & I went to the same school!

Right now at school there's only a few 'titled' people. A child I teach is 18th or 19th in line to the throne - scary thought!

BonyM · 24/06/2006 19:30

Not v. famous but the woman with blond curly hair from DIY SOS has a child in my dd's school. Not sure what her name is...

BonyM · 24/06/2006 19:31

Oh, and I used to go to primary school with Matt Peacock who (I think) reads the news on Capital Fm (or used to anyway).

Tex111 · 24/06/2006 19:34

Jerry Hall went to my highschool and we had the same French teacher, obviously many years apart. Mme Attaway gave me Jerry's phone number and address when I moved to London. Never had the guts to contact her though.

littlemissbossy · 24/06/2006 19:39

we too have famous people through our school ... wouldn't dare to name them either ... tv presenter, author, actor and x2 footballers (apparently soon to be 3) plus their glam footballer wives with mix-n-match 4x4's lol

fsmail · 24/06/2006 21:49

My DS is in the same class as Don Maclean's grandaughter so he is our biggest celeb. Also we have a BBC celeb doctor as a parent but I have forgotton his name.

Xena · 24/06/2006 21:59

Well you will be so jealous of me... cheryl baker counted the bounces I did in a sponsered bounce when I was 10

jampots · 25/06/2006 01:24

fairly sure neither of ours do and if they did it would only be minor slebs like local footballers etc

That said Jasper Carrott lives just outside of the village and does quite a bit locally. Dont know if his dd Lucy Davis from the Office went to my dd's school or the local private girls school
