Following on from the thread about the Daily Mails article on School Fairs / Fetes......

Do you have any famous parents in your Childs School and do you try to blag decent raffle prizes out of them.

At my dd's school we have a Charlton Ath. Footballer - wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!

Martin Amis's "secret" daughter was in the year below me at college...

Bryan Ferry went to the school my mum taught at (sadly not when she was there as they are about the same age), and used to give them gold discs to raffle off.

mrsnoah · 22/06/2006 23:18

when i was at school one of the teachers was Adrian Edmonson's Auntie aka The Young Ones!
V.strict indeed.

We sent many letters asking him to open our school fair but he never came (sobs)

CarolinaMoose · 22/06/2006 23:56

KTeePee · 23/06/2006 07:07

Spacedonkey, John Hegley himself went to school with the Head of my kids school! (Don't think his kids are going to the same one though!) He came for Book Day this year.

suzywong · 23/06/2006 07:47

Ds1 used to go to the same nursery school as Andy from EastEnders - the one who married Sam Mitchell. Very very handsome in RL.

zippitippitoes · 23/06/2006 07:59

Andrew Davies the prolific Tv literary classics adaptor in my learning Italian evening classes, does that count?

EmmyLou · 23/06/2006 09:23

I'm impressed Zippitippitoes. Somehow don't think north Yorkshire has the same density of quality celebs.

Ummm....Look North's Tanya Arnold opened our school fete last year.

tinytitch · 23/06/2006 09:40

cheryl baker !! we are new to the school but she seems to do her bit at fairs etc.

themoon66 · 23/06/2006 09:44

Alan Titchmarsh was a couple of years above me at school. He was mates with my boyfriend's big brother.

EmmyLou · 23/06/2006 09:45

Cheryl Baker - for some reason her name filled me with a childish glee .

NotAnOtter · 23/06/2006 09:57

themoon66 · 23/06/2006 09:58

NotAnOtter. You must have lived on North Parade?

themoon66 · 23/06/2006 09:59

Am not sure if it was called north parade actually. Ive been moved out of the area for 20 years now. I'm thinking of the street with the lovely fish and chip shop at the top.

NotAnOtter · 23/06/2006 10:00

no lister street

dolly1972 · 23/06/2006 10:16

EmmyLou · 23/06/2006 10:21

Listen Dolly, us country'n'western stars mustn't blow our cover

coffeebeanz · 23/06/2006 10:28

There are a few footballers at my sons school they are just normal dads IMO but there again I dont follow football !

At sports day they didn't enter the Dads race which I thought rather nice of them, and therefore they have gone up in my estimation.

suzywong · 23/06/2006 10:39

Fio, thank you so much for pointing out my howling syntactical error. Of course not at the same time, that would put me in the 55+ age bracket, and everyone knows you can't hold an HVG license at that age although hands do become hairier.

I meant his son and my son
