what do you do when they get older?
i mean do you stop them till they are 18 secretly scoffing choc when they are in bed
do you give them vgradual exposure ot it like a drug meanign that the sweets become a sought after object of desire

or what

Perhaps i should point out at this point that my DD has a peanut allergy and is coming out of a cows milk protein allergy and therefore its utterly necessary to be very particular about what she eats (shop bought that is).

I quite happily give her stuff Ive made with sugar in. Its sweets i avoid. I dont unecessarily sugar up food either to make it more palatable.

Is ponce a bad thing? You got offended at being out-ponced by me, didn't you? (Outponced by a Colonial!)

I don't have crisps or sweeties in the house as a rule.
However we do have choc eggs at Easter/chocs at Christmas/chocs from party bags and they eat all those.
A colleague calls me a food nazi because I don't habitually fill my Asda trolley with multipacks of crisps and basg of fun size Mars bars. Choc not banned here tho!
Mind you, of late I have been binning the jelly sweets and the brightly coloured crap out of party bags. I wouldn't buy it so why would I let others? Trying to eliminate trans fat/aspartame for them too. maybe I am a food nazi....
Cod, in answer to yr OP, no I don't really have a long-term plan, but hoping to educate them into liking food that is good for them by and large.
I always wonder - of you give them sweets when they get in, do they still eat their dinner?

VeniVidiVickiQV · 04/06/2006 22:59

Oh no! Am quite happy to be a ponce.

Am trying to explain away my controlling parental behaviour though Wink

there's a mix bag -'traditional favourites' or something - which has rhubarb and custard, pinapple cubes, cola cubes and pear drops in it.
Heaven

Sweets, that is. Not a smug fruit affair.

MadameClarydeClary · 04/06/2006 23:03

No well that's OK then about dinner I mean.
I ask because a pal of DS1's always sweeties as he leaves school and he never eats his dinner (I know because he has been here to tea).
He's a bit of a squirt too (which I imagine yr boys are not lol).
Wondered if there was a connection.

hunkermunker · 04/06/2006 23:04

Oh, can't bear pear drops (or cough candy - yick) - the others are lovely though.

Strawberry bonbons...mmmmmmmmmm
