Should I have sex for money?

I'm not a troll! I post regularly but have changed my name. If you were strapped for cash and someone you knew quite well had joked about paying for it. Would you have sex for money?

We've often joked about it in the past - I'd give him a special rate etc... but it's not actually happened.

Anyway today whilst talking about one of his friends who wanted casual sex - I jokingly said I'd do it. I had a think about it and sent a text to my friend saying I do it for £150.

Would I be wrong to do it?

I dunno, that Scottish madam in Paris (recently prosecuted) certainly wasn't a "man" controlling the trade.
Long time ago I knew a woman who was studying the micro-geography of prostitution; men were less involved as controlling powers behind the scenes than you might expect. Most of the women in the study worked independently, part-time, just in their very local area, usually for what we might call "pin money" or possibly drug money.
My brother prostituted himself for drugs.
I'm more bothered about his drug addiction consider that much more sordid and potentially "immoral" that the prostitution per se.

Yawn. Good for you. I'm glad you took the bull by the horns (figuratively speaking), and talked this out.

Good luck in the future....

Oh yes... sorry to hi-jack your thread yawn but...

Nicksie, my own personal view: if someone wants to have sex for money, what right have I to say this is "wrong"? Just because this does not fit in what I think is the accepted code of conduct, what gives me the right to say someone can't, just because I wouldn't?.

And no, I'm afraid I really can't see that this is a 'men in control' thing at all........

Firstly If the only way a man can have sex is by paying someone, does this really make him in control?

Secondly, prostitution is not a women only thang... as zebra points out....

Yawn, I'm glad things have worked out and I want to wish you the best of luck in whatever path you take in the future.

Nicksie, I do see your point, to some extent, but I find it very difficult to see this as just right or wrong. I think very few things in life are just black and white. It's one thing setting standards for your own life, but just because someone elses standards aren't the same as yours doesn't mean they don't have standards.

I think, personally, that;s the beauty of MN - the diversity of the people here. And I don't see the problem with being liberal
