\link{http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=1373&threadid=175289\watch the link in this thread}

It's like watching my life in 13 minutes.

And probably explains why sometimes I can have a sense of humour failure when being told I am selfish blah blah. Just trying to avoid this, exactly this, 2nd time round.

We (ds1 and myself) re-enacted the first scene only this morning. He was even dressed in a red coat.

It also explains why I am propping up a large glass of red wine at this very moment.

No I like going blah blah

emkana · 20/05/2006 22:04

Would love to watch it but I can't get it to work.

Jimjamskeepingoffvaxthreads · 20/05/2006 22:06

Click on "to be informed" after the into then you get a link to the film I think. It's working on my Mac so should work OK on a PC.

expatinscotland · 20/05/2006 22:10

i don't have sound on this PC.

Sad
Jimjamskeepingoffvaxthreads · 20/05/2006 22:13

When I try to play it I get this message

Windows Media Player cannot play the file because a network error occurred. The server might not be available. Verify that you are connected to the network and that your proxy settings are correct.

I am connected.
Haven't got a clue about proxy settings!

Jimjamskeepingoffvaxthreads · 20/05/2006 22:16

oh maybe it will work again soon, if its a server error may be nothing to do with you.

hello

hunkermonkee · 20/05/2006 22:19

Just watched it Jimjams.

I don't have the words - everything I try to write sounds patronising or schmaltzy or both Sad

But who on earth would call you selfish?! [gobsmacked]

Jimjamskeepingoffvaxthreads · 20/05/2006 22:19

oh hello, cheers.

OP posts:
Jimjamskeepingoffvaxthreads · 20/05/2006 22:24

on the threads I keep off hunker :o (but that is what I am trying to avoid, and whether misguided or not, that's what I'm scared of)

It is a good film, really, very, very real. The bit where the mother was trying to get her son to do a puzzle and she couldn't get his attention, even though he could do it in 20 seconds if he wanted to, that is so ds1.

But the screaming, constant screaming, it's honestly like that all the time. We've had it today because ds1 wanted to shut someone's front door, because he wanted the washing machine on when we got back, because he wanted to go out, because he wanted a biscuit, because hd didn't want to eat chips, because we'd locked the bathroom door to keep him out of the shower, because ds3 turned the tv off and so on and so on. And he;s a lot better since he's started using PECS- before then it was worse.

Can't say 'selfish' is an adjective I'd apply to you, JJ.

misdee · 20/05/2006 22:28

kinda have an insight to your life already through spursmums ds.

was very moving watching that, what else can i say.

JanH · 20/05/2006 22:32

Missed this thread. Who ever says you are selfish? Agree with misdee, very moving.

GeorginaA · 20/05/2006 22:34

Thanks for posting that jimjams - was really moving.

I really don't know how you get through each day, I really don't.

hunkermonkee · 20/05/2006 22:37

Oh, those threads, JJ Sad

I don't know how you... I can finish that sentence so many ways - keep your temper, don't fill up with resentment and rage, find enough of yourself for your other two, want to punch anyone who complains about trivial things - I am in awe, in great big bloody awe of you and anyone else in your situation, JJ, truly (and I hope to feck that doesn't sound patronising because I don't mean to be).

Jimjamskeepingoffvaxthreads · 20/05/2006 22:47

They kind of answered that on the film humker, I really do spend 90% of my time with, or talking to, parents of other autistic children. Then its all just normal. I don't think that is brilliant for ds2 and ds3 really, but to do anything else is really hard. I am forcing myself to take ds3 to a regular music class thingy at the moment, but I only really have one RL Mum friend that I see regularly who does not have an autistic child (and she's my oldest friend- we've known each other for 35 years).

Gillian76 · 20/05/2006 22:59

Got it.

I feel silly now for sending my 3 to bed early on account of their lack of table manners.

Hats off JJ.

Rhubarb · 20/05/2006 23:04

VVV I just ate you!

SaintGeorge · 20/05/2006 23:05

Jimjamskeepingoffvaxthreads · 20/05/2006 23:07

If you right click on the link do you get an option to "save as", jimjams? (oh hang on - you've got a mac... not sure how macs do that...)
