my boy started today - he was so excited. We went in to say goodbye but from now on, he'll line up outside his classroom. He had the same teacher as dd had in reception which he thought was really nice!

They all go part time for the first term so I have to go back in a minute to pick him up!

My last child off to school - v exciting!

Mascaraohara · 11/09/2006 15:31

It's my dd's last day at nursery tomorrow, I have top say I will feel a little sad, she's been there since 6 months

LunarSea · 11/09/2006 16:22

ds started today - walked in, found his name on a peg to hang his bag on and then as col as you like said "ok mummy you can go now", turned round and got on with playing. Anyone would think he'd been doing it for ever rather than it being his first morning! I got told off when I went to pick him up though, for not knowing that his book bag had to go into a special box rather than into the drawer with his name on. I think he made a better start than I did!

LunarSea

It seems to be us Mum's worrying more than the kids eh?

My lo started last Wednesday and had to come home for lunch for the first few days. (school rule.) Today was his first day staying with a packed lunch. I was really nervous about how he would be, but when I collected him today he seemed fine!! Just said he was tired.

crazydazy · 11/09/2006 16:40

My DS started last week and he was very tired. They have launched them into full days though straightaway and Friday after school he couldn't even summon the energy to play out and that was not like him, he was in bed for just after 7 and thats a record.

He will be doing a full week this week and he only turned 4 in May.....he just doesn't seem ready.

When DD started she was almost 5 and she just seemed so much more intellectually ready than he is.

DS cannot even hold a pen properly let alone write his name which is what I think they will be learning first of all - am so worried for him.

My first chance to take dd2 today(was at work last week )
I am having those moments where you wonder where the years have gone!
DD2 started school , now she is 5 and dd1 has to apply for junior school, I thought I had babies!

hulababy · 11/09/2006 21:22

Lovely to read that most (all?) our new starters are making good starts.

DD goes FT for the first time tomorrow, after 5 days of PT. She can't wait!

It's strange isn't it!You think they are still babies, but then when you see them in their uniform and find that they 'cope' at school all day, you realise that they are growing up faster than you thought they were.

Mascaraohara · 12/09/2006 12:40

So am I the last one with a LO to start?

hovely · 12/09/2006 14:08

my DD starts next Tuesday
I think as she is going full days from the outset (after 4 halfdays) they have staggered the start dates.
she is very excited and very anxious in equal measures, v clingy to me and rather unkind to her little brother at the moment.
I am not even sure where we have to stand to wait for the start of the day, have been twice to meet teacher and see classroom but went in through visitors' entrance both times.
I will be blubbing (but hopefully only after leaving!)

Mascaraohara · 12/09/2006 16:06

I'm not exactly sure where I have to go either Hovely!

ellenrose · 13/09/2006 17:59

My ds starts with a half day on Weds then full day on Thurs. His teacher came out to see him at home on Monday which was really nice and whilst he seems to be looking forward to it - I am really apprehensive for him.

Mascaraohara · 14/09/2006 09:20

She went today!!! was all excited in the morning pestering me to go and then when she got there she got a bit clingy but no tears... will see what she's like when I pick her up, tomorrow might be worse!

noseymum · 14/09/2006 16:18

mascaraohara

How did it go? Was she ok when you picked her up?

Mascaraohara · 14/09/2006 20:52

She was fab, thanks.. all smiles and didn't want to take her uniform off... brilliant! Thanks for asking

noseymum · 14/09/2006 23:15

That's good news. Hope all is ok tomorrow.

ellenrose · 20/09/2006 07:49

ds starts for his first half day today. Could I be more worried?

Mateychops · 20/09/2006 08:36

Good luck - to both of you!

Mascaraohara · 20/09/2006 08:41

Good luck!

After a good start, we've had a couple of clingy days - no tears and all smiles on the way out but clingy. She's even made a couple of friends

nikkie · 20/09/2006 20:14

Full time tomorrow, seems to have been a long time coming for dd2! She has been getting her lunch bag out for a week now!

Mascaraohara · 21/09/2006 11:50

Has she gone fulltime today Nikkie?? let us know how she got on...

nikkie · 21/09/2006 13:20

The poor teacher!
This morning 40 kids (well the majority anyway) practically demolished her to get into school (led by dd2 pushing people with her lunch bag) Just seen dd2 playing out at lunchtime just running from one end of the playground to the other I think she is happy!

crazydazy · 21/09/2006 13:23

Are you finding your little ones are totally wiped out? DS turned 4 in May and started full time 2 weeks ago. He comes home so grumpy because he's hungry and tired once he has had a bit of fruit he picks up again but cannot complain as he's sound asleep by 7.30.

nikkie · 21/09/2006 13:38

Dd2 was 5 last week so is an older one, and oday is her first full day.She was full time last term between 2 nursery places but cam e home for lunch so think that will make a difference. Hopfully she will start sleeping now as she has never needed much before.

ellenrose · 22/09/2006 17:58

First full day yesterday and I expected him to be exhausted - nothing further from the truth Absolutely loved it and has come home today with a massive grin on his face. He did say he was the last one eating his lunch in the hall though but he didn't seemed bothered
