Plenty of time to tidy up then. Grin

psychomum5 · 18/06/2006 23:14

I got DS2's school jumper for him the other day.

he crossed his arms and firmly stated "I will NOT wearing that to school....not going to school...I LIKE my nursery thankyou. am staying put there"

Told me then!!!....he still won't believe he WILL indeed be goingWinkGrin

lionheart · 18/06/2006 23:40

O.K. Plenty of time to tidy up and persuade the child in question that they will be going Grin.

I have no concerns about the school dd is going to now. She is goping to be in a class with her friends and the girls she was getting upset about are in a different class.

Her new teacher is lovely and I think she will thrive there.

hulababy · 08/07/2006 22:38

Anyone started on uniform buying yet?

We had already gotten DD's hat, coat and satchel from the school. And Ihave already gotten her some school sooks and hair bobbles. But today we wnet to John lewis and bought a big bulk of her main uniform items: pinafore, blouses, tie, cardi, PE kit, lunch tabbard and art apron. Still have more to go but big bulk now done and out of the way. DD looked so grown up in it all though; made me feel very emotional in the shop seeing her all dressed up.

Mascaraohara · 09/07/2006 20:10

I ordered dd uniform from the school last week, need to pick it up this week.. donn't know how many blouses & skirts etc to buy though?!?!?

dd went for settling in morning a couple of weeks ago, she looked so lost but she's excited at least

DD starts school in SEptember and she is so excited. It is attached to her pre school so she will be going up with her friends and she knows lots of the bigger ones already. Has done a sereis of afternoons which she loved.

I am however dreading it, I teach part time and will be doing 3 days next year. At present I get into school at 6.30 and dp drops her with me at about 7.15. She then has her breakfast with me at work and I then drop her at our school nursery at 8am. It is so fab having her on site I collect her at 5 and dop takes us all home about half past. But when starts school I will ahve to start her at breakfast club which doesn't start until 8 which mean I will ahve to take her. I don't drive so by the time I have dropped her at breakfast club and got to work it will be almost half past eight. That is two hours off my working day which I can't make up at the other end as I will have to collect her. So the next few years are going to mean lots of late night marking and planning, although I suppose I could still work from 6.30 but do it at home. But it still means lugging bags of book to and from work .

Can I join in - DD2 is starting in September, DD1 is already at the school so DD2 very familiar with it and has been going to special getting ready sessions for a few weeks for an hour.

She is taking it in her stride, which is typical as she's a very confident, happy girl and I thought I was too, until I was writing in my dairy dates for the end of nursery and found myself crying! Was surprised at myself, I expected to be sad when DS starts as he's the last one, but not yet.

With regard to dresses etc. I have aminimum of 3 summer dresses, 3/4 blouses in winter and 3/4 skirts or pinafores. I know lots of parents who have one set and wash it automatically each night, but I'm too lazy.

crazydazy · 09/07/2006 21:16

Can I join too??? DS starts school in September too.

I really don't want him to as I am not at all convinced he is ready. He only turned 4 in May and they only have 1 intake at the school so he starts along with the children who will be 5 in September!! He really isn't mature enough for school and certainly isn't ready to attend 5 days full time.

Also what annoys me is that we haven't heard a thing about whats happening with start dates, whether they are being settled in half days or anything yet, its only 2 weeks before they break up and I don't know what day he starts have asked the school and they just keep fobbing me off.

nikkie · 09/07/2006 21:28

I took dd2 to nursery for the last time last week as I am working all this week, and I acried confused everyone else as there is still a week to go!Also dd2 is the only one out her group that is the youngest in the family so all the other parents will be back there soon.
I have been going there for 4 years continuosly with dd1 then dd2 and the extra effort they have put into dd2 (she has had speech/hearing probs) has been fantastic.
Two of the staff are also leaving at the end of term too so I think there will be tears on Friday I wanted to go in late that day but my class are on a trip and I can't

glassofwine · 09/07/2006 21:32

Sorry to hear that Crazy my DD1 started two weeks after her 4th birthday, but fortunately was very ready I think boys are quite different.

I've had two very different experiences of starting in reception. DD1 was in a different school before we moved here and there was little information from the school and no settling in. On her first day we knocked on the door of the class, which was half full of children and she was told to sit down and that was it! At this new school, we've had a special club for a few weeks now and the children doing full days were invited to lunch a couple of weeks ago - it's so much better.

hulababy · 09/07/2006 22:05

Mascaraohara - we bought 4 blouses but only one pinafore (at almost £30 each I was being tight). However she does wear a tabbard over it at lunch time and a large long sleeved art apron for craft, so fingers crossed.

julienetmum · 09/07/2006 22:14

Dd still has some pinafores from nursery that fit her and I got her a blazer from the swop shop. The main thing I need to get is a jumper, I'm hoping to buy just one new then trying the swop shop again in September (they had none in her size last time.) I also need to get her PE t-shirt, some blouses and a tie.

I'm wondering whether to get them now or wait until nearer to the time in case she grows.

Hi guys, thinking of going to get dd's uniform and shoes this weekend, I'm quite excited.

hulababy · 07/08/2006 16:45

Have fun. It was a bit of a shock for me to see DD all dressed up in her uniform int he changing room! She looked all grown up.

Still got to get shoes. Goign to go on my week off, week before school starts.

Had to cancel a meet up with a mum and little girl who will be in DD's class today, as DD has a tummy bug. Hope we get chance to rearrange. It'll be nice for DD to know someone before she starts. She is going to said little girl's garden party on Bank Holiday onday though - I believe they have invited all the girls and their family who will be int he class.

Mascaraohara · 07/08/2006 16:56

Oh yes, I remember - you couldn't make the open morning/day could you.. will be nice if you can meet up!

Have bought come from school so just have to get the blouses, skirts, tights, shoes I think.

hulababy · 07/08/2006 16:57

Ah yes - I need some red tights. Must remember.

Mascaraohara · 07/08/2006 16:59

Whhops!!!

Obviously I meant 'SOME' not 'come' lol!

so decision is then.. royal blue cardy, grey skirt white blouse.. do I go for blue white or grey socks? shoes must be black

We are meeting up today with 3 mums and little girls, who will all be starting in DD's class in September. We are meeting at one of the local pubs, because it has a decent play area for the girls and also suitable tables for us to sit at. DD is really excited about it; I am really nervous at meeting all these new people!!!
