Having recently had my eyes tested and bought some new glasses, the first time I wore them dd (age 7 yrs) announced that they are ugly and they make my face look ugly!

A week or so later, I was sat on the sofa helping ds (age 4 yrs) get ready for school, the conversation as as follows,

ds: "Mummy, your glasses make you look ugly"
me: "Oh!"
ds: "Only joking!"

Anyone else got any gems?

a child at my dd's playgroup run by my childminder had put lipstick on her eyebrows the night before which hadn't completely come off- the childminder said "that isn't right where does mummy put lipstick?" - my dd piped up " my mummy puts lipstick on her mouth and colour on her eyes like this and so does Daddy- but only on a Sunday"!!!

My brother got married last weekend and we sat directly behind him and his bride. DS aged nearly 5, who was rather bored, very loudly said " I don't like this wedding" - brother and sil thought it most amusing - not!

Tonight dd (6) told dh (who is receding quite a bit in the hair dept) at bedtime that the front part of his hair looks like a big hairy tongue! He wasn't sure whether to laugh or cry!

At our nursery Christmas party the other day, my friend's little boy's face crumpled as he tore the wrapping paper off the present Father Christmas had just given him. "But I TOLD him ? I wanted a Buzz Lykeyear!"

Bumblelion · 18/12/2002 11:46

On Monday night, me and my ds (aged 5) were talking about my dad who died in February 2000. He asked how old he was when Grandad died and I said he was nearly 3 (10 days before his birthday).

DS said that means that when his baby sister (aged 1) will be 3, Grandad Fred will die too.

This is not as cute as the others, as my DS2 is 9, but it made us laugh...he was in allsports with grandma, looking at the signs round the walls, "all:men", "all:women" etc, and then looking at the section which interests him the most - footballs - he said "and that must be all:balls".

Nutjob · 18/12/2002 16:35

On a family trip to a local park, we were looking around the animal enclosures. I pointed out a peacock to my dd (2yrs 10 mnths) saying how beautiful he looked and she agreed - it was all very idyllic. We then moved further along to where a few more families were standing and dd turned to me and shouted 'Look Mummy, another big cocky!!"

Katherine · 18/12/2002 18:48

DS (4.5) when asked if he'd been good so father chrstimas would come: "Sometimes I'm good and sometimes I'm bad - and thats all I've got to say!"

MandyD · 18/12/2002 19:10

Sobernow - that had me giggling for the first time in what seems like weeks. 'Thanks' to your dd!

pluto · 18/12/2002 19:56

According to ds, aged 3, "Farmer Christmas" is coming to our house, along with his friend's "Three Wild Men"

batey · 18/12/2002 20:08

Nutjob, your post reminded me of my dds comment when she was 3. We were in an aquarium in Tokyo where they had giant crabs. She shouted at the top of her voice "Mummy come and see this really big crap!!!" Thanks Goodness most people wouldn't have understood her.

We have Farmer Christmas too from big dd, and Jingle-Hey! Jingle-Hey! from small dd!

RosieT · 18/12/2002 21:21

Pluto ? like the sound of your "three wild men"!
(PS Are you named after the dog or the planet? Just as a matter of interest)

mieow · 18/12/2002 21:43

DS saw a house covered in decorations last weekend and asked "does Santa live there, mummy?" It was a bit tacky with HUGE santa figures on the garage and front garden so I can see his mistake!!!!!

ariel · 19/12/2002 09:55

Ds(7) was in bed last night and called me up , he looked rather worried and said "he didnt like the stars staring at him through the window"

sprout · 19/12/2002 11:35

A few days ago dd (2 1/2) had her face right next to the radio, so I asked her what she was doing.
dd: "Just looking with my ears"
