Hi I was just wondering if there are any other forces wives using MN.

OP posts:
Medulla · 07/07/2006 19:39

Ok thanks for that. We have not ventured as far as Dhekalia yet bt I'm sure we will! I am trying to make the most of everything out here as I know that it will become a memory all too soon!

tiswas · 07/07/2006 19:41

HI there I'm an army wife in Tidworth, wilts and I hate it hate it hate it.........Moved here a year ago and its awful......Any other poor souls out there in the same boat ????

Munz · 07/07/2006 19:42

hello all i'm army as well. grew up in portsmouth thou, so been around the navy boys as well. lol.

thankfully we're being posted in 4 weeks time to blandford from pembs so DH will not be goin to afgan next year as threatened which I think we're both glad about as two of his boys out there sadly died this week, so I think it brought it home to him how close it all is. anyhow, if anyone's in the blandford area - what's the houses like?? lol.

ooh and QE - r u in the bath camp? what's it like there, my mate was gonna go there on theirt next posting it's looking to be either there or blandford for em. they'll only have the one baby so i'm assumin it will be a 2 bed? and she can't drive, so is it close to town?

we've only been in 5 years so still ages to go but least he'll be safe for the next 2 years at the training regt!

Medulla · 07/07/2006 19:42

Why do you hate it? Is it the location or just the camp?

Munz · 07/07/2006 19:44

tis - I hear tidworth's a good one for the wives but crappy for the boys. DH has a few mates there, who told him not to go! lol. either way I think it will be near to me when I move daow (back to civilisation! woohoo! lol)

tiswas · 07/07/2006 19:54

There's nothing here - one high street thats it. The only supermarket is Lidls - if your want Tescos its a 20+ mile round trip. I have to say from what I have experienced its soooo cliquey, tbh I am quite friendly and outgoing but I just find it such hard work I've just given up. (Have witnessed a lot of bitchiness at functions too and its just put me right off ) Havent really got any real friends here at all, so I spend a lot of weekends in Gloucester where all my friends and family are.

vnmum · 07/07/2006 19:56

tiswas, are you posted there individually or as part of a big regiment?

tiswas · 07/07/2006 19:58

He's at Larkhill on a year long course at the moment, then he's going to start at 1RHA at Tidworth in September (2 year posting)

Munz · 07/07/2006 20:00

I think blandford's near u hon so we can meet up in late aug or something if u fancy it, there's bitchyness ehre as well, I don't know why some wives are like that/play the rank game - it's just sad really. I wonder if it's just the army girls who seem to be bitchy or if it's across the board?

best get off - eastender's is on - woohoo! my half hour peace a day! lol.

vnmum · 07/07/2006 20:03

i'm part of a regiment and i hate it, i find the wives bitchy and cliquey. The core wives and engineers etc never seem to be as bad as the big regiments. it gets you down sometimes.

tiswas · 07/07/2006 20:08

Thanks for that Munz, that would be great, I don't know whether I'm painting a black picture here but I've noticed your either in the in crowd or your not. I just can't be assed with it, so I stay on the sidelines and don't get involved. I go to as few functions as I can get away with just to avoid it all!! Sad I know, I end up thinking is it me?

Medulla · 07/07/2006 20:11

No it's not you tiswas unfortunately this is part of being a forces wife. I can only comment on the RAF but it's no different! so sad it's like that, we've all been new before and we will all be new again, why does it happen. As for using your husbands rank - I hate that soooo much!

vnmum · 07/07/2006 20:13

i find that the incrowd seems to change all the time, people are always falling out and kicking off with people, wanting to twat them etc. i just keep myself to myself. All this could just be our chavvy regiment though

tiswas · 07/07/2006 20:16

I'm so glad to meet such like minded souls, Its great to know that I'm not the only one. It's also soooo depressing to think I've got 7 years of this. God help me!

Medulla · 07/07/2006 20:19

It's good to meet you too, nicec to know there's someone out there who understands Got to go now - we are 2 hours ahead of you so it's bedtime for me. I'll look out for you next time I'm around - goodnight to all you forces wives

vnmum · 07/07/2006 20:32

nice to meet you all too, now we can all whinge together and understand exactly what we all mean. Going to watch big brother now, hopefully we can all catch up again soon

tiswas · 07/07/2006 20:33

Night Medulla, The other thing I really hate is the functions, every bloody one is either a theme night where you have to buy or hire a costume or you get told what length dress is acceptable. Its a total nightmare, its all right for the men in there mess dress or whatever. Each one is a trauma to me, got a s*dding one tommorrow night - fancy dress GGGGRRRRHHHH

Medulla · 07/07/2006 20:36

Right I really am going to bed now but just had to reply to tiswas about functions - I find that they are bloody fashion parades which I am totally not into and after 2 children certainly do not have the figure to "flaunt it" - just jealous of those that have really

vnmum · 07/07/2006 20:42

true, very true. At one mess do we had one wife turned up in a mini skirt!!!! Nothing seemed to be said about it , all the other wives had stuck to the dress code, but apparently her DH got extras because of it

tiswas · 07/07/2006 20:55

It amazes me that the men can get jiffed for extras or fined if wifey wears he wrong length dress (mini dress is a bit extreme though she must of had some bottle stick two fingers up to those who must be obeyed LOL)

Munz · 08/07/2006 09:22

[blush well girls i'm afraid Im just a lowley (now NCO's wife) so I no nothing of the functions us peak of! (sob sob lol) na seriously I stay away mainly cos I can't be doing with the bitching that goes on, like u say u're in the croud or not, (as I hear it here the in girls stand and stare at the 'out' girls as it were! - besides DH can go out with the boys when i'm not about which tbh i'd rather given how most of his mates are singallies) and when we first moved here I got badly burnt and decided not basically, there was 4 of us who did coffee etc but one would bitch big style about the other 2 2 me and I thought nup not gonna go there as one was a v good friend so stopped doing coffee with her once the other 2 left and I had no end of trouble from my former mate and all her new buddies - tbh I didn't want the hassle esp with DH away at the time.

vum - r u sig's as well - I tell u here we've got siggy's, and int. I think a few raf as well and none of the wives mix, u go to the coffee pot and the first conversation is "and who's your husband and who are you" - wtf! lol my neighbour turned around and said i'm me a liverpool fan who r u! lol had to laugh! lol.

as u say thou we've all been there being the newbie trying to fit in so why is it always cliquey etc?

tis- is that 7 years left in or 7 years at tidworth?

Munz · 08/07/2006 09:24

even!

tis - we'll def have to sort out a mini meet up or something, esp if there's other wives around.

Munz · 08/07/2006 09:25

and another thiong why me soap box is out! lol. why do some wives do the rank thing I mean we're not the one's in the bloody militry are we, who cares whta the rank is cos if the boys go away we're all the same then init we!

my next door neighbour doesn't talk to me for this reason - the fact i'm at the bottom and her DH is nearing the top.

tiswas · 08/07/2006 10:27

Hi Munz, love this thread, all your rants could be me sounding off !! I totally agree with the rank thing, thats why I dont really get involved stay on the sidelines as I've said before, its all such crap!
Dreading this do tonight, won't know anyone, and its pssing fancy dress so got to contend with looking a complete twt as well as not wanting to be there in the first place. Its a good job DH is worth it!

Medulla · 08/07/2006 12:04

Hey tiswas how did it go last night? Hope you had a good time.

We've got a safari supper tonight (where you go round different houses for different courses) tbh I could do without it. It'll be a big competition on who can cook the best and they'll be talking about it and comparing food for bloody days

As you say it's a good job DH is worth it!
