... agree to go on a date with a married man?

My friend went out the other night and ended up kissing a man who confessed to her that he was married. At the end of the evening they exchanged e/mail addresses, now he's been in touch to say he would like to see her again.

Do you consider it morally wrong to agree to meet this man? Personally I feel that I wouldn't want to see him really considering that he's willing to do this to his wife.

i think it's horrible! knowingly doing that to another woman.
plus if he treats his wife that way then what does that say about him?

fairyjay · 05/03/2006 21:38

Yes - but none of us are perfect.

DelGirl · 05/03/2006 21:39

Personally yes and I can never see why anyone would want to go out with someone who has a partner unless they were just after no strings sex.

crazydazy · 05/03/2006 21:39

Nope, not a good idea.

It seems your friend doesn't seem to be bothered that he's married as they still exchanged emails even when he admitted he was married.

DelGirl · 05/03/2006 21:40

and I should add, even then it's still wrong imho

welshboris · 05/03/2006 21:41

She must be bonkers, there are plenty of single men out there, she should go and pull one of them

Marriage breaking harlot

crazydazy · 05/03/2006 21:43

I was just thinking I hadn't seen you for a while WB and then you just "pop up" - bizarre!!

emkana · 05/03/2006 21:43

In her defence she's just coming out of a 10 year not-going-anywhere relationship with a complete loser and is just desperate for the positive attention. Takes the stance that it's his problem not hers, even though I don't agree with her there.

Twiglett · 05/03/2006 21:44

YES YES YES

totally disgustingly wrong

Filyjonk · 05/03/2006 21:44

Yup I think its morally wrong but also a bit naive.

Take it he's done the whole "my wife doesn't understand me we never have sex its over but i'm staying for the kids blah blah" line?

LIZS · 05/03/2006 21:44

Doesn't sound like the best way to start a meaningful relationship - his poor wife.

welshboris · 05/03/2006 21:45

Very!! I might have to use my first "parp" and walk away from this thread. I just hope some of the lush ladies who have recently had marriages ended because of infedilty see this

And emkana, I know its not your fault, and you probably feel the same as me, but your friend should walk away, it will all end in heartbreak

welshboris · 05/03/2006 21:45

Its her problem aswell, yes hes married, but she knows hes married. Should get her attention from someone else

VeniVidiVickiQV · 05/03/2006 21:46

maybe she doesnt want a meaningful relationship?

I agree though, it does lack moral decency.

crazydazy · 05/03/2006 21:46

Most men just give up so easily though....I know someone like this and he's been with her since they were 14 and now they are 34.

Socci · 05/03/2006 21:47

of course it's wrong....but it doesn't stop people does it?

RachD · 05/03/2006 21:47

Yes its wrong.
This is one of my pet hates that I feel really strongly about.

welshboris · 05/03/2006 21:47

There are single men out there who would love a no strings shag.

emkana · 05/03/2006 21:48

So far he's only said to her that he's married, but not happily. [vomit emoticon]

Doesn't appear to have children.

I'm sure he'll give her the whole spiel about wife not understanding him etc...

Makes me sick really but my friend is feeling vulnerable atm so I have to tread (sp?) carefully.

OP posts:
Twiglett · 05/03/2006 21:50

actually I don't think you should tread carefully

I think you should tell her she's worth much more than this .. and that only a total idiot dates a bloke who's married

(idiot / slapper / bitch / fuckwit .. you choose the word)

am totally disgusted by anyone who is pathetic enough to knowingly date a person in a committed relationship.. there is no soddin' excuse for it

LIZS · 05/03/2006 21:50

Perhaps you are right VVV but vulnerable and meeting a married man are not the best combination. Agree with SL that if he can go behind his wife's back he is probably not good news.

welshboris · 05/03/2006 21:52

If you think shes vunerable now wait til shes crying down the phone to you

-hes told her he loves her but still goes home to wifey

-her heart races with every text she recives incase its him

-she cancels nights out with the girls on the off chance he can call in for a quickie

-she spends christmas and birthday alone

-his wife finds out, she is heartbroken

-he feeds her a pack of lies

-she belives him

-he stays with wife

Be a friend emkana, tell her to sort her head out

emkana · 05/03/2006 21:53

Go on twiglett don't hold back Wink

I agree with you, I really do. Will try and be brave and tell her what I really think!
