Why are oldtimers so unwelcoming to newbies

I am a new member of mumsnet and was really pleased to find it. Unfortunately I have found that most of you oldtimers aren't very welcoming to newbies. Everytime I post on a thread I get ignored, you oldtimers only reply to each other. Sometimes I post on a thread and it just stops all together. I just think it would be nice to make newbies feel more welcome

lol, that has just reminded me of cod's thread that she had to post under a pseudonym because it was a rather delicate problem...

CoveredInBees · 02/03/2006 09:34

yes seach under pouchofdouglas
if you are new and want to get noticed here's my advice:
get a really good and memorable name (funny if poss) with no numbers in it and not including the word mum because there are plenty of those already and it's confusing
post a LOT
be funny
pay attention
don't take offence
get stuck into something and express your opinion

NotQuiteCockney · 02/03/2006 10:04

Hmm, I can't work out if it's funnier made up, or funnier true.

Pirate sex was an excellent wind-up, anyway, as it was very funny and involving, and didn't piss anyone off (I think?) which surely has to be some sort of record ...

ChampagneandNappies · 03/03/2006 09:51

I suppose I really should pay more attention but what the HELL is going on? I think this is a bit too intelligent for me - after all my daily conversations revolve around purees and poo!
