patzcrafty · 18/03/2006 13:31

anteater?

tinkerbellchelle · 18/03/2006 13:32

yakkerty there were 2 little boys similar looking to reece before us and then a gorgoues little girl waiting after us.
I hope you start to feel better soon :(

patzcrafty · 18/03/2006 13:35

anteater? what agency are you with?

patzcrafty · 18/03/2006 13:43

looks like anteater has left to get to the shoot already!! what agency is open on a saturday to call a parent? mmmm

Imagine · 18/03/2006 13:43

patz - If you do a search on mumsnet for 'Juliet Adams' you will find feedback/ personal experiences, not good, I'm afraid.

patzcrafty · 18/03/2006 13:44

ive looked on the internet and didnt even think to look on here....doh!!! thanks for that ill have a look

tinkerbellchelle · 18/03/2006 13:46

patz > I know inspired kids are open on a saturday so maybe some others are aswell?

patzcrafty · 18/03/2006 13:51

tinkerbelle- didnt know that, only my hubby works for saatchi's and said no clients work on saturday and he didnt know of any agency that did either? perhaps she is with them and a freelance photographer has called the agency then or something

imagine- looked on old threads for juliet adams and there is sooo much but cant find anything in particular. i'l take your word for it and tell her to steer clear then , thanks. she applied to bizzykidz who i am with but they declined her. i am really worried she is going to apply to just anyone and get in trouble.

what agency charges the least and is the best for work? not asking too much is she....lol

tinkerbellchelle · 18/03/2006 13:53

patz... Im sure that inspired kids do... I may be wrong.
There is a HUGE list on this post somewhere with all the good agencies and start up costs etc :) HTH

patzcrafty · 18/03/2006 13:54

oh thanks for that, ill paste it on an email and send it to her. really helpful, much appreciated!!

tinkerbellchelle · 18/03/2006 13:58

I think it covers most agencies :) so should be helpful for her

patzcrafty · 18/03/2006 14:04

sent it to her...thanks! she can make her own decision now.

werent too impressed with what was written about bizzykidz tho, i am with them and everything was wrong that person wrote: hasnt got loads and loads of kids on their books (i compared them with elizabeth smith and all the others when i applied and they had less?) and they get loads of work for babies cos ive been busier with my youngest than the older ones? and they are very friendly...anyway I cut that bit out cos she was declined anyway. I think mot look the best bet from that list though

tinkerbellchelle · 18/03/2006 14:19

I think BK have a varied reception on here. My LO has been with them since oct and had no work, but then had email from Bubblegum on 7th about job didnt get one job had casting for next? Im not really 100% sure what I make off BK for some people they seem rally good but for others there seems to have been nothing :)

Good Luck to your friends LO :)

patzcrafty · 18/03/2006 14:27

i think its just luck of the draw with any agency. they cant get work for all thier kids can they and people always moanwhen they dont get work but dont praise when they do....same with any business i suppose. I think the thing about any agency is how long they have been going and that clients know who they are. If they are vat registered is always important thing to go by cos a company has to register for vat if they earn over a large amount (55 grand i think).

the problem is agencies are not regulated any more, hence all the problems, so parents should find out if the agnecy they apply to is approved by the dti i suppose as that is the only body that is around to regulate to some extent

Imagine · 18/03/2006 14:32

I own a limited company and you can voluntarily register for VAT even if you earn under the amount where it becomes obligatory.

It's a good thing to bear in mind that not every company that is VAT registered earns above the threshold.

patzcrafty · 18/03/2006 14:34

i didnt know that..

patzcrafty · 18/03/2006 14:35

i knew that when you go over the amount (whatever it is) you have to register, thats where i got confused

Imagine · 18/03/2006 14:42

yep, over the threshold you have to register, below you can (voluntarily).

Smaller companies often voluntarily register for VAT because it makes them seem more reputable in the eyes of the public.

From the fact that a company is VAT registered you cannot deduce how much they earn.

Hope this helps :)

(I didn't know any of this until I started my own company!)

patzcrafty · 18/03/2006 14:46

i dont suppose theres any need to know until you need to know. Handy info to know though, thanks

patzcrafty · 18/03/2006 14:47

i think that just leaves people with the option of the dti and clients knowing them then

mykidsmum · 18/03/2006 15:31

I know anteater from other threads and he is not dodgy, why the suspicion?

mykidsmum · 18/03/2006 15:36

Btw some clients do work on saturdays as we have done jobs then, thought I'd better clear that one up also.

Casting went okay yesterday, just a clothes fitting so nothing exciting, will find out on Monday if ds gets the job.

patzcrafty · 18/03/2006 15:39

think i covered that one....about agencies opening times and my husbands job?

legitimate question i thought?

patzcrafty · 18/03/2006 15:40

bit clicky on here. you didnt poke your nose in when i was queried earlier......

funny that
