Would your ds wear pink?

I'm just wondering because at the moment Next is full of pink tops for boys. I have three boys (6,10 and 12) and none of them would countenance the idea of wearing pink.
So have Next made a monumental mistake or are my boys sartorially challenged?
By the way I don't think there's anything wrong with boys wearing pink (I quite like it) I just can't imagine any boy being brave enough to do so.

tortoiseshell · 06/02/2006 12:09

Ds wouldn't.

throckenholt · 06/02/2006 12:11

I have a 3 year old DS who's favourite colour is pink. I also have a friend who's 4.5 year old wears pink - he complained his sister got to wear pink and he didn't so his mum bought him some pink shirts.

nitfreecod · 06/02/2006 12:12

they often like pink under hta ged of 5

why not its a nice colour

Kelly1978 · 06/02/2006 12:12

lol, nope. ds is 3.5 and adament pink is for girls.

LIZS · 06/02/2006 12:18

Don't think I'd be able to persuade ds ! Wait for the sale .

SleepyJess · 06/02/2006 12:20

Yes it's really trendy for boys and men just now. My 13 year old DS has a pink tshirt.

serenity · 06/02/2006 12:21

DS2 will be stoked as pink is his favourite colour, he's 6 in June btw. DS1 I'm not sure of. He used to like pink, but had it 'socialised' out of him in reception......I wonder if he would feel it was OK as they are 'boys' tops?

I might take them to Next in the half term and see what their reactions are.

GDG · 06/02/2006 12:21

Ds1 goes 'bleurrghg, pink, that's a girls toy' when he sees ads on the TV. Mostly since starting school I have to say.

Blu · 06/02/2006 12:27

well if Next's pink-for-boys range does bomb, they have only themselves to blame! The uni-tide of pink and lilac, and no other colour, in the girls half of the shop for the last 5 years has helped enforce the emphasis of 'pink for girls' which was hardly present when I was a kid.

I don't like most shades of pink, so I will be the decising factor in whether DS wears it or not!

wordgirl · 06/02/2006 12:30

Yes, at least boys get a choice of whether to wear pink whereas it seems to be just about compulsory for girls! It must be pretty tough if you have a dd who doesn't like pink.

I have a DD who loves pink (it's be-yu-tiful) unfortunately she has a mum who hates it

Even more unfortunately I seem to have lots of friends and relatives who postively relish buying the most girly stuff they can find I gave up a long time back. So what the hell dress the DSs in it too!

serenity · 06/02/2006 12:48

positively

QE2 · 06/02/2006 12:52

ds1 is 12 and has a pink polo shirt. He had been asking for one for a long time and we got him one for xmas. He loves it. He lives in it; I have to prise it off him to wash it. btw he looks fab in it.

ds4 has a pink and chocolate striped shirt. People always comment how nice he looks when he's wearing it.

coppertop · 06/02/2006 12:54

Ds2 (3) probably wouldn't even notice the colour but ds1(5) thinks that pink is for girls.

Helen38 · 06/02/2006 13:26

DS1(7) would never ever consider going anywhere near pink, it's for girls!!!! he was not impressed when i let ds2 (4) have some pink pj's that he was desperate for.

In fact he is hoping i will have another boy when this baby arrives as if it's a girl there will be pink in the house!!!!

Pixel · 06/02/2006 19:31

Yep, I know a couple of teenage boys who wear pink shirts etc. One of them (16yo) even wore one to my sister's wedding.

getbakainyourjimjams · 06/02/2006 20:09

Pink is ds2's favourite colour (he is 4). I think he genuinely likes it, although I aso think he says it to wind his dad up. He has a top from Next (present from MIL) which is brown with pink stripes and he loves it because it is pink.

sharklet · 06/02/2006 21:44

Don't have a DS but DH wears pink all the time and he's in a supposedly masculine job (military) he gets the piss rippe dout of him but always comes back on them with "are you not comfortable enough in your sexuality to wear pink?"

Nope ...it's for girls of course
He probably wouldn't have noticed any other item of clothing pre 5 but if i had put pink on him ...then even he would have noticed that!

cece · 06/02/2006 21:47

no ds is just 2 and he already says things like pink is for girls. He won't wear a pair of light blue trousers as he thinks they are his sister's.

Can't think where he gets it form
