Three yearly. They usually send you a letter telling you that you are due. 12yrs is a long gap hun I woud book one asap to put your mind at rest.

Well ive just had my first smear

have to say having read that 1st thread i thought it was gonna be awful

had 2 paracetamol 45 mins before and some rescue remedy, more bach rescue remedy 5 mins before....

the nurse was lovely and it honestly didnt really hurt at all. It stung a bit at the time, but i was pleasantly surprised, and anyone who is putting it off, go for it, its NOT THAT BAD at all!

I need one, but I hate going. 3 years since my last one, had a baby last summer, scared it's going to hurt even more.

I heard that you can have it done with a brush and it's less painful, but I can hardly phone them up and ask "is it a brush, dear?"
