As an offshoot of the Baby Modelling thread here is the new and improved thread for all questions you may have regarding agencies, the industry or just to relate general experiences. The last thread is hereby laid to rest - it was 5 YEARS OLD! Jeez!

If you want to DEBATE or CRITICISE go to the "Child Modelling - Debate" thread.

oh yackertyyack .. i wish my kids were smaller. dd1 is taller than average and dd2 has such a round face and growing up too fast no more kids for me so i'm envious

cyan · 02/02/2006 11:58

yackerty> bless him! i bet he's lovely. one minute i get people saying ds is big for his age and the next they say he's small. cant win!

i love monsoon clothes, but they're bloody expensive. fortunately my friend works for accessorize and gets up to 75% off on their stuff! having said that she bought me a lovely cardy and it's fallen to bits already!

7s my ds hasnt long gone into 9-12 mths clothes and he's nearly a year. sometimes for me it just depends on where the clothes are from.

sh11 · 02/02/2006 12:29

dont u think clothes are labelled wrong anyway, wouldn't it be easier if they used laredoutes sizing guide by inches instead of months - 64, 72 etc go by the nearest to your child. All babies are different in height weight etc. I suppose we all know our babies, kids length dont we as we have got to update their details..

cyan · 02/02/2006 12:37

sh11> many a time ive bought something and thought it was definately the wrong size. dp bought ds a gilet from next the other day size 12-18 mths and it's huge. he would have fit in the 6-9 but pointless buying it because prob would not have ended up getting much wear! AT least if it's big he'll be able to wear it in the autumn, all being well!

Hennes use inches sometimes, i think?

All this clothes talk reminds me that I need to get rid of some of ds stuff, got nowhere to put it might try and sell on ebay!

mythumbelinas · 02/02/2006 13:02

Thought i was just feeling tired from yesterday, but now i realise i feel awful about telling totallyfloaty my dd1 hasn't had a job yet .. and now she's pulled her dd2 from KL I hope it wasn't what i said!! If it's b'coz of trying for more tv orientated work, then good luck

CadburyGirl · 02/02/2006 13:22

mythumbelinas - ah bless you, I can't speak for totallyfloaty but I'm sure your comments wouldn't have been the sole reason for her decision.

totallyfloaty35 · 02/02/2006 13:54

mythumbelinas, dont worry def didnt move her cause of what you said .Moving her cause finally got a reply from MOT and they were always my first choice, plus i didnt really click with KL.
Been on aupair website all morning, got to get new one lined up for when this one goes(not that shes leaving til may,)but hate being left without one as suddenly have to cancel work.

well heres hoping we all get calls for work later.Off now,got to take dd for diving lesson.

mythumbelinas · 02/02/2006 16:03

glad to hear that totallfloaty
i've been thinking that even if you really like an agency, is it the right one for your LO. What i mean is, better to go with an agency that's reputable AND gets more jobs for your LO's age group .. seems some agencies are better for babies, some for toddlers and under 5's and some for older kids.
Eventho KL (and UA) have had jobs for top names, doesn't mean my dd will ever get those jobs!!

mythumbelinas · 02/02/2006 16:14

oh .. and i meant that in general to everybody, nothing personal .. just something to consider with all the agencies some are finding hard to choose from

yackertyyack · 02/02/2006 17:39

hey thumbs, i make you right - i reckon there must be loads of kids across all of the agencies that have not had any work. At the end of the day it is an over-crowded profession and ANY work is a bonus!!

mythumbelinas · 02/02/2006 17:49

Yeah, i agree. There is always plenty of work for babies (but so many babies to choose from) .. think of all the agencies that are keen to take on babies (inc UA - all yr round). All the baby mags, baby shops, baby catalogues .. and they grow up quickly, but there aren't nearly as many things for 'kids' ages .. iykwim

perfumelady · 02/02/2006 17:54

hi yackerty, reckon your right there. also i speck that there is a small minority of children that get loads of work. there must be so many faces that get looked at by a company that are doing a campaigne so if your child hasn't got that stand out effect then i guess 90% go unnoticed.
