We have played with Eve / Evie for the new bubaloo but it's just not sticking, something is preventing us both for going for it, and I don't know what / why. Perhaps we'll suddenly feel it and go for it, but maybe not.

Other contenders are:

Lauren
Amelie

Last night D said he really liked the name Saskia, I'm not so sure.

It has to semi go a bit with Carlotte / Lottie (our eldest DD) and her last name begins with M and you makes a 'moy' sound.

Any comments on the names we have thought of and any other suggestions?

True, www - I think we're lined up to do hunker's soon too .

hunkermunker · 03/01/2006 00:10

PMSL - have already had thread with names like Algernon and Lucretia suggested - big thanks, ladies

DH far more traditional than me, name-wise - says he doesn't want anything with the "wtf factor" - you know, where people look blankly and then go, "Oh, how lovely" with a fixed smile on their face (if they're polite) or "WTF?!" if they're not!

hunker, if it's a girl, why not the oh-so-unusual Sybil (after moi)?

Er...DH says Gideon's a cool name.
Sybil, on the other hand, means I'll have to have another boy and call it Basil, according to DH

But...he'd have to put bibles in hotel rooms for a living

Janh · 03/01/2006 00:17

Ah - good point by DH. Bugger.

(Talking of bugger, I had a somewhat annoying phone call at work yesterday, pressed the wrap-up button and said "boogger!" quite loudly, and then heard the bloke the other end start chuckling and realised wrap-up doesn't actually cut them off . The worst part was that I had to ring him back later )

harpsichordcarrier · 03/01/2006 00:21

(hinker what about Gabriel? I really like it...)

Janh · 03/01/2006 00:25

Oh yes, love Gabriel (star player in DS2's football team was a Gabriel - also the very sexy sort-of hero in Jerusalem the Golden by M Drabble)

harpsichordcarrier · 03/01/2006 00:45

Janh that's where I got the idea (Margaret Drabble) also Gabriel Oak from Far From the Madding Crowd
I only seem to be able to produce dd's though so no use for it myself

Sidonie · 03/01/2006 06:55

Pip is lovely. Lolly is a lovely nickname for Lauren. I love Genevieve - Vevee.

Bouj · 03/01/2006 07:11

Was reminded of an unusal one today - Daneve. Quite pretty, don't think I could use it because I have known the girl for years, and would be a bit weird I think... But someone else may like it?

homemama · 03/01/2006 08:24

Lockets, as I posted on the boys names thread, my cousin is Alexander and he has always been Lex which sounds fab.

Yes, I like Gabriel too.

Enid · 03/01/2006 08:54

blimey this thread is eating its own head

I still like Pippa and want someone to have it as with my 'county' surname it sounds like a showjumper so probably vetoed by me here. Dh still keen though.

Clary · 03/01/2006 10:43

Janh I know a 3yo Sybil. Her mum always gets asked if it's "a family name" lol but I really like it, suits her too.
TC I like Pippa too. Lotty and Pippa, sounds really sweet.

I think Lottie and Libby would be nice...short for Elizabeth.

Or Eliza.

Or Elise.

The ds's would have been Annabel...so pretty and can be shortened too.

laughinglil · 03/01/2006 13:02

i like louisa for a name lottie and louisa sounds nice.
think i'll have to remember that one!

harpsichordcarrier · 03/01/2006 13:03

I;m with Enid, I think Pippa is a bit gymkhana for my tastes

acnebride · 03/01/2006 13:12

but Phil really nice for her to decide to call herself when she is older and bolshie

i have a nephew Philip who is still called Pip although he is now 15, 6 ft 5 and the most knee-tremblingly gorgeous Caravaggio-style thing you ever saw [sigh]

[inappropriate aunty emoticon]
