Hello Ladies,

Here is the 4th WIIT thread for our enjoyment.

Stats will have to follow at a later date, as I can't check back to see where everyone is accurately at the moment.

Get posting and lets see where this thread takes us. :)

SPR we haven't had an update on your pg recently, how's it going? You must be third trimester by now or thereabouts, I'm not sure of your due date. What kind of birth are you hoping for?

Awayinamangercooper · 07/01/2012 09:17

Oh and how's your friend getting on who's having the twins?

ShaggingProducesResults · 07/01/2012 09:32

Morning all!!
It's lovely to hear how all the WIIT babies are getting on and makes me even more impatient to meet mine!!!

I'm 31 weeks today so will definitely meet my small person in 11 weeks time, but hopefully sooner than that!!!

T3 is going pretty well. Mini is bloody active though and regularly wakes me up / keeps me awake at night with huge kicks. It's Transverse with the head under my right ribs so can get quite uncomfortable at times. I seem to be doing a lot of sleeping too, thank God I'm not working!!!

I'm still undecided on what birth I'm aiming for but have done hypnobirthing and am toying with the idea of a home water birth (never thought I'd want to be anywhere but in a hospital but am feeling pretty confident about it all). Got a homebirth group on 20th so will find out more then.

Nursery still a spare room but we are hopefully going to paint it next week and order furniture etc. shopping wise, I'm so unprepared for LOs arrival!!!

bebejones · 07/01/2012 10:49

WW - What a cutie! He certainly looks very alert! If it's any comfort at all DD was a very alert baby. She'd happily do 6-7 hours at night from about 4 weeks (although she'd make a massive fuss about actually going to sleep). But she would hardly nap at all. She would drop off for about 15mins after a feed & then be awake and alert & wanting to be entertained. Quite often she would scream the house down on her playmat usually & then just seem to pass out...but not for long! You have my sympathy! It was/is quite draining! But when she got to about 5months ish she started having a decent nap after lunch. This started as an hour, then got longer, 2-2.5hours by a year then tailed off. So it might well change. Hang in there!! On the plus side it meant that we were quite free to go & do stuff as we didn't have to work around nap times!

AC - Do Not Panic!! Keep Calm & Carry On!! Wink

SPR - Sounds like you are very chilled out about the whole thing! Can't believe you only have 9-11weeks left to go! How fast has that gone! (I know we always seem to say that to the PG WIITs but it's true! :o) Will the nursery have a theme/scheme?

I'm trying to be really positive about all the crap going on in my life at the moment! Confused
SO have written a list of things I want to achieve in 2012
-am back on my diet & want to lose 2 stone by DDs 4th Birthday (August)
-I want to get my cake business properly set up
-I want to de-clutter my dining room, bedroom & spare room
-I want to be PG or at least TTC by the end of the year Hmm
-I want to have paid off my bank loan by the end of the year (unlikely)

Hoping this will help me focus!

ShaggingProducesResults · 07/01/2012 10:59

WW. Just seen your pics...... Gorgeous!!

Bebe. Good idea to make a list for 2012 and I'm sure that you'll achieve everything on it. Positive thinking is the key!!! My list is something like.

  1. have baby
  2. cope with having baby & be a good mummy
  3. loose weight
  4. get fit (planning on running the Bath Half again next year so that should motivate me) !!!!!!

No real theme for the nursery but we'll base it around the lion sculpture we bought in 2010. There is so much to buy and I'm not sure where to start!! Might get hospital bag essentials in town today to kick off the spending!

Awayinamangercooper · 07/01/2012 12:39

SPR are you very impatient to meet LO then? 9 months is a long time!

Nice idea about theming the nursery around the sculpture. Is it Strawberry who has a jungle theme in her nursery with cute little lions on? Maybe DH and I should look out for some nursery pieces on TBT? Or I should, surreptitiously!

Bebe good idea to do the list. I always want to put exercise on mine, but I know I'll never do it. Keep chipping away at the debt, building up the savings and TTC are all on my list.

Awayinamangercooper · 07/01/2012 14:03

WW I finally managed to open your photos without it crashing. Lovely!

Quodlibet · 08/01/2012 17:59

WW Teddy is lovely! What gorgeous hair he has! Blimey, the sleep deprivation does sound pretty ghastly, poor you.

SPR I forgot about your lion - he is amazing. I reckon you'll make an awesome nursery with him in it. Can't believe you've got so little time left, either - it seems like only a couple of months since you got your BFP. Great that you're feeling so empowered about the birth (did you ever read Nannyl's incredible birth story??)

I'm enjoying all these 2012 lists. Mine goes something like:

  • try to conceive and try simultaneously not to go mad.
  • get the house-buying wheels in motion (even if we find out we ultimately can't at the mo - it's about getting a firm plan in place)
  • get a first full draft of my PhD finished (this one is terrifying me)
  • get my solo directing project set up and underway (also scary)
  • get better at enjoying the 'me time' when DP is away
  • really enjoy what promises to be a pretty full-on summer of work
  • improve and maintain my fitness as I want to be as fit as I possibly can be before pregnancy, to give my back the best chance (currently doing an alcohol-free January, and exercising 6 days in 7, first milestone will be being able to run 5km which I've never been able to do!)
  • cherish time with friends, and simultaneously expand my cooking repertoire (these two are interlinked!)
  • get my finances in a better position - currently it's all a bit seat of the pants. (AC I'm v impressed by your financial achievements)

Right, got some nice cooking to do from a new book I got for Xmas - Vietnamese-style pancakes, yum. What's everyone else been up to this weekend?

Awayinamangercooper · 08/01/2012 20:15

Quod that is quite a list! Grin

I actually went to the gym this evening. Maybe you and I should do couch to 5k together?

Quodlibet · 08/01/2012 22:20

I am doing couch 2 5k! Finished week 2 today - yes join in! You could maybe skip the first week or two?

Quodlibet · 09/01/2012 11:51

AGGH I am going to have to get a second third job to pay for all the weddings I'm going to this year!

Have already paid for flights for a close friends wedding happening abroad which we are taking a week's holiday for.
Have just now had to pay £££ to change these flights as another friend who I'm a sort-of bridesmaid for has finally booked her wedding at fairly short notice and the unfortunately dates clash.
Have another email in my inbox from 3rd set of friends asking if we'd like to take 4 days off work in the summer and pay to join them in an expensive B and B either side of their (weekday) wedding. (think the answer might sadly be no)
Now slightly dreading the 4th invite which we know is on its way. Money is so tight for me this year!

Sorry just need to let off some steam! I know I don't sound very generous spirited but my bank account has taken a walloping this morning. As you were.

strawberrypie · 09/01/2012 14:14

Hi all,

lovely pictures WW- look at all that hair! I hope Lo starts sleeping more for you soon, 'they' say things start to improve at around 8-12 weeks don't they?

A vote for home water birth here SPR- mine was fantastic, hope the homebirth meeting answers any questions you have- maybe try to make sure your OH goes with you so he can here all the positive stories too in case he has any concerns.

Great NY lists bebe and quod, good luck with the 5k thing. We have a wedding to go to in Ireland next year so are hoping to make a holiday of it.

Emma is doing really well, we are getting a 6h stretch between feeds at night now (sometimes) and she is rolling over from her front to back, holding head up and grabbing things. She is also sporting a fetching Friar Tuck style hairdo where it has worn off at the back, hopefully this will grow back at some point!

100years · 11/01/2012 12:36

AC thanks, I'm almost better, but still snotty and a bit of sinus pain, would like it gone now. It really is fascinating, she's a bundle of learning new things at the moment. Shuffling on the floor is the current one, bum in the air, feet brought closer, push, move about 1cm, repeat repeat repeat! One step away from crawling I think. Tooooooo soon. And do not panic, the sleep depravation is hard, but it's not never ending.

SPR I hope the home birthing group is good and you get some answers to questions. I think it would be ace to have a home birth, not sure if I'd want to go for one myself as I think it would leave my OH feeling a little uneasy, but if he was up for it then maybe I would. Would certainly be better for number 2 and not having to get pads of childcare sorted out for LO!

Bebe. I could join you in the lose 2 stones by August camp, and I'm sure you will get the cake business up and running.

Quod. I'm also doing the couch to 5K :) so there could be 3 WIITs doing it. Although mine has stopped while I'm full of cold, but I'm going to start again SOON

Strawberry, wow to rolling, she's not even 3 months yet, that's fab stuff :) And yep we too have a bald patch at the back of her head, I think it's starting to grow a bit now again though.

Well I've been shitty with this cold, not felt like death, but just felt full of cold and am sporting a lovely red nose now from blowing it.

Had my smear test this morning, no problems, it's weird how some people hate them. I just lie there and let it happen and it seems to be no problem for me.

Edith is just going into 3-6 month clothes! Bless her. Waiting on hearing back from the TT people, there may be an appointment tomorrow, but if there is there is no guarantee they will snip it then because of her age, they usually don't do it in clinic after 15 weeks, and LO will be 18 weeks on Friday, so it's kind of fingers crossed it can be done, if not then will see what they say happens if I need a 'special' appointment for it. I don't think she's quite at the needing a General for it, but they might think she is, I hope not. There is another lady who also does it, and might ask her for a second opinion if they say GA is needed. I might not have an appointment yet, so it's all kind of up in the air anyway. It's been a bit sore the past few days, nipples looking a bit angled after a feed which I know can happen.

She is getting good at grabbing things that are out of reach, she really seems to know what she wants now and gets herself in a bit of a frustrated tizz getting it! But it's very funny watching her little bum go up and down in the air, she seems very very strong. [proud mum emoticon]

TT clinic app tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

OP posts:
strawberrypie · 12/01/2012 21:32

Hope the appointment went ok and you got the TT sorted 100years. I hope little Edith was alright. Mums I have spoken to about having the TT snipped say they often see an immediate improvement, fingers crossed!

100years · 13/01/2012 14:52

Hi,

Well just a 'quick' post about yesterday's appointment. Had a nightmare getting to the hospital, ended up in tears as I was in the wrong place at the app time and had walked 3/4 mile to the place as there were no parking spots at the hosp and was in the wrong place anyway. Thankfully the lady at the place I had ended up in rang through to the dept and said I was on my way.

So I saw the lovely doc, who asked a few questions, not many, but offered to cut the tie, although he said LO was at the upper end of where he was happy to do it without anaesthetic he did it anyway. He gave her a few drops of some pain relief and was a quick cut, I didn't watch, I was quite interested in seeing it, but it's my baby and thought it might be a bit much. She went onto the breast straight away, and there was no pain for me, considering she was feeding on my more tender nipple, she wiggled her tongue around a bit afterwards, there was a tiny bit of bleeding, but she fed twice without a problem. She has fed really well since, seems to be a bit less gulpy with her feeding and her tongue movement now is quite something, can touch the roof of her mouth now! Yesterday evening she had a really bad evening when it came to bedtime, she sucks her thumb a lot and I think she was in a bit of discomfort and it probably felt weird for her sucking with a big movey tongue, so she was out of sorts for nearly 2 hours, lots of cuddling, rocking, singing, making faces etc etc didn't help bring her round from her sadness. In the end I ended up giving her some calpol which stopped the crying and she then settled down to sleep. I've had one instance of soreness on feeding, but other than that it's been all good. I think so far it's made a difference, time will tell for sure, but it's been done now.

The doc said to me well done for feeding so long, and he also said it was a significant tie, I wish I had looked at doing it sooner for her, her messy eating wasn't because she is a messy eater, but more than likely because of the tie. And could have stopped a few other things like evenings of windy discomfort for her, but we won't know. However if there is a number 2 and they have a tie I will be getting it done early on then, even if things look fine to begin with.

She seems right as reign again today, the discomfort must have gone now thankfully. She's been happily sucking her thumb again :) Although we had a very disturbed night, so she's a bit tired today, so lots of cuddles for us :)

Quodlibet · 13/01/2012 15:43

Ah well done 100, good to have it out of the way. Sounds like she'll be a happier little thing for it.

What are people doing this weekend? DP's away here so I'm going out with the girls tonight and planning a run tomorrow - going to see how far I can run non-stop! I moved straight on from 1st workout of wk 3 of C25k to wk 4 and found it totally manageable, so am thinking I was perhaps nearer the 5km than the couch in the first place and am just being a wuss! My friend is going to chase me round the park tomorrow to see how far I can go if I push myself.

I've very angelically kept up no drinking this month and 30 mins fairly vigorous exercise every day, and feeling fantastic for it. I think a whole month of this is going to make a real difference.

100years · 13/01/2012 15:55

Thanks Quod. :) Hopefully.

Have you run before? If not, then I would be very wary of seeing how far you can go being 'chased' around the park, the first time I started running I got myself injured by doing too much too fast too soon. It's fantastic that you feel comfortable to do that, and I don't want to sound like I'm stopping you do anything, I want to encourage, but having been on the injury couch for too long in the past that I don't want to see anyone else there. The plan is good as it builds you up slowly to avoid injuries etc. Well done on the exercise you have been doing.

Think it will be a relaxing weekend for me and OH. Not much planned so far.

I on the other hand have worked ten hour days all week and haven't so much as had my trainers on! I'm still on week one! Blush

This is why it wasn't on my list (don't like failure!)

100years · 13/01/2012 21:16

AC 10 hour shifts suck, mind you they are a breeze to me now (or were when I was at work) as I originally did 12 hour shifts! You will get there :)

OP posts:
Awayinamangercooper · 14/01/2012 11:24

It's been quite invigorating actually, cause we were preparing for a hearing, the time went quickly, but I didn't fancy the gym at the end of the day. No change there then! Grin

Quodlibet · 14/01/2012 15:12

100 I took yr advice and didn't let my friend bully me! Did the wk 5 run this a.m though which was fine. I did do a bit of running in the summer and built up some stamina then so I've retained some of that I think, rather than starting from scratch. I'm aiming to be able to manage 5km by the first weekend in feb.

Have worked out that actually we can ttc next month as well as this month without risking my work too much, which is good because this month is pretty low odds I reckon - I'm away for 5 days in what will either be OV time if I have a short cycle this month or the lead up to OV time if I have a long cycle (does that make sense?) I'm charting this month so that I can see when OV happens and attempt to adjust my mentalness on the 2ww accordingly if we've totally missed the window. Does this strategy sound slightly deluded?!

bebejones · 15/01/2012 09:07

Finally got 5 mins to catch up! (I have been reading but have had a crazy busy week of rushing here, there & everywhere!)

100 - Glad Edith's TT snip went well. How is she doing now? Is feeding still improved? I do sometimes wonder if DD has/had a mild TT, her feeding was horrendous & I was so SO sore despite her latch being 'perfect'. But guess I'll never know now, there certainly isn't an obvious TT (to my untrained eye) and at the time I knew nothing about TT. How are you feeling now? Rid of the lurgy?

Strawberry - DD had the bald patch too (when she discovered she could move her head side to side it all just rubbed off :() rest assured, it does grow back!! :o Little Emma is such a clever girl with all the rolling! :)

Mega impressed with all the couch to however many K-ing!! :o I need to get back into an exercise regime, my back is starting to improve so it's time to get back in some sort of shape!!

Nothing really new to report here. Having a chilled out weekend for DHs birthday, had friends/family round for a gathering yesterday & going to relax a bit today (his actual birthday) as we all have a disgusting cold (thank you DD)! Spent alot of this week making his cake, but was worth it, was a big hit! :) Presently I'm the only one awake in the house, even the cats are asleep!! Just catching up on Eastenders, then might have to have a sneaky pick at the leftover party food!! (This is not good for the diet, but I am feeding my cold :o)

Hope all the WIITs are having a lovely weekend? x

Awayinamangercooper · 15/01/2012 12:52

I am about halfway through the first walk run exercise. Running is so boring!

Awayinamangercooper · 15/01/2012 13:13

Well that was super dull. It's my brain that needs breaking in gently, not my body: one minute sessions of hyper-stimulating video game play interspersed with a minute and a half watching paint dry for 30 minutes until I build up my boredom threshold.
