Get posting and lets see where this thread takes us. :)

Not bad going! Wink Well done to MrCooper on stopping smoking! :) Where are you going to visit on TBT?

I intially was supposed to be TTC Dec 2009...then June 2010....then Dec 2010....then probably, maybe, sometime....never?! Wish MrBebe would get his act together soon (preferrably before I have to have another smear test!). Really not sure if I can face another year in limbo! :(

Quodlibet · 04/01/2012 11:15

AC that is an impressive list. Well done Mr Cooper.

We've been talking a lot this week about whether we're going to try to buy a flat this year (DP all of a sudden very keen) and it has just occurred to me that being pregnant/having a small baby when you apply for a mortgage might stand against you. Does anyone know? I haven't got the foggiest about that kind of thing, apart from knowing that it's going to be hard to get a mortgage anyway as freelancers! Where do you start with mortgages??

Bloody AF is still fannying about - I thought it was about to appear, but only light spotting for the past two days. HURRY UP IF YOU'RE COMING IN! Grrrrr.

bebejones · 04/01/2012 11:23

Quod - I shall ask MrBebe re:Mortgages as it is his area of expertise! :) Grrr re:AF how frustrating!

Been to toddler group this morning 3 mummies now with 'bumps' Envy Got this stupid feeling that I'm getting left behind IYKWIM? All these new 'mummy friends' I have made (which was hard work for me) are now onto their 2nd babies and I won't 'fit' with them anymore! Silly I know, just feel a bit glum still...January blues?

Quodlibet · 04/01/2012 12:43

Thanks Bebe that would be really helpful. If it's relevant we'd be looking to get LTV under 80%, and mortgage repayments to match or be below the level of rent we've been managing for a couple of years. (maybe I do know a bit Grin) It's complicated because our income is pretty impossible to predict accurately and very hard to 'evidence'.
I can't believe you'd find it hard making friends! Must be difficult to feel like everyone's at a different stage to you though. I feel quite fortunate in that whilst a fair few of my friends have had a baby (or two) there are others who are still happily waaay off - it's nice to have a spread.

bebejones · 04/01/2012 13:12

Right, the man who knows he say:
Each lender has an 'Affordibility calculator' which does take children into consideration but by how much is dependant on the lender as they all vary. So in that respect he says it would be better for you to get 'approved' before children.
However, with you both being self-employed (that is right isn't it?) and proving your income a problem is where you might struggle. Old style 'Self-certified mortages' don't exist anymore so you would most likely have to find a way around that. It's very very hard for people who are self-employed to get a residential mortgage these days :(

Quodlibet · 04/01/2012 13:58

Thanks Bebe, that is helpful. I guess we need to speak to a mortgage advisor really. I might ask around my self-employed friends to see how they've managed it - have a feeling it'll be a long and frustrating process which is probably why we've buried our heads about it for so long. Well, that and being brassic.

bebejones · 04/01/2012 15:39

Yes definitely speak to an independant advisor. DH (and me, technically) are self-employed but luckily we bought before self-cert mortgages were withdrawn (ie. pre bloody credit crunch!) we would be completely buggered now! So we are stuck in this house until the global economic crisis is fixed....might be a while!!

DH did say that an example of a really sneaky way round it would be to buy as a 'buy-to-let' and then "not be able to find tennants and have to move in yourselves to cover costs" Wink But not sure how feasible that is, and would probably be very stressful!

100years · 04/01/2012 21:07

AC glad you have cracked the to do list :) albeit later than planned. :)

Quod/Bebe that info re the mortgages before/after children is interesting, I didn't know that. OH did, but then he's all clued up on lots of things.

My super shattered has turned into a sore throat and losing my voice :( Harumpf, I'm hoping it doesn't go to my chest like last time, and I'm hoping it's right by Friday as LO's God Mother is coming to visit - a school friend of OH. :) She's very lovely and instead of sending a congratulations card to us, she sent and wrote a welcome to the world card to LO, thought it was a lovely touch, and also sent a 3 month birthday card! Hello everyone! DH and I have been booking our accommodation for the Big Trip. We're staying one night in a cottage at the Ahwahnee Hotel in Yosemite National Park which inspired some of the interiors in the film The Shining. We've also booked The Grand Hotel, which is beside the Grand Canyon! I am so excited now!

Bebe it sounds like you could have a sideline advising on WIIT mortgages! I'd love to get on the housing ladder before we have the baby, but we've not got all that much saved up by way of a deposit and all our cash is going on the trip at the moment. I don't like the idea of renting with a baby in tow, it's so uncertain.

Ooh Quod does that mean you might still be in with a chance this month? Do you usually get spotting?

100years oh dear are you a bit run down do you think? Hope your lovely friend gives you lots of tlc and cheers you up.

Awayinamangercooper · 05/01/2012 00:10

Bebe no I quite agree another year in limbo would be absolute crap.

bebejones · 05/01/2012 08:21

Oooh AC I'm excited for u that sounds fab!!

Thought 2011 was going to be better, bright things on the horizon... DH has been back at the office one day and already it looks like it's going to be as crap as 2009, 2010 & 2011 combined!!

bebejones · 05/01/2012 08:23

*2012 not 2011 stupid close together 'keys' on my iPhone!!

bebejones · 05/01/2012 09:45

Just put OBEM on & crying at the intro....best find the Kleenex!

Quodlibet · 05/01/2012 10:38

Oh I watched it last night Bebe, it's a good one but you're going to need those tissues I'm afraid.

100, sorry you are ill. Your friend's card sounds very sweet. Is Edith feeding more at the mo? My friend's baby who's the same age I think has an insatiable appetite at the moment and has gone from sleeping long stretches to needing to be fed every couple of hours.

AC yes I do normally get spotting (annoyingly) and yes I guess I am technically still in the runnings. Not even any spotting this morning - very odd. It's almost like my body is winding me up on purpose. Today is CD32 but I sometimes have cycles of 33 days so don't think it's worth testing til Saturday, presuming AF hasn't made a proper appearance by then.

bebejones · 05/01/2012 11:47

OMG How huge was that baby?!?! Shock No wonder the poor girl needed forceps! DD was 11lb at 10 weeks (I checked) so not that much bigger than his birth weight! Shock Blubbed over the soldier having to go to Afghanistan! :(

100 - Lots of warm drinks, and snuggling on the sofa with Edith then! :( Poor you x

Quod - How frustrating, your body is definitely trying to wind you up!! Wink

Awayinamangercooper · 05/01/2012 15:45

Good lord woman POAS immediately!

Awayinamangercooper · 05/01/2012 17:57

Ahem!

ShaggingProducesResults · 05/01/2012 18:50

I agree with Amanda. POAS!!!!

Awayinamangercooper · 05/01/2012 19:03

Has she still not done it? Honestly sometimes I think she doesn't love us at all! Grin

Quodlibet · 05/01/2012 19:34

Sorry people - cramps set in this afternoon and now I think AF is properly here. Still, saved myself a tenner! And at last maybe will have some brain-space to get on with the chapter I'm supposed to have finished before xmas be writing

Awayinamangercooper · 05/01/2012 19:56

Oh bugger, never mind then.

AC, yeah I think I might be a little run down, but you know everyone has colds at this time of year, so it's not surprising really. Your accommodation for TBT sounds fab.

Bebe :( sorry to hear about 2012 starting badly. I had a hot blackcurrant yesterday, was lovely, but not enough blackcurrant. Might do the same again in a bit. But loving the settee cuddles :)

Quod - I hope your cramps are better now. Yeah She is feeding more in the night, I think she's going through spurts here there and everywhere.

Hey WW :) Good to see you again. Yep, time consuming like sometimes you don't even believe yourself that the days gone so quickly. I hope his sleep settles down for you soon. I think I'm very lucky with Edith and her sleeping usually, much as she wakes in the night she is still a fairly good sleeper. The referral has (hopefully) gone through today for the tongue tie. 7 weeks, wow :)

Well I'm still not right yet, poorly sorely throat, although it's not as sore as I've had it before thankfully, but I'm still extremely croaky and sometimes I can't really speak. But never mind, I've done very little over the past couple of days.

Our friend did come today and we went out for lunch which was lovely. We had pre-warned her that I wasn't 100% so at least she could choose if she came or not, glad she did, was lovely to see her, and we actually discussed our current plans re number 2 etc, which was great to speak about.

Also went to the BF group this morning, and one of the HV is putting the referral through about the tongue tie, I'm hoping it will be soon that we get soon, I know it's a lot easier when they are younger, and I'd like it done before any weaning as I don't want a problem with weaning. The doc at the hosp said it was a mild tie and seemed to think nothing of it, the NCT lady who is at the BF group said it was an obvious tie and had no worries getting the HV to refer E. So I don't know if it's mild or not now, but she mostly seems to be feeding OK at the moment. I don't know if there is a thing with TT that they are done quickly or if there is a wait for the appointment, I should have asked. I will give it a week or two and if I haven't heard anything I will ring the NCT lady and ask her about it.

Oh and we've had rolls both ways now, although the one from on her tummy to her back again is not a 'I know how to do this so I'll do it lots' thing, more a ooh I managed to roll over again, hmm what now, oh yeah back onto my tummy. I think she needs lots of practice the other way from tummy to back.

WW cute little boy you've got there :)

Awayinamangercooper · 07/01/2012 09:08

Morning ladies! WW you have put the fear of god into me!

It sounds like its the lack of sleep that's really getting to you, doesn't it make such a difference if your baby randomly sleeps through or randomly likes to stay up all night! My best friend who has just had DC2 is finding it much harder this time round because LO is not such a placid, sleep loving baby as DC1 was. 7 weeks is supposed to be a really difficult time. Hope things get better very soon.

100years hope you are still on the mend! With bf everyone on MN always says most health professionals don't know that much about it, if I were you I'd work on the basis that it could well be more than mild and push to get it seen to just in case it makes a big difference. Well done Edith on the two way rolling, it must be fascinating to watch her develop.
