Endearing things DCs say wrongly that you don't correct

As in when they are tiny and learning to speak obv, not revising for Oxbridge entrance exam...

Mine are 'Larf!' for the note that follows 'Sew' in the song Doe a Dear, 'turk-noise' for turquoise, oh and she likes to eat a nice 'cereal bath' every so often. She has recently adapted 'Grandad' to 'Dadgrandad' having noticed I address him as 'Dad'. My Speech Therapist sister used to encourage her very early habit of saying 'moo' when she saw a dog because she found it hilarious, but I drew the line there...

Bit of indulgence for the weekend and I am sick so could use the distraction!

My DTDs both used to say the exact same words wrongly....was very sweet at the time.

afwa - water
sps sps - crisps
gollyot - chocolate!

akaemmafrost · 10/09/2011 14:58

Pank You for Thank You, I still say that to them now at 8 and 4.

Coca Nola for coke

bananamam · 10/09/2011 15:04

DS now 4 at age 2 used to say "kinky" for monkey and "fuck" for fox

We had many BlushGrin moments at these. And lots of other people go Shock when he shouted "KINKYS" at the zoo. We did try to correct these however

aStarInStrangeways · 10/09/2011 15:08

on our last trip to a museum DS had a great time looking at the 'snatchoos'.

every morning we are greeted with an accusatory cry of 'you're still in your ajamas!'

zoe88 · 10/09/2011 15:10

My Ds couldn't pronounce his Rs and my little brother and his friends recorded him saying rank and ranker! Almost killed them when I found out Grin
He says sings instead of things just now as well.

lapislazuli · 10/09/2011 15:15

Noble, I love schmoozi, I want to adopt it too!

I have just started making a record of DS1's terminology before I forget so have loads but a favourite is his belief that his Lightning McQueen toy says "I eat muesli for breakfast!" (when it should be losers) which is fine by me as long as he thinks it's cool to eat muesli.

Elephant is 'Effalunt' in our house
Squirrel is 'Squiffle' which I particularly like Grin
and for a while a screwdriver was a 'Goosestraffer' which was fab, I was very sad when he stopped saying it and sometimes still call it a goosestraffer out of habit. He's 3 now.

TwoNoisyBoys · 10/09/2011 15:59

My DS loves watching anything to do with Bear Grylls, but he calls him "Bear Gorillas" which I think is just Grin! I'll be gutted when he stops...........

mejon · 10/09/2011 16:00

DD1 (5) can never remember the word 'diarrhoea' (and I don't think I can spell it!) so we get 'Mum I've done a radiator' or 'I've done a raindeer' on the odd occasion she has the squits.

olibeansmummy · 10/09/2011 16:01

Ds is 2.3 and
Dinner is ninner
Icelolly is pop pop
Purple is purpoo
Red is reb
Buzz and woody are Bub and Wubby

Trampoline is a bounce bounce

redexpat · 10/09/2011 16:06

whoknowswho · 10/09/2011 16:10

Dressing Down (gown) is the favourite in our house!

DerekDrew · 10/09/2011 16:27

I often ask dd to say flamingo as it's so darn hilariousBlush. We either get flamimbo or flingo....

New cute words since starting school....

Pinaform=pinafore
pallap=palate
news=use

DerekDrew · 10/09/2011 16:28

Oh and ohbow for elbow!

pantaloons · 10/09/2011 16:32

We also have dressing downs and coni, which is a mixture of costume and bikini when it comes to going swimming.

DD2 is currently singing frere jacques, buts sings fuckin who for the second line instead of dormez-vous. She will not be told otherwise and is both stubborn to the core and fantastically loud! Not sure where she gets that from!

LadyInPink · 10/09/2011 16:49

I am wiping away the tears from pantaloons DD version of Frere Jacques - priceless.

We used to have a laugh with DD as a 3yr old by making her say Neapoliton (as in the ice cream), she would come up with pipilopiton, nipolipiton etc and we would scream with laughter, bless her.

MichaelBooblie · 10/09/2011 16:50

They have all recently had chicken pocks which DD (3) called chicken pops.
She also calls the pavement the pav-e-ment.
'I fort' is 'I thought'

MichaelBooblie · 10/09/2011 16:52

Ice wally for ice lolly even though she can say her L's perfectly well.

ChillyCooper · 10/09/2011 16:54

I know I should have corrected this, but it's making me laugh too much..

2yo DS playing racing games with his little mates in the park. Getting them all to line up nicely before yelling.. "READY.... SEX.... GO!"

Fleecy · 10/09/2011 16:59

DS insists that a skunk is called a 'stunk' which makes so much more sense! And we have dinosaurus rex too.

Both DC went through a Dora the Explorer phase and we heard a lot about Swiper the Fuck...

laurenfield · 10/09/2011 17:00

Away in a manger no crib for a bed,
The little malteser lays down his sweet head.

When she was three. now she's 12 and rapping - not so cute!

MichaelBooblie · 10/09/2011 17:00

ChillyCooper ha ha, that is funny !

chocolateyclur · 10/09/2011 17:01

Whilst I was sneakily having some sweets...

DS: can I have one?
Me: no, you might choke on toffees
DS: when I'm a big boy, I can have totties.

Yep, that's a given.

cantpooinpeace · 10/09/2011 17:03

DD says "I can't believe my eyebrows mummy"
