Overpopulation

Dear mums or mums to be,

If you are having doubts over having a child -
please consider the fact that in a few months time we will
have passed the 7 billion (!!!) marker.

Planet earth is being choked by our careless reproduction.

If you must have children, why not skip the horrible pregnancy thing,

and put that energy into adopting a child. At least in our developed, equal societies women can actually choose to not breed.

A while ago i'd become pregnant by accident for about a month and got an abortion straight away. ( i dont want my own children)
Pregnancy was in my humble opinion an absolute nightmare, i can not fathom how anyone would want to go through nine months of feeling like a puke bucket if there are millions of children up for adoption.

You could give those children a real chance instead of selfishly deciding for a baby, just so it can look like you.

It is an important and interesting issue, and genuinely taboo I reckon. Recently I considered applying for a job at the Optimum Population Trust, and decided I just wouldn't be able to handle the impact on my relationships with mothers of more than two children. There just aren't ways to discuss it that are socially acceptable, and won't come across as provocative or offensive to vast numbers of lovely, reasonable people. And of course you get the Nazi/China accusations within seconds...

Which may be why the territory is over-occupied by people who don't mind coming across as offensive or provocative. Like the OP.

Oh, but frances: do please find out something about adoption before you start preaching to other women that they should do it.

I get what you're saying but are you seriously saying you terminated a pregnancy because you don't want your own children then come on here and tell us we should go for adoption?! Adoption isn't exactly a straightforward process and only 50% of adoption are successful long term.
I think careless reproduction is pushing it too. I'm.not greedy, I alerts said I wanted two kids but after 19 months ttc dc#1 and still no joy, I think I would be delighted with one. Maybe your post should be aimed at the women who has been in the papers who has 13 children?!

Oh yes my point with my first statement is those babies wouldn't be there to adopt if their mothers had chosen to terminate their pregnancies (not sure if I made that clear?!). That's why it seems ironic.

Your post is massively insensitive OP. There are women who have gone through some terrible experiences on here trying to have a child /children. And to call us selfish for wanting children 'just so they look like us' makes you sound deranged and frankly a bit of a weirdo.

Please post your crap somewhere else and leave us to try to 'over populate' the world.

I won't even bother with an answer about adoption not being equal to wanting to conceive never mind the complicated red tape surrounding adoption which mean lots of people who would consider it would never be able to adopt.
