Is there any such thing as a typical Mumsnetter?

I've been thinking about this today (and, ooh, I've been so good: stayed off MN, did lots of work, and cleaned the house top to bottom, mopping, vacuuming, dusting - the lot!) Sorry ..original question. So, is there?

In my head, most Mumsnetters are in relationships (married or cohabiting), in their 30s, working (I mean paid work - outside the home or from home), have two children (below the age of 10), and I reckon most live in Britain and the South of Britain at that.

Is there any basis for my wild assumptions (and I know loads of MNers don't fit these criteria - can think of several off the top of my head)?

And - even more pertinent - can we find out without anyone taking offence?! I am not saying this is the 'ideal' MNer (obviously because that's me, and I don't match the description )

roosmum · 23/11/2005 21:14

well, i'm married with a youngish baby...

...but, no to the rest of it - i'm 24, a graduate student & a welsh northener!

zebratwizzler · 23/11/2005 21:15

I don't think there is such a thing as a "typical" MNetter.

FrenchKissUnderMistletoeGirl · 23/11/2005 21:15

yep that's me too but only have the one child (unless you count dh + dog hahahah)

but am smelly foreigner

marthamoo · 23/11/2005 21:15

Right, I'm off for wine, Medium, and Lost now but I will be back to check my findings later. Then I will compile my results and log them into a comprehensive spreadsheet, various pie charts and Venn diagrams and the average characteristics of a typical MNer. What am I talking about? The idael MNer (ie., me) does not do maths

Oh thank god.... no boden here either!

I do receive catalogues, but I only keep them to show my friends the ridiculous price for a vest top! Gets me every time.
