Hello :)

Well I had my sweep yesterday.... was told I was the calmest sweep she's every done :) [proud of myself emoticon] and that I was about 1.5cm dilated. However this could mean anything and I could be days yet or it could be sooner than that. Who knows. But yes it's exciting stuff now :)

Please keep this off Facebook as I'm keeping a low profile on there as to what's happening, will be waiting till the big announcement before FB gets wind of movements. Ta muchly. :)

Calmest Sweep?!! What on earth do people usually do?! Hmm :o How exciting that you are already a little dilated!! Eeeeeek! Are we placing bets on when LO will arrive? I reckon Monday, early hours! Labour starting Sunday. :o

100years · 01/09/2011 21:22

Apparently people make all kinds of fuss over it. I said nothing just lay there relaxed and let her do her thing.

I'm still reckoning on the dream, it was either the 3rd or 4th at 2:59 am!!! Weighing either 7lb13 or 8lb13. Judging by my bump and measurement I reckon I'm in for the 8lb13 option!!! Lol

bebejones · 01/09/2011 21:49

Hmm My sweep didn't even hurt! Silly women!!! Wink Glad it all went ok! Fingers crossed that something 'happens' over the weekend! Eeeeek!!!

100years · 02/09/2011 16:07

Yeah, apparently there was this one woman who could be heard swearing downstairs in a 3 storey house by the student MW who was in the living room while the MW did the sweep!

OP posts:
bebejones · 02/09/2011 18:47

Bet she was great fun to be around in labour then?! Hmm

Any news? Any twinges??

WW - nice to see you back (It's bebe btw, I just name changed & am testing it out!!) What are your plans for the nursery?

Can't believe you are 28 weeks already!! That has gone SO fast!!!!! Shock

Don't think I'll be talking to DH anytime soon, things not good tbh, although there are glimpses of broodiness from him. I'm best biding my time for now. Don't want to rock the boat!!

100years · 04/09/2011 12:32

No news I'm afraid Bebe, Although I did think it might be starting last night! Stopped when I got up. Have had a few pains this morning, but nothing too bad and it's not getting more frequent. Going to have a long walk this afternoon after lunch and hopefully get things going that way.

Of course we missed you WW :):( Good to see you, and yay for being very nearly 29 weeks. Little boy yay, fabulous. :) They do sweeps at 40 weeks and will do up to 3 of them I think. I know someone who had one a week early too. If nothing has happened by tomorrow morning I'm thinking of ringing the midwife and asking her to do another one if she had chance to pop round.

bebejones · 04/09/2011 12:39

I'm 'me' again...but still on hunt for new name!!

WW it'll be tonight! Rememeber my prediction! Wink

100years · 04/09/2011 12:43

I blinking hope you meant me tonight and not WW Bebe. :) I know you did.

Hi everyone! I've not been very good at posting here lately, turns out that life with a small baby is busy!!

Huge congratulations wyorkslass, how are things going now?

And good luck to you 100years, fingers crossed you don't have to wait too long :)

Things are good here, DD is 9.5 weeks now, and changing rapidly! I am even getting stretches of 5 hour sleep at night now :) Am contemplating taking her on her first overnight trip later in the month.

Blush Yes meant 100 not WW!!

Squirrel - yay on the 5 hours stretchs of sleep! I remember the first time DD did midnight til 6am, it was utter bliss!! Hopefully there will be no looking back now! Wink

bebejones · 04/09/2011 19:56

WW - lovely nursery stuff...the mobile is adorable!! :)

100years · 05/09/2011 14:06

Aaaah Squirrel, can't believe how the time has flown by. Proper little person now, no doubt.

WW lovely to see all your stuff you have bought, looks fabulous :) We are having a little (lazy) girl. :)

Yesterday went out for a walk with OH and we were discussing the wedding plans, think we will be getting married in his church, the one he has been to since a child and his mum is a warden there, just got to wait for LO to appear and then plan when we are going to do it and try and plan things properly :)

Have arranged for more head tickling action tomorrow - unless of course that bucks her ideas up and she makes a sharp exit! LOL Having a day to rest today, been very busy recently and thing maybe I need to conserve my energy a little bit, plus my PGP is playing up a little so a rest will help that feel better. :)

Have a good day everyone.

OP posts:
MrsSatsuma · 05/09/2011 17:16

Can someone tell me what a sweep is?! Blush (spot the childless, non-pg one...)

100 hope LO makes an appearance soon! Must be so frustrating waiting. Take it easy Smile

WW you sound like you've got it all planned out well. I love the idea of a safari theme!

Squirrel hope you're not too tired! Must be one heck of a shock to the system no matter how overjoyed you are to have them around

Bebe how are you feeling at the mo? Are you still off the meds? Hope you haven't had bad symptoms lately. Is your DH a bit less stressed at all?

Back to school today... Argh! Have spent it listening to new initiatives, trying to organise things for this term, and sorting out my classroom. There is NEVER enough time on training days to get everything done!!

Does anyone fancy doing another stats update? I have completely lost track..!!

bebejones · 05/09/2011 18:44

MrsS - Sweep, or stretch & sweep, is when the MW tries to stretch your cervix and sweep the membranes with her finger! (Sounds gross when it's written down like that!) It's supposed to encourage the onset of labour as well as being an indication of how dilated you might be.

I am feeling good thanks for asking. Not on meds (coming up to a year since I stopped) and has been over a year since I had a big relapse!

100 - take it easy, you need all your energy, it's not called labour for nothing!! Wink Ok, so my guess of Monday is clearly not right.........erm...Thursday, night?! Hmm

ShaggingProducesResults · 05/09/2011 19:14

Evening all!!
Trying to catch up after holibobs but BabyBrain has kicked in so I can;t remember much!!

Welcome back WhyWait - exciting to have everything ordered and to be almost 3/4 of the way through!!

100 SO glad I haven't missed her appearance! Can we have a labourwatch theme to the thread this week please?!?!?

bebe minibebe looked so cute on her 1st day at school. Hope that she had fun. I think a baby is a much better idea than a new cat. And as ??? (sorry BBrain) said, minibebe wants a sibling but the cat might not like a new feline friend!!

MrsS happy to do a stats update. We could start a new thread as this one is nearing the end and the stats on page 1 are quite out of date.

Everyone else sorry if I have forgotten you or missed you out..... I am useless!!!

bebejones · 05/09/2011 19:52

Welcome back SPR! Did you have a lovely holiday, where did you go? Hows the morning sickness? DD had a fabulous time at preschool thank you! (Proper school next year, I feel sick with nerves about the application process coming up!! :()

AmandaCooper · 05/09/2011 20:28

Hi everyone. Just reporting back for duty after a brief vacation from the thread (not an actual holiday unfortunately!)

Bebe assures me that noone minds listening to me moan and that I should not be concerned about ruining everyone's pregnancy experience by boringly droning on about DH and his fear of fatherhood... So here are my top gripes of the day:

  1. My secretary is 4 weeks pregnant, she told me this morning;
  2. My male colleague described me as "the least maternal person I know" at a work night out on Friday; and
  3. A woman who was on the waiting thread with me two years ago is back waiting to TTC number 2.

Shocking!

Missed you all dreadfully btw!

bebejones · 05/09/2011 20:45

Big Un-MN hugs AC! So glad you came back :)

AmandaCooper · 05/09/2011 21:14

Thanks Bebe x

ShaggingProducesResults · 05/09/2011 21:40

Oh yay. Welcome back AC. Bebe is right too. If you think about it it's the diffed amongst us who should feel bad posting as this was initially a waiting thread!!

I've said it once and I'll say it again "you are a stronger and better person than me"

Your male colleague is a twat BTW. I mean come on....... Who actually says that to a married woman of childbearing age?!?!

Hols was ok. Sickness was still present but I only missed 3 days of sun staying in bed so it's progress!!!

AmandaCooper · 05/09/2011 22:25

Or weaker and stupider!

My male colleague was probably paying me a compliment about my extreme career-womanliness. Silly man.
