Hello everyone! Sorry I have been AWOL for a while - have been away off and on for last three weeks and wanted to avoid massive data roaming charges... Have just about caught up and will add in my tuppennoth when I'm on an actual computer rather than a tiddly phone keyboard!

Quodlibet · 19/08/2011 14:11

Welcome back MrsS! Have you been anywhere nice?

Bebe have you seen the thread about ideal age gaps? I thought of you, there's lots of diverse opinions on there but I don't know if it would just confirm your existing thinking?! Is there anything you can do to oversee getting the flat/tenants situation moving which might take some of the strain off DH, and give you the feeling of doing something positive?

100 your poor little niece! How little is she?

bebejones · 19/08/2011 15:11

Welcome back MrsS!! Have you been anywhere lovely?

Quod - Did briefly look at the thread & decided I'm feeling a bit wobbly & emotional today so probably not a good idea!! Flat is in hand. Bloke going in to sort the floor out in the morning & then will get the worktops & top cupboards replaced. Got a new fridge/freezer arriving there 2moro too. DHs PA is the one who is usually in charge of the flat/tenants etc. I try to keep out of it as much as possible. (It's a bit of an issue for me & DH, coz I wanted to sell it, but his dad convinced him to switch it to a buy-to-let mortgage when we moved out...this was of course before the damn credit crunch!! Angry)

Done a spot of retail therapy today. Got a small photo album & printed some photos of my friends cake & cake toppers under construction. It's my gift to her. (Apart from the cake, which was my actual present to her IYSWIM) Hope she likes it! :) Off out to garden centre then Tesco! I lead such a glamourous life....NOT!!! Hmm

squirrel007 · 20/08/2011 10:49

I never got BH or that melon between the legs feeling!

Quod - it'd be great if you could start ttc before the end of the year. I started in Oct last year, and we did have to miss a wedding abroad in May as I was too pg to attend!

100years - lol @ sitting on a binbag Grin and exciting about the backache and cramp, maybe this is the start? Hope your niece feels better soon

MrsS - hope you had a good trip

Bebe - we have a 2nd flat rented put, and it's definitely a good investment. Buying a house is so expensive that it does often make financial sense to keep an old one for rental if you can afford it. But you do need tenants in to make it worthwhile!

All is good here :) baby squirrel is still calm so life is much easier! She has obviously grown though and has lost her newborn look. She's started looking around a lot more ( and refusing to sleep when she's tired as the world is too interesting!)

100years · 20/08/2011 14:52

Hope you had a fabulous time MrsS

Quod, she is 6, but she is a tiny tot especially compared to her very tall older 8 yr old sister!

bebe, hope you had fun retail therapying :)

squirrel, well I'm now on a waterproof picnic blanket, so I'm a little bit more posh than bin bag now :) Think the antibiotics have been given in time, the plan is for them to come over tomorrow, and that's still the plan, so keeping fingers crossed. I can't wait to be writing about my LO like you are.

I swear my bump gets lower every day at the moment! Gone back down a back size in my bras now, and have my first nursing bra, only bought one, in case I need to get a bigger or smaller one when my milk actually comes in.

Massive BH last night again. Still reckon I've got ages yet, feeling far too good and happy about being preg at the moment for her to arrive yet!!! LOL

MrsSatsuma · 20/08/2011 22:17

So much happening!!

100 and WYorks - so exciting you're both nearly there! FX for you for everything going smoothly. What are your due dates? (I have lost count... There are so many pregnancies now to keep up with!)

Quod - exciting that you might be ttc soon. Hope everything goes to plan. Have you spoken to your DH about timing again, or are you waiting off the moment?

Bebe - sorry about the party palaver. Was Angry on your behalf! Glad dd's birthday was good. Have you spoken to your DH about what consultant said yet? Surely he can't disagree with medical opinion about when to ttc? [gruffalo stirs and opens one eye]

Has anyone seen nannyl or AC?

I was on holiday for two weeks which was lovely, though weather on and off and spent a lot of it in a car (getting stuck in s traffic jam is not fun when you're driving halfway across Europe!). Also managed to coincide driving days with the best weather which wasnt good. I feel cheated by the rubbish weather this year! I've not even worn half my clothes!!

DH is keen to ttc but I still want to wait... School trip abroad next summer and being bridesmaid foe best friend in June. Plan is to start ttc dec or jan, but how can I let my friend get my dress while knowing I might be pregnant (might!!) and therefore not fit into it?

Started feeling like I need to live more... In my early 20s all I wanted was a house, secure job, and family. Now I want to enjoy myself and go out and do things, including without DH (we've always been pretty much joined at the hip). I feel like I'm doing things the wrong way round! Is this normal??

MrsSatsuma · 20/08/2011 22:19

Forgot....[waves to Squirrel, Strawberry, and Minipie] Smile

minipie · 22/08/2011 10:31

MrsS think AC has signed off after the latest u turn by her DH Sad. Think the "mini mid life crisis" is quite common - especially among people who spent their early 20s being quite sensible!

bebe glad the doctor was positive about TTCing now ish.

It's TTC week for me, wish me luck!

Quodlibet · 22/08/2011 10:38

Aw at baby squirrel and her interest in the world! I've always imagined it must be fascinating trying to work out what they are experiencing and how much of the world is starting to make sense to them when they are little.

Bebe blimey sounds like you've blitzed the flat - hope you get some tenants in soon. Squirrel's prob right about it being a great investment despite the hassle - and there are lovely, hassle-free, long-term tenants in the world, promise! We've got the opposite problem I suppose in that it feels like we'll always be at the mercy of landlords as I can't see how we'd ever buy in London.

MrsS a shame about your holiday weather, I don't think anyone's had any good weather this summer! I don't think there's anything weird in you feeling like you want to 'live' a bit, do you think it is the TTC that has focused your mind? Is there anything in particular you have in mind that you'd like to do? BTW I don't think you should plan your TTC around a bridesmaids dress - I'm sure your friend would understand and wouldn't expect you to put it off.

Saying that I'm the one putting off TTC for an overseas wedding! Squirrel how pg is too pg to go to a wedding abroad (Cyprus so not too far)?

We haven't decided a fixed date to start TTC and have only had vague conversations about it, but it feels a lot like the resistance on his part is coming to an end. I don't feel the need to bring it up at the moment and would rather see where we are in a couple of months I think, once the lay of the land is clearer.

Had a lovely weekend this weekend with a large part of my large extended family celebrating my dad's birthday (he's one of 5 siblings so I have loads of cousins), lots of happy beach fun and messing about in boats, it made me realise I really like being part of a big family and I hope my kids get that to some degree - it's getting harder and harder to get everyone together these days.

squirrel007 · 22/08/2011 14:09

100years I've not had much luck with nursing bras fitting well. I ordered a couple in my size at 36 weeks which are now slightly too small. So I ordered some in the next size up, only I didn't realise that between D and E there is an extra DD size in the middle, so I had to send them back!

mrsS don't worry about the bridesmaid dress, it can presumably be altered if needed. And you could always point your friend in the direction of empire line dresses ;) What sort of things do you want to get out and do? I think that planning kids can really focus the mind on what you want to do before they arrive!

good luck minipie!! Grin

quod I would have been flying to Asia at about 33-34 weeks, so decided that wasn't really a good idea. Although I'm sure that plenty of people would have done it! As it was, that was about the time that the diabetes was diagnosed, so I'm glad that we didn't plan to go.

Today I'm having a relaxed day at home to make up for a busy day yesterday. DH and I decided to go out to a nearby village for a day trip, and DD was so interested in everything that she hardly slept all day. Leading to meltdown in the evening Confused So today I am carrying her around in the sling at home which is keeping her mostly asleep :)

100years · 23/08/2011 08:47

Thanks MrsS :) Due on 1st Sept which is next thursday and I think WYorks is due this thursday! Shock Defo not long now for either of us. I know what you mean about being stuck in a car on the best weather days, when we went away in June the weather was fabulous the day we drove down, and then never as good on the other days! Hope you work out a good solution to the potential being preg and bridesmaid. Have spoken to NannyL on FB, she is doing well, less sick than she was Grin which is fab for her.

mini, good luck this week, go do some awesome SWI.

Quod, I think the cut off for most airlines is 27 or 28 weeks so long as you have a healthy pregnancy. Glad you had a good weekend :)

Squirrel, I'm not sure what I will go up to, but I could get away with wearing the bra now, but also there is loads of room in it for growth, so I think unless I turn into pamela anderson or something like that I will be OK. Fingers crossed. Oh yes, and I bought a moby sling after reading some good reviews, nice to know another WIIT has one :)

Off out today to meet another september lady :) She doesn't live too far from me, so off for tea and cake.

Bump is making it's way southwards! seems to drop every day now. Still feeling weird down below. Very tired and was tearful yesterday, and although I'm not fed up yet, I would really like her to make an appearance soon!

Scan tomorrow :) So get to see her again, and hopefully get another idea of how big a baby I'm likely to be pushing out of me. Don't know if I mentioned it, but I had a dream that was basically me making an announcement saying that baby 100 was born at 2:59 am! I can't remember the weight it was either 7lb13 or 8lb13 and I can't remember the date, but now have it in my head that it's the 3rd Sept! I will obviously be totally wrong and she will arrive mid day on some day far away from the 3rd Sept!

MrsSatsuma · 23/08/2011 09:38

Ooh 100 how weird would it be if that was all true?! So exciting that it's getting so close...

Good luck for this week minipie - FX for you.

Nearly back to the grindstone for me... Good news is that my A level kids all passed - bad news that GCSE still to come out and I have shedloads of work before term starts. Booooo!

MrsSatsuma · 23/08/2011 17:31

Oh - and in answer to the what do I want to do questions... DH and I have always been known as a bit of a double act - even before we were going out (we were best friends). I've always liked that - but lately I've been feeling like I need to establish myself on my own. It's not that I love him any less, or enjoy spending time with him any less, but I want to do more things on my own. We've always had a lot of the same friends, and I'm now starting to make other friends, and do things on my own, which I'm enjoying. Can't seem to get him to understand that without hurting his feelings though Confused

ShaggingProducesResults · 23/08/2011 17:32

Eeek!! Scan in 2 hours time. Very excited and a bit nervous that my dates are a bit out and they won't be able to do the Nuchal test. Fingers crossed everybody that all is well and we can start telling people :)

100years · 23/08/2011 18:36

I know MrsS. It wouldn't be the first thing I've dreamt that has come true, but I reckon it would be the only thing that won't happen like that! Great news about the kids all passing :) :( for your DH not understanding without taking it personally.

SPR, hope everything goes OK for you .

OP posts:
Quodlibet · 23/08/2011 18:46

OOH SPR that is exciting - come back and tell us how it went. Can't believe 6 weeks have gone by so fast!

MrsS, that makes sense to me, although I can understand how hard it must be to explain in a way that doesn't make him feel rejected or like he's getting 'less' of you, even though he's not. Unless he's got an equal urge to spend some time on himself it's just going to be a bit unbalanced for a while isn't it? You sound very thoughtful in the way you're handling it though.

100 what a weird dream! Have you had a better day today?
I woke up in the middle of the night last night with a really complex problem that I've been battling with my chapter totally clear as a bell in my head, so I got up and wrote it all down, and miraculously have discovered this morning that it's not all nonsense, it's actually the solution I needed. So strange what our sleeping imaginations can do, isn't it?

bebejones · 24/08/2011 12:25

SPR - How did it go? Hope you are ok?

100 - How very spooky if it did come true!! Confused Hope Nannyl is ok, she hasn't visited us here in ages!! Good Luck for scan :)

MrsS - that is a difficult situation. I can sympathise a little with you, DH & I are pretty much best friends & he struggles when I want to go out & do things with new friends I have made. He used to be very sociable when he was younger but has drifted away from his friends a lot lately so it's difficult for him IYKWIM?

Feeling awful today. Have got a horrid cold which I think is moving onto my chest, can hear a rattle when I breathe! :( And this morning I had to rush my cat back to the vets (he had been in there since Saturday & I only brought him home last night) and had to make the awful decision to have him put to sleep. :( DH got him for me just after my dad died & he was such a softie (even though he was a bit of a grumpy old man) DD just adored him. Feeling very weepy, but at least I got to have some cuddles with him at home last night & it was the kindest thing to do. He isn't suffering anymore :(

MrsSatsuma · 24/08/2011 12:41

Oh bebe poor you Sad Sending um-MN hugs. Hope you feel better soon.

ShaggingProducesResults · 24/08/2011 13:47

Oh Bebe that is awful for you. It's never nice to have to have pets put down but I am sure that it is for the best and he won't have to suffer.

My scan went well. I have a retroverted uterus and so ended up having to have the dildo cam (nice!!) but we got some great pics of the little one and have now told family and friends.

All super super exciting and I am also starting to feel a lot more human and so that bodes well for going on holiday tomorrow!!

Quodlibet · 24/08/2011 14:11

SPR really glad to hear that your scan went well, does this mean a new round of telling people the news?

Oh Bebe, I'm so very sorry to hear about your cat, poor thing. It's so heartbreaking to lose a pet isn't it? I'm sure you did the right thing to relieve his suffering, but I know it can be so difficult to deal with nonetheless, especially when they've been a part of your life for a long time. Sending a hug for you.

Quodlibet · 24/08/2011 14:24

Doh! SPR I think I had a brain wibble at the mention of the dildocam and didn't read the end of your sentence!

ShaggingProducesResults · 24/08/2011 14:39

I don't blame you!!!
I sent DH out for that bit as have had one before and it's not terribly dignified!!!

The sonographer took a video for him as well as lots of pics and he saw a little bit when they tried the usual way so he didn't feel too left out!!!

bebejones · 24/08/2011 15:27

Thanks my lovelies! :) Feeling less weepy now DH is home.

SPR - glad scan & LO was/are ok. Clueless...what is a retroverted uterus? Confused

ShaggingProducesResults · 24/08/2011 17:36

It points backwards rather than forwards/up. Ha absolutely no impact other than making scanning a bit tricky.

Glad your DH is home to cheer you up.

bebejones · 24/08/2011 18:02

Oooooh fancy!!! Wink
