PS what's LOA?!

100years · 11/08/2011 15:20

Don't be disappointed in yourself, sometimes other things take more energy out of you than you realise.

LOA is Left Occipito Anterior, basically means she's head down, facing back and lying on the left. AFAIK The OA is the best position for birth as it means the smallest part of her head is in the right position to make an easier exit! all explained here

Spoke a little too soon on the sickness :(, had some home made guacamole for my lunch, not sure if it was the raw onion in it or anything else, but I feel a little sick, don't think I will be sick, but it's not the nicest feeling. I'm sure it will pass in a little while :)

Hello 100, I am here! Glad your LO is in a good position. Mine has decided to be the wrong way up! She was breech for the first time when I had my appointment last week. (31 weeks) I am considering kneeling upside down off the sofa and lying down on an ironing board after visiting a website about turning breech babies- wish me luck!

Not much news here apart from went to a breast feeding meeting that was really useful...also went to a Wedding and on a boat trip in the Lake District this weekend. The good news is I don't have to work any more weekends before I finish for Maternity leave in about 4 weeks, Yay!

Don't beat yourself up quod.

Sorry to hear about your OH's behaviour bebe, I hope he has realised the error of his ways and apologised.

How are you feeling SPR and WYL? How are you whywait and nannyl? Any updates re:The Big Trip AC?

100years · 15/08/2011 11:03

Hey Strawberry, I want to call you strawbs for some reason! Maybe because it's what I call strawberries sometimes. Good luck with turning the little one. I've been really really lucky as she went head down at about 24 weeks and hasn't turned, now we are engaged and keeping fingers crossed. Glad the BF meeting was good, I forgot about the one that was on last week, and unless I go to the weekly meet at the docs the next one at the hosp is when I am 39 weeks. Maybe go there and hope all the BF talk etc will bring baby out! Yay for matty leave :)

Waiting hopefully for the cot to come today, think it's in transit to us now, fingers crossed.

OP posts:
minipie · 15/08/2011 11:30

I'm sulking due to still not being pg.

No, seriously, how is everyone? Strawb that sounds, er, entertaining - do be careful won't you! She's got a few weeks left to get herself upside down though, fingers crossed for you.

100 hope the sickness has gone - guacamole sounds yummy though! Gosh only 2 and a half weeks to go for you!

bebe how are you? Has your DH sorted things with his dad? in fact, has he sorted things out with you...? And how was your DD's actual birthday?

AC guess you have signed off ...?

100years · 15/08/2011 11:36

mini, I know, and I am now at the point where even if she decided she wanted to stay in there I have only a month to go, as it's 31 days until I'm 2 weeks overdue, so yay :) Sickness flares up every now and again, but not actually being sick thankfully. Sorry you are still not updiffed, keeping fingers crossed for you.

OP posts:
Quodlibet · 15/08/2011 12:24

Haha! I have just emailed my work having spent a large chunk of yesterday on it, so am now free to arse about on mn do other things.

100 your wikilink to the LOA page had me fascinated and wincing (sorry) at the same time. It was something about the picture of cephalic presentation where the baby's feet are basically right next to your spine and all I could think about was being kicked in the slipped disc! ouch. I'm sure it's not like that though

Minipie, can you find a way to make sulking fun? Set up a system of extravagant rewards that you can only do if not pg? Oysters and rollercoasters, that kind of thing?

Strawberry I am idly wondering if you were at the same Lakes wedding as my friend this weekend?!

Bebe where are you? Worried by your radio silence.

Quodlibet · 15/08/2011 12:30

PS Over here I'm trying to make a decision about whether to bother with charting for the next couple of months or not. Pros: it's nice knowing where I am in cycle and it means we can have UPS at safe time once OV is out the way. Cons: I think it makes me think about the whole thing far too much as it's the first thing you do in the morning! I reckon now we might TTC in maybe November or December, and knowing (after last month's obsessing) exactly how much head-space it can take up once you actually are TTC, maybe I want a few months off while I still can? Thoughts?

minipie · 15/08/2011 13:09

well done! I need to get my head down at work, got loads to do!

Non pg fun idea is good. I just had a large coffee - does that count [lame emoticon]. Maybe I need to go get some delicious unpasteurised cheese, and scoff it all before the next 2WW.

I wouldn't chart if I were you. If you're fairly regular you'll know roughly when OV is anyway. But then I would say that since I find charting too much of a faff even tho I'm TTCing!

Right, over and out, got to get some work done.

bebejones · 15/08/2011 15:13

Hello!!! Sorry been AWOL!

Strawberry - good luck with the turning! Scrubbing floors on your hands and knees is supposed to be good, also putting something cold on bump at head end so that they move away from it! Hmm

100 - All sounding good! Has cot arrived yet?

Quod - I would think that the charting might make you a bit obsessive about it. But that's probably just me!!

Minipie - Chin up chick! Agree that maybe you should 'celebrate' (or should that be commiserate) by doing things you won't be able to do when you get that BFP!

DDs actual birthday (Tuesday) was fantastic, we had such a lovely day out at the Cotswold Wildlife Park. :) FIL came round in the evening to bring presents, I have forgiven, but I'm not prepared to forget in a hurry. :(

Went to Tewkesbury to meet up with my mum again on Thursday (had a fabulous time & DD got some new shoes!)

Then decided to go away from Friday til today and spend the weekend with my mum. DH had crazy work stuff to do (things not good...again) & it was better than sitting around the house & feeling resentful & arguing! Have eaten SO much, I am still full from the weekend. Love going to my mums, although it is not good for my diet!

Got my consultants appointment 2moro, think I'm going on my own! :(

Have spoken with AC (fb) and she is off MN for now. :(

squirrel007 · 15/08/2011 15:50

Hi all! I've been following the thread but not finding much time to post - DD is quite a lot of work! She was asleep mostly for the first couple of weeks, which was easy for me, but now she is awake a lot more and needs a lot more cuddles and entertaining :) Plus the past week or so she's been really fussy, maybe 6 week growth spurt? I've taken to putting her in a sling as it really calms her down and lets me get on with stuff too.

I've also been going round the sales and buying all the cheap cute baby clothes :) thought I'd buy a few things that she could wear next summer while they're on sale. DD is going to be better dressed than me!

Cannot believe the next WIIT baby is almost here Grin

100years · 15/08/2011 16:28

Quod, I think the fact that you are now free to do other things is great :) Re the kicking, my LO has been kicking me at the front, I've not felt any kicks in my back, likewise I've only felt kicks in my ribs if I am sat properly hunched over, been quite lucky not to have feet in my ribs. My placenta is at the back though, so whether that has got anything to do with it, I'm not 100% sure. Fingers crossed for Nov or Dec, we officially started in November last year, got pg in December (birthday weekend Wink) I know I was VERY lucky to catch so early, and will always remember that fact.

mini, anything you can't do when pg counts, no lame emoticons :)

Hey Bebe, no not yet, think it may now be here tomorrow, who knows, I might put this down and it arrive as soon as I stop typing. Sometimes last minute things like trips places are the best ones. Fingers crossed for tomorrow.

Hiya Squirrel, aw, I can't wait for my LO to be here and have all of that to come. I have a sling too, so will be making the most of that if I need to. And lovely to hear of the baby clothes for next summer!

Yeah WYL is next then meeeeeeeeeeee Shock

ShaggingProducesResults · 15/08/2011 18:03

Hi All

I've not been online that much these last few weeks so am very behind on everything. Picked up my sick note this morning and the Dr has put HG on there as the reason........ I'm not actually being sick thoughand they won;t perscribe me anything because of this so I guess it's easier than me trying to explain nausea as the reason I'll have had a total of 5 weeks off work bt the time my sick leave ends!!

Am getting on ok but just a bit lonely during the week and really frustrated that I am stuck at home 24/7. I guess it could be worse though so I keep telling myself to try and stay positive.

Had a text from DH this afternoon. He went to John Lewis in his lunchbreak to look at travel systems....... Hard to imagine that a year ago he was very anti starting a familyfor a long time. He's now really excited (if a little bit stressed by how ill the PG is making me! he's said that he hopes it is twins as he doen't want to watch me go through this again!) and I'm sure all the gadgetry appeals to him!

Will tyr an catch up and reply to everybody else but to all those having a tough time and I'm keeping everything crossed that those due soon have a stress free few weeks!

100years · 16/08/2011 05:18

Hey SPR, good to see you, like I said before it's a horrible part of the pregnancy feeling rubbish like that, hopefully it will pass soon, for me it was around 16 weeks after a brief respite at 12 weeks. Find yourself some nice DVD box sets and watch them. I watched all of Cold Feet in the initial pregnancy stages, have ER lined up for in a week or two time! Aw to your DH :)

OP posts:
Quodlibet · 16/08/2011 09:20

Aw SPR that does sound rubbish, horrid being on your own when you feel sick isn't it? Seconding the box sets idea, have you seen The Wire or The Sopranos?

Bebe I'm glad DD's actual birthday was so lovely. Good luck at your consultants, let us know how it goes.

Squirrel wow can't believe you're at 6 weeks already - how do you entertain a baby that little? Sounds like fun doing sale shopping for the future, a really clever idea.

I'm off to the countryside today for a few days for my dad's birthday and a little get away - DP is in the throes of the final stage of The Big Project (WHICH LOOKS LIKE IT MIGHT ACTUALLY FINISH ON TIME Shock) so he's rubbish company at the mo anyway. But check out the light at the end of my tunnel!

100years · 16/08/2011 14:28

Cot is here and all set up :) Woohoo.

Have a good time Quod :) Loving the light at the end of the tunnel :)

Midwife been. Head is more engaged, bump has dropped, feeling very odd in my undercarriage! Done my birth plan and now it's time to rest/go shopping!

OP posts:
WYorksLass · 16/08/2011 14:54

Good news 100 years!

Just got back from midwife and junior is more engaged too. He's now at 2/5 and well fixed in there apparently! That is, he's 3/5 in and 2/5 out. I have aching around my pelvis and am walking a bit like John Wayne but otherwise not too bad. Am now booked in for a sweep at 40+6 just in case. Hopefully won't come to that. 9 days to d- day!

bebejones · 16/08/2011 15:11

SPR - You poor thing :( Utterly miserable isn't it?! I agree on the boxsets front, it's something that doesn't require much energy or concentration. Hope you start to feel better soon.

Quod - fingers crossed that it's light & not a train! (Had my fair share of trains here!!)

100 - Yay for cot, makes it all seem real!

100/WYL - hated that melon between your legs feeling! It really feels like everything is going to fall out! On the plus side...not long now!

Well, I have been to the consultant. I waited 75mins past my appointment time! (Think I shall send him a bill for the car park ticket!!) Was barely in there 10minutes & in that time all he did is agree with me and told me nothing I didn't already know! So apparently I really need to think about having another baby sooner rather than later as they cannot guarantee (obviously Hmm) that this plateau in my MS will last & the longer I stay off my meds the more damage (potentially) I am doing to my body (if I relapse, although being on meds is no guarantee that I won't relapse Hmm) He (consulatant) has 4 kids & saw fit to tell me that me having one more won't cost that much on top of DD! (Preaching to the converted!!) I just feel so frustrated & fed up! Of course DH wasn't with me, I can't bring it up with him without fear of a horrendous argument again. I'm getting so sick of his work dictating my life. (Appreciate that that sounds very selfish, but can't help it) :(

strawberrypie · 16/08/2011 19:21

Good to hear the consultant backed up your reasoning though bebe! I think you should tell your OH what he said. Say it as if you are completely impartial merely passing on the consultants thoughts re: a second child and leave it at that. If he starts to disagree with what he said just inform him that it was a shame he was not there at the appointment to join in the discussion and stalk off to enjoy the moral high ground.

All easy for me to say/type I know! I hope things pick up soon though x

Thanks for the advice involving cold thing on the bump (possibly frozen peas?)- I will try that tonight....

It really is the final countdown for both WYL and 100 isn't it! The melon between the legs feeling sounds strange but I suppose it means things are going the right way.....exiting!

Sorry to hear you are still feeling rubbish SPR-how many weeks are you now? Hopefully you might start to feel better soon (I know that does not help at the moment) I felt tonnes better in the second trimester so fingers crossed x

Quod- great news about your OH's project going well and being on time! Yay!

Have a drink Minipie- I am starting to really fancy a glass of wine now after 7 and a bit months! (or a pimms, or a mojito or an irish coffee.....) Good luck for the next round- if I were you I might have a break from charting so you aren't thinking about it every day but then again it is reassuring to see your cycle working as it should so I don't know....

Well done for braving the sales with a little baby squirrel! Good thinking though stocking up for when she is older. I am interested in the sling, they sound like a good idea.

squirrel007 · 16/08/2011 23:30

bebe I'm not sure why you think you're being selfish? There's nothing selfish about wanting another child - if anything your DH is being selfish for not talking it through properly with you.

100years seems all the signs are good! You sound super excited now :)

spr sorry you're feeling rubbish :( and the early stages are the worst because the baby seems such a long way off. But it really is worth it :) get some box sets in and some good books, and the worst will pass soon. Have you decided on a travel system yet?

quod I have no idea how to entertain a 6 week old! Mostly she just likes looking around at completely random things. Light and dark and graphic patterns seem to catch her eye. Oh, and feeding! Enjoy the birthday trip!

wyorkslass can't believe it's only 9 days to go - where has the time gone?!

strawberry I have also heard that scrubbing floors is good! And I definitely recommend a sling :) mine is a moby wrap, very convenient for short trips and around the house. Plus it seems to calm DD really quickly when she's upset.

After a week or so of extreme fussiness, DD has switched and been really calm today. I hope this lasts! Had a nice day out for lunch with friends, but have no plans for the rest of the week yet.

Quodlibet · 17/08/2011 18:28

Grin at all this melon-between-the-legs talk! WYL and 100 you could both be any time from now, no?

100 hurrah that the cot is here!

Bebe how annoying to have them waste your time, I hate it when hospitals do that! Your concern about his work doesn't sound selfish at all. I can see why you're trying to avoid a horrendous argument but I reckon tackling it while the iron is hot (after your consultant's visit) might be the way to do - short term (arguing) pain for long term gain and all that? I agree with strawberry re passing on the information from your consultant and taking the moral high ground! Your health should be higher up his list of priorities!

I have had yet another work vs holidays discussion with my DP today, trying to book flights for a v good friend's wedding abroad next year (made more urgent by the flight prices going up hugely seemingly by the hour) and he started making the noises about finding it hard to commit to dates in case work stuff yadda yadda. I had to point out that we're going for a wedding! It's like he can't cope with the idea that there might be a period of time where he isn't 'on call' in case an opportunity comes up, and this invariably leads to the 'work vs life' conflict, agghhh. Fortunately today I was victorious as I caught him at work and he was too tied up in something else to have a proper 'discussion' about it, so he relented and I booked the flights. Ha! Horrible me, making him go on holiday for 9 whole days. Shock.
Then I had to have a think about it, and realised that in order to be not-too-pg to fly for this holiday (end of May) I'd only have to hold off the TTC til October - which is actually only 2 more months! I think (touch wood, etc) there is actually a reasonable likelihood that DP will agree to TTC before the end of 2011. It finally feels like the end of the waiting game may be in sight.

100years · 18/08/2011 13:48

Brill Wyorks re LO being properly engaged and all. Do you feel weird in that area? I feel stuff quite deep inside me feeling odd and when LO moves her head I can very much feel it and it's oddness indeed.

bebe, yeah it does all seem real, although I can't still explain how I can't believe there is a baby inside my stomach when it moves and stuff, it's very surreal. I'm glad your consultant went well, shame your OH wasn't there, but he may not have said that if he was there about the money side of things.

Strawberry, there is plenty of time for you to turn, fingers crossed LO will sort themselves out without having to have the ECV thing.

I am really excited squirrel :) Glad littlley has calmed down, little mad growth spurt there then.

Yay Quod, well done on managing to grab an opportunity to get holiday sorted, I really hope you do start soon. And yes it could be any time now in fact ?.

I've taken to sitting on a bin bag on the settee in the front room just in case? Last night had major cramps/pains/tightenings/backache and was at one point thinking I would have to get OH to put the Tens machine on me at some point. Anyway, I had got up and thought I ought to sit on a bin bag in case my waters went! Got up, had a hot water bottle on my back to ease that, and the stomach ache died off again, until I went and laid back in bed (2hours later) and then proceeded to have another one! Yawns madly. All quiet in there now BH back to non painful ones! And back to expecting it to be another few weeks wait yet! But there was a massive 'ooh is it starting?' thought going through my head last night.

Remember my littlest niece being poorly in hosp with chest infection/pneumonia and being quite ill, well she's got another chest infection. I really hope they have caught it early enough this time and there is no hosp for her.

OP posts:
bebejones · 18/08/2011 14:38

100 - sending positive vibes for your DN. Hope she gets better soon.
Sounds like you might have LO sooner rather than later. I didn't get any BH! Hmm (Think that puts me in the minority though!)

Quod - that sounds v positive! Well done you on being sneaky & booking the flights! :o FX for TTC October! :)

Squirrel - glad DD has calmed down a bit. Makes it easier to enjoy it & take it all in when they aren't fussing 24/7! :)

Still haven't said anything to DH, he is SO manic at work. We are barely speaking in the evenings coz he spends all his time working! :( He went to our (empty) flat this week, and plans are afoot to sort out the kitchen and get tenants in! Lord knows that would help us a bit financially! Paying 2 mortgages on ONE 'wage' (Hmm when DH can actually pay himself a wage) is hard work & v stressful! Hoping that we'll get to chat about that a bit more over the weekend and that it might lead on to another 'chat'. Thinking of suggesting that we might TTC when we have new tenants & dropping in what the consultant said then! Confused

100years · 18/08/2011 15:32

Thanks bebe. I'm kind of fine with the waiting, but also would really love to meet her now..... I hope you manage to get some tenants in the other flat, that obviously would help you out. Fingers crossed. xx
