Bebe you are in my position! Grin

AmandaCooper · 26/07/2011 08:11

I do confess to wondering how I could fool the Persona monitor!

ShaggingProducesResults · 26/07/2011 08:35

Easy, use water so it never registers any hormones..... Not that I ever thought about it!!!!

bebejones · 26/07/2011 09:20

lol at tricking the technology! :o

Not entirely in your position....DH is still wary of coming within 3 feet of me!! :( It's almost as if he can sense the pin holes in the condoms!!! Hmm Wink :o

Quodlibet · 26/07/2011 09:38

Well if you really want it....

Here you are you nosy lot

I seem to confuse FF with my EW after OV. I normally get a clear temp rise, but often only dotted lines because it can't tell exactly when I OV, which means it gives me a variable LP of 11-14 days which is a bit silly really. Looking at a few months, my LP seems to be more consistent overall when it puts OV at the beginning of my temp rise, rather than half-way through (which leaves me with an uncharacteristically short LP that month), hence why I'm suspicious I OVed on day 18 not 19, that plus mittelschmertz and changes in CM which are too detailed for FF (or you!) to want to know about them! Confused

minipie · 26/07/2011 13:09

Good lord is that what charts look like? Confused I'm afraid I have no idea what that shows Quod but hope you get the result you want, whatever that is... !

I am just using OPKs - I don't think I'd ever manage the whole temp taking thing, especially in the morning, I am barely alive in the mornings.

Anyway the OPKs gave a fairly strong line on Sun (CD18) and then a properly strong line yesterday (CD19) so I guess I'm ovulating about now! Plenty of SWI to see me into the 2ww...

AmandaCooper · 26/07/2011 13:16

Minipie rather than recording your temps on FF you could just record other signs like the OPK results and then we could still stalk you!

minipie · 26/07/2011 13:23

Grin well I tell you guys everything here anyway! Don't really have any signs other than the OPKs... don't really seem to have any EWCM Sad or mittelschmerz as far as I've noticed. (Bit of cramping yesterday but it seemed more, er, gut related than ovary related).

bebejones · 26/07/2011 18:17

Charts mean nothing to me either! I started charting ages ago...but just couldn't do it succesfully when I was having to get up at random times with DD!

My OPKs are gathering dust tucked away in my drawers. Wonder if I'll get to use them before the expiry date?! Hmm

News here is DH has got an actual appointment with his therapist next week! WooHOO!!!

AmandaCooper · 26/07/2011 19:13

Woohoo indeed, hope they crack him straight away so you can instantly start SWI!

Minipie what on earth is mittelschmerz??

strawberrypie · 26/07/2011 19:14

AC- I felt great during the 2nd trimester- could you suggest timing TTC so that you are around 13-25 weeks PG when you do the big trip? Unless you were planning on doing extreme sports you would be fine. The not drinking thing is something you become accustomed to really quickly and should not stop you enjoying yourself I don't think.......would that be a reasonable compromise?? Wink

Bebe, I'm pleased for your DH's colleague but disappointed on your behalf. Could you fill in for her PT when DD is at nursery to help out? Or get a PT job somewhere to help out with money until you finish for Mat leave? (thinking positively!) It's such a rubbish situation but you seem to be dealing with it amazingly well.

Hope you are feeling ok 100years x

strawberrypie · 26/07/2011 19:16

x-posted AC- like the idea of bebe's oh being cracked! I am imagining them shining a desk lamp into his eyes and shouting instructions to impregnate!

minipie · 26/07/2011 19:32

AC mittelschmerz is german for ovulation cramps - apparently some women get a stabbing pain in one side or the other when they ovulate. don't think I do, though maybe I do and just mistook it for wind...

I second strawberry's idea about doing the Trip in the second trimester! Though I guess it depends on your plans, serious hiking is probably not the best idea but plenty of other stuff would be fine!

Hope the therapist appointment goes well bebe. And congrats to your DH's right hand woman - shame about the crappy timing but there will always be some reason not to TTC if DH is looking for one so I agree with the others that it's not a reason to hold back...

squirrel007 · 26/07/2011 19:46

Hi everyone :) I've just managed to catch up with this thread, but now can't remember everyone's news!!

bebe yay for the therapy session, hope it helps. And sorry about the situation with the PA, but really your DH shouldn't be taking anyone else into consideration.

100years how exciting that you're on leave now, and i hope you're feeling well now.

quod [shocked] about being held at gunpoint

Amanda I completely understand you wanting to fit in two kids before late 30s, and I think that's more important than an amazing holiday. Just need to persuade your DH of that though! It was a big part of my deciding to have kids now. I'm only just 30, but if I'd have waited I'd have wanted to change jobs, and that would have delayed the kids by about 3 years.

Hi to everyone else I've missed :)

Life has been quite hectic here... DD has good days and fussy days, more of the latter recently! Although, I think she might be recovering a bit from a cold and have a bunged up nose, which is no fun at the best of times, let alone when you are too small to do anything about it. Today she is being lovely and sleepy though, so I have a chance to get on here and catch up.

We're getting through cotton wool at incredible speed, so I've just ordered a set of reusable wipes. Am disappointed that we're still using disposable nappies though, but DD is too small for the smallest reusables at the moment (we tried one on her and she was more nappy than baby) :( I need to feed her more so she grows!!

bebejones · 26/07/2011 20:08

Loving the idea that they will be shining lights in his eyes and brainwashing hime!! :o

Squirrel - Glad DD is doing well, it's horrid when they are tiny & have a cold, there is nothing you can do especially when they are too little for the magic of Calpol! :(

AC - I 3rd the idea of doing TBT in the 2nd trimester. Could be the answer?!

DHs PA is due April she thinks...if only I could convince DH to TTC next cycle, I'd adore a May baby! Would be so perfect timing/family wise! He has been talking this evening about getting in a temp while she is away on Mat leave, I really hope he does!

100years · 26/07/2011 22:04

AC yeah I get your point about knowing if it's going to happen and whether DC2 will be an option, hadn't thought of that.

RE the twins comment that SPR made, I keep joking with OH about the fact that the second one will be twins, OH said 'if I knew it would definitely be twins we wouldn't try for a second one' or something very similar, I think I better stop joking about it, much as I don't know what will happen when LO is here, or if we will want another one, I don't want to freak OH out to the point of him saying we will only have one. Obviously you would never know if the second one is twins or not till it happens, but me joking about it, is maybe a bit too much.

SPR I was very sick, with only one baby inside me!

Bebe, I am still at the resting stage of mat leave, not yet bored, not yet feeling like I want to take on the world and nest! However?. more later! Glad your DH has an appointment, hope it helps.

Quod I'm not even going to look at the chart as I managed 3/4 of a month of charting before giving up!

Thanks Strawberry, had a good day yesterday and a shit day today :( Meh.

Thanks Squirrel. as I said to Strawberry! Nice to see you in here :) We have some reusable wipes ready, but a load of cotton wool too. Sorry she had a cold.

The end of the however..... was I woke at stupid o'clock this morning, with a banging headache, to the point where I was lying in bed thinking if I have to go to hosp again I've nothing ready! I then after lying there for best part of an hour got up and made my list for my bags, one for if I need to go in if anything happens before Labour, one for Labour, one for afterwards/baby stuff. This then led to a shopping list and a little trip out to a couple of shops. Spent about £70 on general things! Ah well, have a lovely new thin dressing gown. :)

Keep getting the weird light headed feeling, I may speak to my MW tomorrow and ask her if she thinks I ought to get checked over again. I'm wondering if I'm missing something food wise, or if my BP is just skewiff. Might just not be reacting well to the heat, I've never been a huge fan of the hot weather.

Yesterday I was lying on the sofa and realised my boob had leaked! I had a little wet patch on my t-shirt Shock then this morning I turned over in bed, was at a bit of a squashed angle in bed with my boobs and wondered what had touched my arm, turns out it was milk from my boob! LOL Had squashed it a bit and was leaking, much hilarity!

AmandaCooper · 27/07/2011 08:06

Aw poor little baby Squirrel I hope she's feeling better now.

Oh btw for those who know her I saw Pipoca on an Active Discussions thread, her LO is 8 wks now.

TBT is going to be expensive so we'd have to delay ttc anyway if we had to pay for travelling and also put some money aside so i could take some maternity leave.

We had some awful news yesterday from DH's friend in Australia. His wife has just been told she has four brain tumours. Only a few weeks ago she was feeling absolutely fine and was holidaying with her DH and their two little boys; today she's in surgery.

It makes me think TBT is not such a bad idea after all.

AmandaCooper · 27/07/2011 08:13

100years we xposted. So you're all ready now in terms of your Labour survival kit? That is one thing off your mind, I guess LO could put in an appearance quite soon if it's feeling keen!

If only there was charting for impending birth!

I don't think I fancy twins it would be a lot of hard work and only one go at all the development stages. I'd be tempted to send DH off to have the lights shone in his eyes so I could have a DC3!

bebejones · 27/07/2011 10:09

Morning all! Lovely news about Pip AC! :)

100 - Hope you are feeling a bit better? Keep us posted!

Having a manic day today, started on the baking part of my friends wedding cake! Very nerve wracking! Cake 1 of 4 is now in the oven!! Please all cross your fingers for me that it actually works!! Still waiting for the gas man to come fix the boiler so have no hot running water, nightmare!

Nannyl, where are you?

Quodlibet · 27/07/2011 11:00

Wow Bebe, good luck, although I don't think you need it, the cake will be amazing, will you show us some pics? Must be a nightmare trying to do it with no hot water though! Forgot to say, it's great that your DH has made an appointment for reprogramming therapy.

100 Grin at the leaky boob! The headaches/lightheadedness sound like a pain, but glad to hear you've got it all packed and ready to go more or less.

AC that's really awful about your friend's wife. Makes you realise how precarious it all is and how all your carefully planned priorities can be so quickly overturned by things outside your control, doesn't it?

Trying not to overthink the accidental 2WW over here. Have had to give myself a stern talking-to already today about how I won't know anything til at least this time next week, so there's no point thinking about it (and wasting time when I should be working) now!

100years · 27/07/2011 12:47

AC, sorry to hear about your DH friend's wife. Hope everything goes Ok for her. Not quite ready in terms of Labour survival kit, I've got to get it all together now! I'm kind of hoping for a keen entrance by LO, but not for another 2 weeks and 1 day, when I'll be 37 weeks. Yeah BirthFriend thing like FF!

Hiya bebe, not as bad as yesterday, but not 100%, just hating the weird light headed feeling, rang mw this morning, but went to answer phone, left a message but not heard back yet, to be fair to her though I did say I wasn't feeling awful and just wondered if I needed BP checking again.

Quod, not quite all packed, but I know what I need. :) I have loads of crap out in the front room at the moment that I'm trying to organise into piles of where they are needed. Hope you manage to put it out of your mind enough this next week and get on with your work OK Wink

Not much to tell other than what I've written up there ^, just chilling out today.

OP posts:
100years · 27/07/2011 14:25

Midwife just rang, she has a slot at the docs at 3pm so I'm going up there then to get checked :) I'll prob come away feeling daft for asking for a check, but will be glad to go and get BP done. I'll see if she can find out about the blood test results, I'm wondering if my iron is low. I'm prob just making a fuss over nothing, but I'd rather than and know I'm OK as opposed to sitting here wondering if the light headed feeling is anything to worry about.

OP posts:
squirrel007 · 27/07/2011 16:19

100years the leaking doesn't get any better!! I woke up in a puddle of milk this morning Blush As for BP, if you're worried about it go to your docs and ask to have it checked - a nurse should be able to do it quickly. I had to do that at the end when mine was raised.

bebe good luck with the cake!

quod I think it'd be hard not to obsess a little over the accidental 2ww!

Amanda that's horrible news about your friend's wife :( Things like that always make you reassess your priorities.

100years · 27/07/2011 16:51

I know I'm going to have puddles of milk. I have too much prolactin in me anyway and have been able to get milk from my boobs for a number of years, not obviously to the extent of feeding a baby, but to produce milk when you've never ever been pregnant is kind of weird.

MW was good, BP was back to normal - or rather same as it was on friday which was practically normal so I'm counting that as good. No protein. I do however have keytones, which is either dehydration and we have discounted that given what I'm drinking, and I'm not drinking too much either. So it appears I'm possibly not eating enough, this causing a dip in blood sugar which can throw up keytones and I've also lost 2 or 3 lb in the past few weeks. She asked what I had eaten and I said and she definitely thinks it's due to not eating enough. Meh, bad mummy alert then! Need to up my snacks - and I don't think that means loads of cake and crap! But if I'm not feeling better in a day or two see the GP as it's probably not preg related. She said to see GP friday if tomorrow was no better, I'll see how I get on, I might leave it till monday knowing that one day of eating a bit more may not help, but if I am rubbish rubbish tomorrow then I'll def see GP friday.

OP posts:
squirrel007 · 27/07/2011 17:12

I didn't know it was possible to produce milk without being pregnant!

I had limited weight gain and ketones regularly due to restricted diabetes diet, but no-one seemed worried about it. Low GI snacks are good, especially if high calorie density - oat crackers and nut butter were great for me (or cheese, but I think I remember you don't eat cheese?), hummus and veg, eggs, apples, wholemeal toast etc. I don't think I ate enough in 3rd trimester, but DD appears very healthy anyway :) Hope you feel better soon!
