Exactly what I was going to say!

I wonder if I could hold DH at gunpoint...

WYorksLass · 21/07/2011 19:30

Blimey Quod!

Not sure where the time has gone. Kind of wish it would move faster though, i want the birth part over with!

Just heard nct baby number 2 was born today, also 3 weeks early. If this continues i might only have 2 weeks left!

ShaggingProducesResults · 22/07/2011 09:22

Bloody Hell Quod!! That must have been terrifying for you.

TFI Friday....... I can't wait for the end of the day so I can go home and crawl into bed for the weekend. Feel a bit sorry for DH as he has a long list fo DIY and garden stuff for us to do but if I feel like this then I am going to be sleeping and not a lot more!!!

What are everybody's weekend plans looking like?

Quodlibet · 22/07/2011 10:26

The thing is, the gun thing wasn't terrifying at all at the time, it was really weird how calm we were (I was with a friend, we were on a bus in another country which got hijacked, de-routed and robbed by 3 men with guns, very common occurrence there). We felt the impact afterwards and were really shaken up for a few weeks and kept jumping out of our skins at loud noises! But while it was happening it was just like we went into a calm zone until it was over. Very bizarre.

AC, maybe you could engineer a near-death experience for your DH which would cause him to radically reevaluate his priorities? Wink

This weekend: working tomorrow, then probably gym and lounging on Sunday.
SPR, I was thinking, can you go swimming if being in water stops your nausea? Or are you too tired?

ShaggingProducesResults · 22/07/2011 10:52

I guess I could try swimming Quod.... the bath reduces the nausea but I'm not sure what impact swimming would have on it and I'm not sure if I'm ready to risk throwing up in the pool!!!

100years · 22/07/2011 11:21

Hi Ladies,

Well midwife has just been, bp is lower, though not quite at normal level yet, but no protein and although I still have a headache I get them anyway and it's not got any worse. Back to my normal appointments now, no need to be checked over again unless I feel unwell/worse :)

Have been signed off work till next friday - which happens to be my last day :) So no more work for me now until next year, that's a thought I can't quite get my head around! I would be more excited if I wasn't knackered and feeling bit wonky still!

Going back to the comments about it being terrifying, I've not felt that at all, it's all been quite exciting and lovely to think we will be a family soon :)

Wyorks you are exactly a week ahead of me! :) I know soon I will start to reach the same wanting the birth bit over with, but still happy to feel all the wriggling in me. OH last night had a long feel and reckons LO wants to come out soon as she is so wriggly and movey in there. One day he thinks I'll be late now he thinks I'll be early!

SPR, have a good rest this weekend, I remember that first bit well and how tired I felt. Your body is doing a lot of work at the moment (well throughout pg but defo now) and needs to be looked after as well. My plans for the weekend - rest and not much else. I'd love to go swimming, but a trip to pick up my sick note from the docs yest - 1 mile in the car and back wiped me out, so I think swimming is off the cards for a while!

Quod, it's often like that, at the time something big happens - gun point, accident stuff like that you are calm, afterwards is when it hits!

ShaggingProducesResults · 22/07/2011 11:42

Wonderful news that you have finished work 100 how exciting! Also great to hear the the MW is happy with you and that there is nothing that is causing her concern.

Yippeeeeee!!!

100years · 22/07/2011 12:00

Thanks SPR :) I'm off to inspect the insides of my eyelids just now. Be back later probably! :)

bebejones · 23/07/2011 09:32

100 - So glad that everything is OK, & yay for being on leave!! :)

Quod - sounds terrifying! :(

SPR - How are you feeling today?

Had a bit of a curve ball last night. DHs (sort of) PA is PG! She had been told that the likelihood of her ever having children was less than 20%. She's 22 :( Her boyfriend dumped her last week (out of the blue) and they hadn't had UPS, and she found out yesterday that she was updiffed! All a bit of a mess really. :( Whilst I am very concerned for her (we are all friends, and it is her younger sister whose updiffage really upset me recently) I am very aware that if she does decide to keep the baby (she is in a bit of a state about the whole thing) this will greatly impact on our likelihood to TTC. DH will really struggle without her at work, and wouldn't be able to take any time off without her there. I genuinely want her to make the right decision for her and want her to be happy, she is just such a kind & lovely person. But I just know that this could have major implications for our family :(

100years · 23/07/2011 19:45

Oh bebe, :( That's a bit :( for you. Hope she makes the right decision for her. When you say DH wouldn't be able to take any time off work, are you talking about the immediate time after the birth? Or am I missing that he would need to take other time off?

OP posts:
bebejones · 23/07/2011 21:08

Well if I had a baby while she was on ML then he wouldn't be able to take time off, or at least hardly any. Is gonna make things very tricky when they are already not brilliant! We think she is going to keep the baby, and tbh I am delighted for her, she deserves to have children, she will be the best mum (even though she is very young) and she never thought it was going to be possible. Just a shame her ex is being a complete twat about the whole thing!! Angry MEN!! Blaming her for 'ruining his life' Hmm wtf?!?! It's not like she planned to (or even thought she could) get pregnant! Oh well, I'll be waiting some more I guess! It is what it is, and I am delighted for her that she will get this oppurtunity that she never thought possible!

AmandaCooper · 25/07/2011 08:35

Bebe that is so unfair! It shouldn't in fairness make a blind but of difference to your TTC plans, because if you were already pg you would just have to roll with it and if it wasn't this curve ball it would be another, but I know there's no "in fairness" argument to be had with your DH any more than with mine.

When is your MN anniversary? We should celebrate with a bottle of scotch each.

bebejones · 25/07/2011 10:50

My 'waiting' anniversary is at end of August I think!

I know it shouldn't make any difference, but coz DH is self employed & it's a small company they can't really afford to have more than one or 2 people out of the office at any one time! When DD was born DH was employed at the company (he's only been self-employed in the last 18months) and he still didn't take any proper time off! Now he is self-employed he just doesn't take any time off at all, if he isn't in work he doesn't earn money! But I know he will use this latest 'development' to fuel his argument! Angry

How are you doing? Any developments on your DH front?

AmandaCooper · 25/07/2011 13:18

None whatsoever. I'm going to book the Big Trip to satisfy DH's alleged wanderlust. The timetable for DC2 (poor DC2 has almost no chance) is getting tighter. Even if we do the Big Trip over Christmas and then fall pg straight away, it'll still be a late 2012 birth, by which time I'll be 35. DH wants to do the Big Trip next May!

Then I have to persuade DH all over again and even on the best case scenario we won't be TTC DC2 until after my 36th birthday. What a nightmare.

AmandaCooper · 25/07/2011 13:21

I don't want to have to go through it all in my late 30s, it's so much strain to put on your body not just two pregnancies but also all the sleepless nights and running round after toddlers.

bebejones · 25/07/2011 13:46

It's not ideal, but it is possible. My Godmother had her DD when she was 42 & my SIL had her DS when she was 38. Don't despair, have crossed everything that it'll happen for you, and quickly!

Sleepless nights are a bugger whatever age you are...unless you are 18 I guess! Hmm I could go days with only a couple of hours sleep back then...now I need a full 8 hours to feel half decent the following day!! If you are fit & healthy & look after yourself hopefully it won't be such a strain for your body! Hmm Is there anyway of persauding your DH to do 'TBT' (the big trip Wink) before May? I hear Peru is very lovely around Christmas time!! :o Wink

bebejones · 25/07/2011 13:49

Ha!! Point proven www.andeantravelweb.com/peru/tips/weather.html or have you decided to to the US trip? :)

Quodlibet · 25/07/2011 14:24

AC, sorry to hear that your DH has regressed. I totally share your concerns about bodily timetables etc. I have made my DP read 'Baby Hunger' which goes on and on about how so many women have their fertility compromised by men/work situations and end up TTC way past their peak (we could go round all this all day, couldn't we, but I feel really strongly about it).

Over here I am trying not to obsess about the fact the FF keeps changing my OV date from 3 days after the UPS to 4 days Confused and that either way we've definitely been playing with fire. Very hard to concentrate on the very complicated reading I am meant to be doing with that clanging on in the background of my subconscious all the time. It is a major flaw of the human mind I think that there's not an 'off' button for things you worry/obsess about but which you can do nothing at all about! Anyone got any strategies?

Bebe that sucks about your DH's work situation, it's so annoying that it always seems to be some other outside force controlling our TTC windows rather than our own choices, doesn't it? Neither DP or I would get any maternity leave/pay apart from SMP, both being self-employed - it's a right bitch, isn't it?! And seems so unfair!

100years · 25/07/2011 17:04

bebe, I agree with AC that it shouldn't make a difference to your TTC, I also think it's just another little obstacle your DH will add to it, sorry to say that. If he wanted to, then that wouldn't make a difference.

AC I'm 34 :) I'm not too worried about my age (at the moment) so if we have 2 the second one will be coming along when I'm 36 probably, unless we leave a longer gap.

Quod, hope this month works out right for you, I suppose you are in a 2ww without even trying to be.

OP posts:
AmandaCooper · 25/07/2011 20:38

Quod what are you on now? CD22 and either 3 or 4 DPO? Can we see your chart?

AmandaCooper · 25/07/2011 20:47

100years I would be less worried if I knew DC1 was definitely happening next year and didn't anticipate another battle for DC2.

ShaggingProducesResults · 25/07/2011 22:39

AC - Sorry that things are so crap for you tight now. I'm amazed at how calm you're being. 34 isn't ancient and they do say that your chances of twins increases with age so maybe you'll get 2DCs at 34!! Wink

Bebe - so sorry to hear about DHs PA. It's shit when external factors impact your plans to TTC and you're so considerate of others when it'd be easy to blame her. I really admire you.

Quod - I second ACs call for a FF linky......... Please :)

AmandaCooper · 25/07/2011 22:56

Hmm or maybe I'll get 2DCs at 38 already having an 18 month old DC1!

ShaggingProducesResults · 25/07/2011 23:06

Or that!! Wink
The sister gave me some info today saying that extreme nausea could be down to multiples........

bebejones · 26/07/2011 08:05

SPR - About the extreme nausea, happened to my friend!! Although I was v sick & only one...Hmm I can't blame DHs PA (that's not her official title but it's the easiest way to describe what she does!!) it's amazing for her & I'm so pleased (if more than a little Envy) it really goes to show that nothing is impossible. She has severe endometriosis & PCOS, she was on the pill & didn't have UPS so it really is a miracle baby!! :) Thankfully for her her ex is now being less of a twat & has 'come around to the idea'! Hmm

AC - Cassava & sweet potato are supposed to also really help you to conceive twins....maybe you might get #1&2 at the same time if you start scoffing them non stop!! :o I'd be very tempted to have an 'accident' in your position you are a stronger person than me!

100 - How are you enjoying mat leave?! :o

Quod - any developments???
