Quod, yeah I'm really really looking forward to the finish of work :) And I'm finding the hot weather hard work, have done since the heat we had in April, in fact it's all tiring now! Went shopping this morning, got a couple of bodysuits for LO and a cardigan and a protective case thing for my new phone. Tomorrow is a rest day before work Monday. Can't believe how quickly my 5 days off have gone!

AC, sorry about AF :( Maybe he should know how disappointed you are with it. I remember crying at my OH on odd occasions. Not that that helped me get him to change his mind, but at least he was aware of how I felt and I wasn't bottling it all up.

mini, yeah I know not long, going quickly just now.

bebe, sorry you are not getting anywhere. x

Just ordered some grobags and gro-swaddle stuff :) All very cute :) Don't think we actually have that much to get now, know we are going to be getting loads of clothes so not really needing to buy much in that respect at the moment. I'd love to have a go mad session, but until LO is actually here and we know how big she is, I really don't want to buy lots of outfits. I was mega mega long and heavy, OH was mega long but light, the newborn stuff might only fit for a week or two and that would be a waste.

I do however need to start looking at what to pack in my hosp bag! I've not even thought of it! Hey ho, I'll get a shock if I'm still dilly dallying in a few weeks time!

AC - At the moment I'd say my chances of being updiffed in a years time are slim to none! Where are you planning on going on this big trip? I'd love to do some travelling...DH isn't keen & it's not likely with a child! :(

100 - I think I packed & re-packed about 20 times...top tip, get your OH to pack it once you have everything sorted...he'll be the one getting stuff out for you!

My gum has suddenly swollen up and been bleeding alot...happened within about 30mins! It's very odd....and painful...DH doesn't seem to care! :( Why do these things always happen when the dentist is closed?! No idea what it is either...wasn't eating anything, tooth wasn't hurting, there isn't anything stuck there......Hmm Hope it just sorts itself out by the morning!

AmandaCooper · 16/07/2011 21:57

Bebe get some mouthwash from the chemist. Tarodent is good, my dentist recommended it to me.

minipie · 17/07/2011 00:20

bebe Sad re your gum, gum issues are one of those annoying things where you have no outwards symptoms but you feel like crap. My sympathy. Salt water is supposed to be good for infections but will taste horrible...

AC thanks for the offer of the OV sticks, but won't accept as I am still hoping your DH will come to his senses! Maybe if he's still playing silly buggers in a few months time (and I'm not updiffed by then), though I really hope neither is the case... Anyway, tell us about the Big Trip while we untie the Gruffalo?

100 hospital bag oooh. From what I can gather the main things are nice snacks and plenty of entertainment. Oh and lots of big knickers/pads for the way home... and a small jug so you can pour water over when you pee (helps if you are sore). I really must stop reading those childbirth threads!

quod know how you feel (again) re DH work deadlines - mine has just had to work through 2 weekends away... gah. Toys keep being thrown out of prams but nothing seems to change... god knows what it would be like if we had an actual child to look after and he was constantly at work's beck and call...

Wyorks so are you having a homebirth then? I'm quite interested in that, please do report back on what the "experienced" homebirthers say.

AmandaCooper · 17/07/2011 00:53

Minipie I don't think there is any "if" about it!

bebejones · 17/07/2011 08:42

I have some chemist mouthwash from a few months ago when I had persistant sore throat....might try that! It's slightly better this morning but still not normal. I think I must have cut it or something without realising Confused Hmm

Hugs for AC again. Tell us about 'the trip' to distract yourself and make us jealous!! :o

100 - can't remember your due date, but if it's likely to be hot...cooling spray is really good...labour wards & postnatal wards are boiling!! An ipod or something is good too...covers up the screams of other people which is 'off putting'! Wink Somewhere there is a hospital bag thread on MN (probably more than one) try & find it, they are so helpful! :)

AmandaCooper · 17/07/2011 09:43

I'm having to research and book the whole thing because DH is not really that interested in the damn trip. You'd have thought it would be easier to work out routes and hotels and flights than it is, the West Coast USA must be the world's most popular road trip. Spent all last night online without reaching any conclusions.

AmandaCooper · 17/07/2011 10:04

Sorry I sound really ungrateful about having the opportunity to see the world, don't I! I'm sure it will be a fun trip and I'll be looking forward to it once it's booked.

AmandaCooper · 17/07/2011 10:06

100years careful on those threads, I made a list from them and it was more stuff than I'd pack for a two week camping trip!

bebejones · 17/07/2011 10:07

West coast...so California and oregon, Hawaii maybe? Seattle? Is Washington west coast? Sounds fab, I'm very Envy

bebejones · 17/07/2011 10:10

Think it's Washington state actually, thinking about it and dc isn't in the state is it?! Pooh Nevada, u have to go to Vegas! Grin

bebejones · 17/07/2011 10:11

Ooooh not pooh... Stupid iPhone!

AmandaCooper · 17/07/2011 10:50

Yes we thought we'd go to Vegas for new year. This is all assuming I can book Christmas off. After work made me cancel the April trip its the least they can do.

bebejones · 17/07/2011 10:53

Envy I really want to do a US trip. DH & I would love to go to Hawaii. We never got a honeymoon, so maybe we will go there together one day! Hmm

squirrel007 · 17/07/2011 12:37

Hi everyone! How are you all? Enjoying the weekend?

Amanda sorry that AF turned up :( I've done some travelling in the US, including Vegas and the Californian coast, if you have any questions?

quod she is definitely sleeping better now :) I think the infacol drops we are using are really helping. She still wakes every 2-3 hours for feeding in the night, but mostly sleeps in the gaps with very little fussing. And yes, we're getting used to having her around! The only thing now is working out what to do with our weekends! We need to get out of the house a bit, but yesterday the weather was awful so the three of us were stuck indoors. Good luck with the new show :)

100years my top hospital bag things were straws (difficult to drink if you're lying down), plastic flip-flops and lansinoh (if you plan to breastfeed). You sound very organised! I bought loads of clothes and bits before DD was born, but then she turned out to be tiny and they're all too big! Better than being all too small though :)

bebe how is your gum? Sounds painful!

Things are good here, DD is very peaceful (I think we must be very lucky, or that she'll turn into a monster soon!).

bebejones · 17/07/2011 15:38

Squirrel - How lovely that you are starting to settle into family life. Charlotte sounds much like my DD who was actually a very easy going baby after the first couple of weeks. Woke very little at night except to feed & just generally very contented and happy. Hope she continues to be as happy & peaceful for you! :)

Gum is better although a little tender. No obvious signs of infection or cuts...but something must have irritated it! Hmm

100 - Also in my bag I had apricots/prunes etc...which I stuffed in my mouth at every given oppurtunity to...erm...'help'!! Wink

AmandaCooper · 17/07/2011 20:28

DH has discovered that the best time to go weather-wise is May. He says this is not some fucking token thing to be got out of the way just so I can have a baby (this said as though a baby is something disgusting).

AmandaCooper · 17/07/2011 20:33

We've had all this time to do this bloody trip. I'll be 34 and a half by the time we go. I wanted to have my children before I was 35. I'll be lucky if we've started trying for DC1 by then. It's never happening, is it? Sad Sad Sad

bebejones · 17/07/2011 21:08

I just had a quick google (bear in mind I don't know your exact plans) and the best time to visit the West Coast is apparently Sept/Oct or March/April. So what exactly is he playing at? Plus didn't you say you wanted to spend Xmas in Vegas?!

Children are not something horrible & disgusting that ruin your life. They change it, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. My DD has opened my mind to things I never thought I could do or achieve. Maybe it's time for you to get properly angry with/at him. He needs to understand that his immature mind games are cruel & selfish. Angry :(

Who has the Gruffalo? He is needed...BIG time!!

AmandaCooper · 18/07/2011 08:40

Apparently May is the best time to visit Yosemite National Park. DH could not believe that I would compromise the success of the Big Trip just to bring forward TTC. "Of course we must go to Yosemite National Park in the optimum season", I replied, "what madness to suggest prioritising the timing of TTC so as to optimise our chances of healthy pregnancies instead of good weather on holiday!"

In fairness to DH, shortly after this conversation he suggested we visit Peru instead, which is thankfully quite clement in December.

bebejones · 18/07/2011 09:07

Peru might be a better option for the big trip, the states could be done easily with kids but Peru might be tricky! Good on you for not letting him get away with it! Wink

WYorksLass · 18/07/2011 11:37

Oh AC, have a big hug.

Had a busy weekend here. Had our final nct class on Sat and did our Stork walk round the hospital on Sun. Think hospital trip made it real and i'm a bit scared now, justwant it over with! Heard this morning that sosmeone in our nct class gave birrth yesterday, 3 weeks early but all is well!

Minipie, i'm not having a homebirth, i want to be where the doctors and drugs are!

minipie · 18/07/2011 12:11

Sorry WYorks got you confused with strawberry! so many pregnant ladies so little time... Smile When is your due date, sounds like it's all getting pretty close!

Our local hospital has a midwife led birthing centre attached to it, so I'm hoping that means I could go there for a less hospitally experience but then transfer easily if doctors/drugs were needed... Am thinking waaay too far ahead given I'm not even pg!

bebe Grin at Oooh not Pooh! Brilliant auto correct.

AC WTF is he playing at? Does he know the stats re age and getting pg/having a healthy baby? It just seems like he doesn't actually want a child at all and is thinking up delaying tactics. I am soooo Angry on your behalf. Agree with bebe it seems to be time to get properly angry. If it were me ultimatums would be flying...

ShaggingProducesResults · 18/07/2011 15:34

wow - I missed a lot over the weekend.

AC I second bebe about Peru. You could easily do the USA with children and if the timings for Peru work better for you then you should go for that option.

I hate to sound negative but it does sort of sound as though he is delaying a lot with no good reasons. Do you know for sure that he wants children at all? Probably not what you want to hear from me. Sorry.

Feeling soooooo sick over here today. I actually wish I was throwing up as at least that might give me some relief form the constant feeling of horrific nausea and the worry that at any moment I could throw up!!! THe joys of pregnancy :)

bebejones · 18/07/2011 19:08

Poor you SPR :( Not nice...although the constant throwing up is horrid too!

Had a bit of a surprise this evening. DH's therapist rang him today out of the blue. He'd paid for some sessions & then never done them. Soooooo he is actually going to go & talk to her sometime soon. Really hope this helps him get his head sorted.

Also today I have had a hospital consultant appt come through. Wasn't expecting one til December. Always feels like a bit of a slap round the face when day to day I don't really think at all about there actually being anything wrong with me IYSWIM? Then I get one of these & it really throws me! :(
