WYorks I love the way they call it a stork walk! Sounds a bit daunting though, particularly when you've only got about six weeks to go. All the pg women in our office (you will recall there are six of them) are at the same point as you, starting their maternity leave and making last preparations. It's exciting but it must be scary too.

Lol @ minipie planning the birth in detail whilst TTC!

SPR sorry the morning sickness has got you and is getting you down. It seems to get everyone to some extent. Hope it's short-lived.

Bebe that's very positive news about your DH, I hope he gets some support and that he finds it helpful. It must give you some hope that things will be sorted out and back on track.

Is your hospital appointment just a normal routine check or will they want to discuss restarting the meds?

Thanks for all the suggestions about DH and the Big Trip. It's no secret that DH doesn't want to have children at all. That's never changed, if it were up to him the topic would just be permanently closed.

AmandaCooper · 19/07/2011 08:53

Minipie I have just been reading back through some of the old ditherers threads. I do miss everyone on there I wonder how everyone is getting on.

ShaggingProducesResults · 19/07/2011 09:20

bebe I can't imagine how horrid the throwing up none stop is and I didn;t mean to trivialise that at all. I was thinking more along the lines that maybe if I was sick occasionally then I might stop feeling like this!!!

Great news that your DH is going to go to see a therapist. My DBIL went and it helped him so much so I really think that it is worth giving it a go. Fingers crossed.

I guess it's good that you don't notice the MS during your day to day life but horrible to be reminded of it by a Drs letter/phonecall. I hope that everything is ok.

AC I guess it's pretty hard to change your DH's mind if he has always been against having children. It's a really tricky one and I don't know what the answer is. I can't really remember back to the old threads now but what was your position on children when the two of you got together?

bebejones · 19/07/2011 09:30

I am hopeful that talking things through with someone neutral will help DH but who knows if it will actually help?! Hmm

Not sure what the hospital appt is for TBH. I'm not supposed to be seeing my neuro consultant til December. But I have been waiting 19months for a follow up appt with 'the drugs man'! I'm hoping they won't want me to go back on meds, although maybe it might jolt DH a bit. Having said that,

bebejones · 19/07/2011 09:34

SPR - Xpost I wasn't saying you were trivialising it, sorry, what I said was confusing. Nausea is dibilitating (sp?) too, that constant 'sea sick' feeling is truly horrid. And yes, you may well get some relief if you were sick...but then again it's a bit of a slippery slope once you start being actually sick! hope it eases soon. Have you tried the travel bands to see if they help ease the nausea?

ShaggingProducesResults · 19/07/2011 09:40

No - I think I may have to pop to Boots today (working form home so shops on my doorsteap - hurrah!!!) and get a pair. It may make it hard to keep people off the scent of the Diffment at work though!!

minipie · 19/07/2011 10:41

bebe that's good of the therapist to contact your DH rather than just pocketing the fees. Hope it helps him out.

And such good news about your 10months, long may it continue.

SPR poor you with the nausea. I think it's ginger tea that's supposed to settle the stomach isn't it?

AC gosh, yes, I remember the ditherers thread - I wasn't on there very long though before the hormones got me and I started wanting DC (despite all the rational arguments against it). Hmmm - if your DH has always said he doesn't want DCs, that does make it tough, doesn't it Sad. Did you know that before you got married? Did you agree at the time? I will have to look back at the old threads, I'm sure this was all discussed back there...

strawberrypie · 19/07/2011 11:52

Hi everyone,

I feel for you SPR- I felt really sick all the time between weeks 6-12 but only actually vomited a couple of times. I remember thinking 'why am I doing this?' but the nausea just disappeared in the 12th week.

Quodlibet · 19/07/2011 11:53

AC agggghhhh for you. Sorry, but whichever way you look at it he is being a nobber imho. If he definitely doesn't want children and never did and never will, why is he doing things like giving up smoking and agreeing to TTC in June?!? From what I remember neither of you wanted to have children when you married, but the situation has now changed and you both need to deal with the current situation in the most respectful and adult way you can. Blowing hot and cold/making promises and then backing out/putting a series of obstacles and deadlines in the way of TTC is not addressing the issue or treating you respectfully, whatever his feelings about it. I would be furious with him in your position.

Ooh Bebe that is good news about the therapist. Still waters run deep eh?

Squirrel great to hear you've got a peaceful baby!

I am going through my broody week - have worked out that I get much more obsessed with the whole TTC thing in the week leading up to OV, which makes sense from a hormonal POV. The rest of the time I can put it to the back of my mind thank god.

Poor you SPR! Seasickness-type nausea sounds horrible, not looking forward to that in any shape or form thanks!

Right, I've got to gird my loins and knuckle down to some proper work rather than being on MN all day.

bebejones · 19/07/2011 13:14

SPR - maybe give the bands a try when you are at home to see if they help before wearing them at work. Or weara lightweight, long sleeved cardi/jacket to cover them up? Was going to recommend Nairns ginger oat biscuits, but you are gluten intolerent aren't you? Not sure they are GF.

Will catch up with you all after lunch...DD is wailing... she's been a bit of a nightmare child the last few days! :(

ShaggingProducesResults · 19/07/2011 13:53

Well I've got a pair and they don't seem to be having any impact yet but I've only been wearing them for 1 hour and was already feeling sick when i put them on so that could explain it!

Hope that DD calms down. Maybe it's all the excitement of her upcoming birthday??

bebejones · 19/07/2011 15:37

I found I had to wear them constantly to feel any impact. Think I kept them on nearly continuously for about 2 months Blush I was at one point worried the circular indentations on my wrists would never disappear!! :o

Think DD is having a growth spurt. Sleeping loads, constantly winging for food (very very unusual for her) and just generally grotty as hell! Gawd knows the little monkey needs to grow a bit! She's 3 in 3 weeks & is just 88cm tall & her feet have only grown 1/2 a size in a year! :) Not that I'm complaining, saves me a fortune, kids shoes are extortionate!!

minipie · 19/07/2011 16:10

strawberry thanks for the update re homebirthing. Yes the flexibility is something that appeals to me, plus having a midwife with you all the time rather than dashing off around the ward. Out of interest, how many of the home-birthers that you've met are doing it (or did it) for their first DC? I'd previously got the impression that it was more popular second time round and onwards, I guess because people are less nervous and know how their body is likely to behave? Has anyone said anything about it being less recommended for first-timers?

ShaggingProducesResults · 20/07/2011 10:57

AC I hope that you are ok over there and that all our quizzing hasn't upset you........

Bands on today but don't seem to be doing much. Did you sleep in them Bebe? I didn't and woke up feeling rough (I'm usually ok until I try and get up!!) so wondering if I should start doing so.

Had a shocker this morning and managed to leave my work laptop on the kitchen table (to busy concentrating on gettin out the door without being sick to actually work out what I needed to take to work) so I am stuck on a very old desktop in the finance department!! It seems that my pregnancy brain has kicked in!!

minipie · 20/07/2011 11:09

Yes, sorry if we were a bit too inquisitive (or inquisitorial...!?) AC, please do ignore any questions you'd rather not discuss.

Went out last night with group of friends quite a few of whom are pg or have babies. Quite a few "you next" comments. Not sure what to say really - they all fell pg within seconds of TTCing so I guess it hasn't really occurred to them that I might be trying but not succeeding. Normally I'm very open (overly so Grin) about everything but for some reason don't really want to talk about TTCing.

Also, for some reason I am convinced that we are going to have a really difficult baby. All my friends with babies seem to have brilliant babies who sleep through the night very quickly, don't have colic or reflux or anything like that, are happy and smiley most of the time... I am sure we are going to get a clingy screamer! Anyone else feel like that?

SPR have you tried ginger? Good excuse to eat ginger biscuits (mmm)...

bebe do you have plans for DD's birthday?

ShaggingProducesResults · 20/07/2011 11:31

Ginger seems to have no impact at all!!
Tried Ginger beer, ginger ale and GF ginger cookies......... Nada!

Going to try chips at lunchtime :)

minipie · 20/07/2011 11:32

Oh I hear chips are good Wink

Quodlibet · 20/07/2011 12:21

Right so it's a day of high drama in our house.
We got carried away on Monday, had lost all track of cycle, and didn't realise until yesterday that we'd had (lots of) ups on CD15. Chances are I'm not fertile as normally I OV between day 18 to 21, and I don't feel 'in the zone', but the risk is there. Obviously I had to break this to DP when I realised yesterday, and offered to get MAP. MAP is now sitting on the table but after lots of going round in circles we're not sure whether I should take it. With 'sensible head on' he thought I should but now 'the romantic side' of him says let's just see what happens. We're going to see how we feel after lunch. I am in a ridiculously broody mood and taking it feels really counter-intuitive to me, but I'm happy to do it if he'd prefer.

AgHHGGGHGHHGGH. Confused

minipie · 20/07/2011 12:27

Hmmm Quod, I know you've said loads of times, but I'm afraid I can't remember why you and DH were waiting...? If it's just Dithering, it sounds like this could be the wake up call that actually you both DO want to have a baby, nowish. So don't take the MAP.

(if there is some very important practical reason you are waiting, then ignore me!)

bebejones · 20/07/2011 12:30

SPR - I did sleep in the bands. But I did still feel awful...just perhaps not quite so awful, ie I could just about make it out of bed to the toilet & back if I had them on!! (Dear God please don't that happen to me 'next time' Hmm) Have you tried Preggie pops? Give them a google. Really helped a friend of mine last year. After about week 14 I lived on Lucozade, Haribo, Still Lemonade, Grapefruit Juice, Microwave chips (for some reason normal chips made me heave) Pizza & Tesco Bakery Cheese Twists! No wonder I packed the weight on as soon as I started muching on that lot!! Blush But despite all that DD turned out to be perfectly healthy, if ever so slightly bonkers! Wink :o

AC - hope you're ok out there?

Minipie - all the comments are really insesitive sometimes aren't they. I get sick of people telling me I 'should' or 'ought' to be thinking about having another one...how do they know there aren't 'issues'?!?! Hmm :( And yes I am convinced that if we ever have #2 they will be a nightmare baby as DD was so easy really & is a fab sleeper! :)

Plans for DDs birthday - a Pirate theme party (coz she is obsessed with pirates!) Hoping & praying for good weather so we can be out in the garden, plan to decorate with bunting and flags & make it look like a ship!! :o

bebejones · 20/07/2011 12:33

xpost Quod - oh dear whata dilemma. Agree with minipie!

Quodlibet · 20/07/2011 12:36

No, we're Dithering with added Career Deadlines. But DP's Great Career Zenith is scheduled for Jan, so we'd be past that now.

Got to say, I felt like a div talking to the doctor.
Dr "Were you using any contraception?"
Me: "Er, no."
Dr: "Would you like to have a coil fitted"
Me: "No."
Dr: "Would you like to make an appointment to discuss your contraception?"
Me: "No thanks".
Dr: "Right."

It's basically just delaying. I don't want long-term contraception because we're agreed we'd like to start a family in the near future, so what's the point in taking the MAP so that it's not this month?

minipie · 20/07/2011 13:02

Sounds to me pretty obvious that you 've already convinced yourself that you shouldn't take the MAP...

(though obviously, if you manage to end up pg before me without even TTCing, I will be slightly peeved Grin)

ShaggingProducesResults · 20/07/2011 13:45

Quod - don't take it (says the newly diffed lady in the corner!!) this is your wake up call :)

Being sensible though - you should do whatever you feel is best for you and DH.

bebe will look up preggy pops and keep these bands on 22/7 (got to take them off for my 2 hour baths (I know, that's a long time but I don't feel sick in the bath so I stay in as long as I can!!!)0

bebejones · 20/07/2011 13:52

SPR - I used to sit in the shower for over an hour coz it was the only place I didn't feel sick, so I will not judge! :o

Quod - This definitely sounds like a wake up call. I wouldn't take it in your situation, even if it's not ideal timing if you did end up PG it wouldn't be the end of the world time wise & these things have a habit of working themselves out & you find ways to adapt. :) Hope you can reach a decision that makes you both happy!
