Where is your computer?

We may have had this before but who cares. Mine is in the 'study' which JulesToo says sounds posh but, sadly, it's far removed from being a book lined retreat with an enormous roll top walnut desk, leather wing chairs and those green glass reading lamps (I wish). It's the spare bedroom as well (so I'm upstairs when I'm on MN, abandoning my neglected kids who are downstairs), and has 2 PCs and the X-Box, plus a big box of tools, books that won't go anywhere else, hundreds of cassettes we will never listen to again and various bits of Lego dotted around. And a singing hamster, don't ask.

Howsabout you?

in the lounge with the tv... that way I can keep an eye on the American Crime dramas whilst MNing

compo · 08/11/2005 19:00

In dh's study. I'm not allowed a study because I am a girl

marthamoo · 08/11/2005 19:01

Well of course not - you don't want to be bothering your pretty little head with book learning. You should be doing some needlepoint or macrame instead.

I'm with Marslady. In the living room so I can MN as well as watch CSI(all of them!!!)

Blossomhill · 08/11/2005 19:03

In our kitchen/diner

marthamoo · 08/11/2005 19:06

If it's in the lounge/kitchen/diner/wherever do you have a desk, or do you have a laptop balanced on your knee?

(Yes, I am actually a burglar and I'm mentally casing the joint).

Have a laptop so it can sit on the dining table in the sitting room and in theory get put away when we eat. I say in theory.

roisin · 08/11/2005 19:08

Ours is in the study too. LOTS of books - three walls almost complete shelving, plus a comfy sofa, big bay window - sounds great? It could be, but it's not. It's dh's den/hole, and it's a dump. It's always really, really messy, and it annoys me intensely.

I have a computer desk shoved in the corner. I am mad as can sit on here for hours in the evening and it's not very comfortable.

milward · 08/11/2005 19:25

In the office at home - surrounded by books, various bits & pieces plus a basket of clothes to allocate (am trying to avoid seeing this!!)

In the corner of the front room. We haven't got a lot of space so DH cannabilised an old computer desk and fitted the sliding keyboard bit to a Billy Bookcase - we treated ourselves to a flat monitor, so don't need a great deal of depth. I have to sit on a hard wooden chair so when I MN too long I end up with a numb bum

serenity · 08/11/2005 19:34

oh, and like many other people I will be MNing and CSIing this evening...

Merlin · 08/11/2005 19:35

laptop (wifi) - so goes with me around the house if I fancy it! Although usually sits in kitchen as that seems to be where I spend most of my time!!!

Ours is in the back room. To my left is the kitchen, to my right the living room. Open plan living for the Munkers!

HuggyBear · 08/11/2005 20:07

Mine is in my bedroom. (there is also a tv next to the computer so i can watch CSI )

LIZS · 08/11/2005 20:10

Corner of lounge . [sigh] we used to have a living area like that Hausfrau

nutcracker · 08/11/2005 20:12

Living room

Gobbledigook · 08/11/2005 20:13

The office.

It doubles as a guest room so has a double bed, pine wardrobe and a big proper office desk (with the curve in and everything - ner ner!). Also an electric heater as this room gets really cold, a big pile of books dh is selling on ebay and a big pile of household filing that I really should see to!

Oh and it's upstairs at the back of the house overlooking the garden and all the huge, gorgeous trees that line the edge of the garden. Beyond is a rugby field so in winter when the leaves have all fallen, i can watch rugger while working!

philippat · 08/11/2005 20:16

currently on sofa in living room (laptop and wifi)

Mum2OneAndBump · 08/11/2005 20:17

We have the pc in the dinning room, but at this moment in time i am sitting in bed on the laptop this mainly gets used upstairs.

fairydust · 08/11/2005 20:22

lounge

spidermama · 08/11/2005 20:22

Mine is also in the 'study' which doubles as a spare room and junk room. It's the room that gets no attention whatsoever.
