Minirosas CI went sooo smooth we almost came out thinking WTF ! We took the number it came up straight away but then we got moved to another sportello. The entire time minirosa ran up and down the disabled ramp! We then went and put her in list for the communale materna she was good again so we went to disney. She looked at toys and put them back ( good girl) pointed out all the characters then she spotted a minnie cotton dress that was it....... Papa mi compri? Perfavore , Please. Piace tanto. Papa bought it and then we had to do a change in the disney store at the cassa so she could wear it..... ALl day yesterday and it is now in the wash!
Summers back !!!!!!

JustForThisOne · 15/06/2011 15:33

hello people
i posted long time ago so I ll introduce myself again shall I?
Lived in London long time than Tuscany now back to London
I hope someone can help
Was planning to drive my car from italy with a friend at the end of august but I could really do with having it now.
I cannot go and fetch it and do the journey on my own cause I have a young child and my friend cannot take time off till end of august
so
Do you know of any service at all to take a car across europe
anybody that may do it
any kind of club car / car share scheme?
Any suggestion most welcome
B

Francagoestohollywood · 15/06/2011 18:16

Spaghettina, yes, I'd look for alternatives too, if I were in your shoes! Nidi comunali are usually very good and used to stick to strict guidelines (in terms of recruitment of staff), which have sadly slipped over the years because of money cuts (for instance employing staff with contratti a tempo determinato instead of indeterminato, and therefore more turnover)

Rosa, at last you are done with the IDs! Minirosa sounds adorable in that minnie dress!

JUstforthisone, hello! I don't know about this. I suppose you can contact shipping or even removal companies, but that'd be £££. I'll have a good thought about it.

JustForThisOne · 15/06/2011 23:22

thanx Franca
yes it will not be cheap and may be it would make sense to sell it and to buy here a new car but i HATE car hopping and I love my current car which I had for only once year
hummmm I have driven up and down a few times but now with the dc in tow... (bad spelling for sure) I am having second thoughts, if I find an alternative I would rather pay but be sitting comphy at home (rolling eyes)

BananaGio · 16/06/2011 07:12

Justforthisone - cant help am afraid - second the suggestions to contact shipping companies.
Just had to come on to say- Brunetta - WTF!!

OP posts:
Rosa · 16/06/2011 12:01

If t were me I would get somebody to look after the dc and then take a cheap flight to Italy and drive back ... However the later you leave it the higher the ferry crossings will be in cost. PLus the traffic on the Frence motorways. Sorry I can't help as my flights are booked and paid for .
Brunetta and Berlusconi idiots.
The minnie dress was washed yest am , dried and ironed and she wore it again yesterday afternoon.....Its getting hot again here ! A week to go and then its teh beach that is if I ever pack / get sorted and DH is working all next week and thsi weekend of course!

Francagoestohollywood · 16/06/2011 13:56

Justforthisone: I've had an idea. Do you speak Italian? Would you post an ad on the local Italian newspaper and see if there is anyome going to the UK and willing to drive your car and go 50/50 with the expenses? Is it a doable thing do you think or am I dreaming? Grin. The other day I was listening to Radio Popolare, which has a pg of classified ads (people ring in and offer all sorts of things/services etc) and a guy rang saying that he was driving to Corsica, was anyone interested in going with him... that's why I've had this thought.

Otherwise shipping company it is!

Gio, yes, Brunetta is unbelievable! And did you hear Squacuandrio or whatever his name is saying that the left wingers won on the internet because they non hanno un cazzo da fare? lol lol lol!

Rosa, I hate packing. And we are way thins weekend, che palle! Hot here too.

BananaGio · 20/06/2011 06:36

I love packing to go away (sad I know). I have a spreadsheet and everything Grin. Love the anticipation of a good time that comes with it. Hate hate hate packing to come back. Where are you off to Rosa? Is minirosa still in the minnie dress? Where did you go to this weekend Franca?
We spent both days al lago. Was gorgeous weather, water is warming up. Although it took DP about 10 mins to go under for his primo bagno so busy was he moaning re it being freezing all while I was barking my usual rhetoric re him not knowing he was born, he didnt know what cold water was blah blah. Anyway twas lovely and I did lots of reading on my much adored kindle and ds was very proud as he let me throw him a bit in the air so he went under water for a second which he normally hates as is a bit nervy re water on his face.

Francagoestohollywood · 20/06/2011 10:36

Ciao Gio, che bello il lago! You must have had a great time Smile, nothing beats lazying on the beach with a good book!

We went to the countryside at the inlaws, it is lovely there. The inlaws had a big party on Friday to celebrate their birthdays and as they are now 80 and 70 they celebrated their 150 with a little show of songs from the risorgimento! It was a great evening, shame it was windy and really cold for June. On Saturday we went to a wedding and I am now officially too old to survive wedding with all the drinking, standing up and dancing...

This is our last week in Milan I think, I'll probably take the children to le marche next week, with my mother... help!

Rosa · 20/06/2011 12:16

Minnie dress is literally worn , wash / iron a ruota ! Gio weekend sounds lovely mind you I hate swimming in Lakes I don't know why but it just scares me and I only paddle unless very very hot !!! Franca 150 party how great , yes it was very windy and colder as well here yesterday.
We head to Cavallino next Sat and one bag is already in the car. No idea when I will get the next one done ! Much easier if we just buy a house at the beach ( oh and one in the mountains whilst we are at it please !!)
I have purchased some books for the book reader ( for in flat reading) but dh has lent the book reader to his sister .......Don't think I am ready for a Kindle yet have enough problems with the I phone and I only have the 3 !

Francagoestohollywood · 22/06/2011 09:34

Ah Rosa, you've just reminded me that I need to go to the bookshop and buy some books for the beach. I am not ready for a kindle or the likes yet, I still enjoy paper, iyswim Grin.

Today it's pagelle day, aiuto!!!

Rosa · 22/06/2011 13:05

Oh let us know how they get on .....I don't know I can't get any uooommpphh to get anything done and it won't all be done by sat I can see the girls having 1 ciabatta as I haven't packed the second one etc ....

Francagoestohollywood · 23/06/2011 12:37

The pagelle went extremely well, for both of the dc, they are both very happy and proud Smile

Rosa are you off on Sat then? We have been invited by some relatives of dh to stay in Padua over the weekend (taking the train tomorrow afternoon) and we were thinking of taking the children to Venice on Saturday... but I guess it is not a good time for you with the packing and all Sad... well, if you have some spare time to meet for a quick coffee text me!!!

Rosa · 23/06/2011 12:42

I might be round sabato mattina as I think we are going to go dopo pranzo on sat as we can't get the keys til 4pm ..All depends on how much we get loaded into the car domani ......
Warning it will be hot ..but you are used to that in Milan !!!!

Rosa · 23/06/2011 12:42

Oopps thats really good news for the DC and also proud for you as well !!!

Francagoestohollywood · 23/06/2011 13:19

I'll text you on sat morning from the train, I know you'll be busy so don't worry if you can't make it my dear Smile

BananaGio · 23/06/2011 21:15

ah good news for the dc Franca. and now they have the long summer ahead of them. how lovely to be a kid in Italy in the summer. We are trying ds in a centro estivo for a week in July. Not sure how he will find it as can be timido out of his comfort zone but we will see.
have a lovely holiday Rosa and enjoy Padua franca

OP posts:
Francagoestohollywood · 23/06/2011 21:42

Gio, you are right, I remember so well how much I loved the summer holidays when I was a child (mind you, at the end of August I started to look forward to going back to school, mainly to see my friends). I suppose things are more complicated nowadays, when both parents often work full time etc. Mind you, mine used to work too, and I used to spend weeks with my grandmothers, which - again - I loved.
What kind of centro estivo have you picked? A sporty one or something more tranquillo? The animatori are usually quite good, hopefully he is going to enjoy himself. I would love to send ds away for a week next year, to one of these summer camps in northern Italy (there is one for instance where they go riding etc, which is said to be amazing), but as much as he would like to be there, he is also very apprehensive to sleep away from us (both my dc are happy to sleep at their grandparents', but they don't want to do sleepovers at friends'... Hmm)...
Yes, looking forward to going to Padua and Venice!

Francagoestohollywood · 23/06/2011 21:43

Ah, and Gio, me and a friend were talking of going to Rome for the ponte dei morti... watch this space Grin

BananaGio · 24/06/2011 06:31

come come Franca! We'll get Sput in and we can have a LI meet up!
The centro estivo seems to be a mix. Art, theatre etc in the mornings and sports and swimming in the afternoon. We'll see. Hopefully he'll like it and he can do 2 weeks, then its 2 weeks in the UK and a month al mare. I envy my son Smile

OP posts:
Francagoestohollywood · 24/06/2011 13:11

Yes, it'd be wonderful to meet up, wouldn't it!
Centro estivo sounds like good fun and indeed master gio's summer holidays sound perfect!
I am off packing now, then I have to dash at the recita of the dc. Ciao!

Sputnik · 27/06/2011 11:09

Oh, I'm up for it! Still haven't got around to meeting up with Gio yet though. Hopefully from sept when they're back at school. Been really busy here, and now DS is at home I have even less time.
So hot here, can't wait til DD finishes school on tuesday and we'll be mostly out of Rome. I also booked my tickets to the Uk for august, ouch, is all I can say!

Francagoestohollywood · 28/06/2011 12:50

Yeah Sputnik!!

So sorry I couldn't make it to meet you Rosa, but I had a stroppy 9 yrs old (going on 14...) and a tight schedule... Sad. I hope you are having a great time al mare. xxx

Rosa · 03/07/2011 17:49

BananaGio · 09/07/2011 06:17

little Italy winding down for the summer I see Smile. lake or pool today-can't decide... decisions decisions. just sitting here debating with myself about the possibility of scrapping Sky subscription in the light of the UK press debacle and the fact that would then mean our only real option would be Berlusconi's monopoly instead. Che tristezza ragazze!
