Cool that you've booked your wedding, strawberry, how exciting. You said before I think that you don't want a big traditional wedding, is that right? I think I'd be the same, couldn't be doing with months and months of planning! (Actually DP and I talked about it and I realised it's the thought of all the expense and planning that's putting me right off the idea - what a romantic I am!)

Are you having any kind of theme or aesthetic? I'll get thinking about cheap table decorations.

How's everyone else? jbells are things better with your other half?

I'm on my tod this weekend and next as DP's away...need to get used to it as there's possibly loads more coming in April by the looks of it.

strawberrypie · 18/02/2011 16:12

Hello Quod, yes I have never really been interested in getting married let alone having a massive wedding but with the pregnancy it just felt right to go ahead with it.

We both started off just thinking it would be another box ticked but am now both quite looking forward to being married!

I don't know whether to bother with table decorations or not as the room will look nice without but I am feeling a bit of pressure to do things because it is what people 'do' IYSWIM?

What are you planning for this weekend? A bit of pampering? Watching films/TV that OH does not normally like? :)

nannyl · 18/02/2011 17:12

Hello everyone

Mrs, i dont think table decortations are essential. friends of ours got some jars from ikea and filled them with sweets

looked really cool, we could eat them and cheep Smile

100 good luck for your scan... 10 days til mine and i cant wait

have had a mixed week.... Wed am i was sick, with NO warning whatsoever.... was feeling quite good, id got up and started sorting the previouse months clean washing that was in piles in spare room
decided i needed a wee (I keep a sick bowl next to loo as often moving to the loo makes me sick, but anyway)
sat down and... well i grabbed the bowl, prohectile vomited EVERYwhere.... it sort of did a tidal wave over the side of the bowl all over the floor about 1m away, and some more rebounded straight back into my face / hair / lap, and somehow still loads IN the bowl.
was quite shocking, although i guess was nice to not be feeling sick.
felt dizzy in the afternoon, so didnt go in yesturday

Yesturday was my best day EVER, for a few hours i felt FINE and normal, so announced i was going back to work today, for my last day...

Last night was just awful... constant vomiting from midnight til about 4am Sad, and again this morning Sad
Couldnt go in afterall Sad, at home feeling crap. Been back to Dr and am signed off again. My oseophagus really hurts now... even though as soon as i feel sick i take gaviscon, so it doesnt hurt so much. I still end uo vomitting loads of blood everytime though.

I now have a small bump Smile and i think i am starting to feel pg like theres a baby in there, as opposed to tired / ill.
Its starting to feel real.

Really looking forward to my scan.. i want to know that ive only got one in there, so many people (inc drs etc) have asked am i sure I only have 1... well no im not sure actually.
Am starting to come round to the idea of twins and if it is, am not worried. In some ways i might be disapointed if theres only 1, now i have thought it over so much! Although perhaps it will be a relief?

Im only 10.5 weeks, but do have a real bump? Is that normal for a 1st single pregnancy?

Also have managed to put back 3kg of the 6kg i lost through sickness. Not sure if thats a good thing, to have put on 3kg in one week!!!!!

Hope everyone has a good weekend. If im well enough we are going to medowhall, sheffield tomo for a bit of baby browsing Smile

also its OHs birthday monday, so dinner with his dad and step mum on sunday (If im well enough) and my mum and her new mum are coming to visit on monday and taking us (and OHs mum and step dad) out for dinner... i really really want to be well enough to go!

nannyl · 18/02/2011 17:14

i mean my mum and her new MAN!!!

Quodlibet · 18/02/2011 18:04

Wow nannyl, twins would make my head spin. Got to say neither of my friends who are currently preg had a bump at 12 weeks even, but then everyone's different. Nice for you to finally feel like there's a baby (or possibly 2!) involved now though not just illness as you say.

Strawberry I dunno if table decorations are necessary, it must be hard to know what you do and don't need because you get bombarded with SOOO much 'wedding' stuff! In one sense it's nicer to be able to see the other people on the other side of the table...a wedding I went to did a clever thing which also helped everyone get to know each other - each table had a pineapple on it and guests at each table had a sweepstake as to how many leaves on their pineapple, that was quite fun, think there might have been some kind of prizes involved. Filled in one of the gaps between courses as I remember. Another friend got everyone a scratchcard instead of favours, which went down well too! I don't think people mind if you miss out the bits that aren't important to you!

I'm going to the theatre tonight, Sunday meeting a friend for cinema etc...probably just lazing around tomorrow as I'm a bit skint! My best friend's partner works with DP and if one's away, they're both away so we quite often end up doing stuff while they're off together.

mrswantstobeamum · 18/02/2011 18:25

Hi ladies, just marking my place. I'll try to catch up over the weekend. I hope everyone is well!

squirrel007 · 19/02/2011 09:18

Hi everyone! I'm just back from a week away, was in Germany for a work trip. I normally like going away, but it's good to be back home this time. I was feeling a bit ill last night so went to bed 'for a lie down' at 6:30, and didn't get up again till this morning! Shock Now I am up and about before DH, which is really unusual.

mrsS good luck with the 2ww :)

100years bet you're looking forward to the scan now!

strawberry exciting that you've booked the wedding!! The planning bit is quite fun, but I think it's easy to slip into being stressful. What sort of style dress are you having? What's your budget for table decorations? I agree that you could probably get away without, and your guests wouldn't really notice, but I know the temptation to do what everyone else does! How about some flowering plants in nice pots? You can give them away then as thank yous.

quod hope you find something to do this weekend!

nannyl sorry you're still ill, but it's good that you're having good days now. I didn't have a bump at 10 weeks, but I was definitely bigger - I think it was bloating. I was in bigger trousers by that point. Happy birthday to your OH :)

Hi to everyone else, hope you have a good weekend lined up! I think I have the exciting job of cleaning the house, which is a bit of a mess :(

MrsSatsuma · 19/02/2011 12:32

Hi everyone - sorry I've been AWOL! Had rotten week - so glad it's half term. Strawberry it's not cheeky at all, it's a fact that I'll be less tired this week! It evens out over the year but it's tough going when you're at school for 12 hours because of parents' evenings etc... Still more interesting than my old job though! As for table decorations - we had round tables seating 8 or 10 (I can't remember) - I bought a vase per table at £1.50 each from Sainsbury's, then filled it with rain drop things (like these). I put a single rose in each one and it looked really effective. Cost about £25 altogether I think - a lot cheaper than flower arrangements! I had one arrangement for the top table and bridesmaids and I put our bouquets on there too.

Good luck to ladie waiting for scans - nannyl twins would be exciting (if hard work!). I've always thought that it'd get the whole thing over with in one go as I want two kids...!?!?!

Fed up this week - family thing meaning I haven't slept that well. DH was also ill. Am thinking 2ww is a bit pointless this week - EWCM appeared on the day he was ill, which is day 23 of cycle - is this normal?! Means we probably missed OV. Considering my cycle is 28-29 days I'm now also a bit worried about luteal phase being too short. DH doesn't say much when I tell him - just said 'oh' and 'never mind, it'll happen'. He doesn't seem to be that bothered. I have pointed out that it is my career that the timing affects, and my boyd that's going to have to go through all this, so it shouldn't be just me working out when we should be SWI, as I then end up feeling like it's my fault if I mis-time it. If it were up to just him it probably wouldn't ever happen because he'd never think about things like ovulation... Am really fed up with his complete lack of disappointment when it doesn't happen, especially as I know he wants it as much as I do! GRRRRR.

Quodlibet · 19/02/2011 13:43

MrsS, could you have missed an earlier bout of EWCM? I quite often seem to get it at at about CD12 and then another mysterious batch about a week later. Not sure what this means? Anyone?

I agree with you it's annoying when they don't take any responsibility for the cycle stuff, isn't it? I guess you have to appreciate that nothing similar happens with their bodies so they're just not used to considering it. We're not TTC yet but I've managed to get my DP involved by explaining that using FAM means we can have UPS on non-fertile days of my cycle...which he's obviously up for knowing about!! We'd previously discussed how doing the deed for the first time with no contraception (ie TTC) would be pretty terrifying. So for me doing a bit of FAM means I feel like I'll working up to it (the weird mind games we play, eh?!)

Bought some folic acid for myself today - a big step for me. Only wish they didn't say MUM TO BE on the front of the packet, that's just going to freak DP out if he finds them!

bebejones · 19/02/2011 14:48

My broadband isn't working but just wanted to say I am still 'here'! I can't catch up properly til broadband is fixed which hopefully will be Tuesday! Will be back then! Love to all! x

strawberrypie · 20/02/2011 18:06

Thanks for all the ideas for table decorations guys! Loads of good ones that had never crossed my mind :)

Are your cycles always regular MrsS and Quod? I think you can get more than one spell of EWCM if your body tries to ovulate but doesn't maybe because of stress/travel/illness but then tries again successfully a few days later. This would mean that you would get a longer cycle that month as the LP is usually quite constant (11-14 days I think but I can't be sure). I'm not sure what could cause more than one lot of EWCM within an average cycle length, maybe AC would know....

MrsS- one other thing that crossed my mind, If something bad happens that upsets my OH then I always seem to underplay my reaction as I don't want him to be worried about me as well IYSWIM. Maybe this is what your OH is doing when you get your AF? Not necessarily helpful for you but maybe he is doing it for the right reasons??

Wow about possible twins Nannyl! Roll on the scan then we can all find out! It wlli be like Christmas morning all over again!

bebejones · 21/02/2011 07:58

Hello!!! :)

Nannyl - Glad you have bouts of feeling better, even with the toilet 'incident'! Twins would be mega exciting! Although had been suggested when I was so ill too & I have never felt more relieved than when the sonographer said 'there is only 1 in there'!

MrsS - Maybe your DH is trying to not be disappointed in front of you & staying upbeat to not upset you?

Strawberry - Oooooooh the day before the Royal Wedding!! Wink We will all be here with our hats on! :o
Table decs, we had glass vases with glass beads and fairy lights in, cheap & looked nice. Also had jars with sweets that people could help themselves to! What about glass bowls with water & floating candles (if you are allowed naked flames in your venue) or even put flower heads in the water instead, daisy type ones?

No real news here, broadband is mysteriously working again! Hmm Been potty training DD (how glamourous!) and have to say DH is useless! Angry Snappy with her, panicked about leaving the house, paranoid she is going to wee on him FFS!

Just coming to the end of my baby window of oppurtunity! Can't TTC next couple of months to avoid Dec/Jan babies so am going to be really good & just let DHs work settle & then start building up to asking about trying again. Not sure he's changed his mind, especially after potty training! Hmm But really need him to buck his ideas up! My health is not going to improve any time soon!!

100years · 21/02/2011 14:53

Tomorrow Shock

Will post properly then, kind of in between relaxed and really Fcing nervous!!!!

Quodlibet · 21/02/2011 17:28

100, how exciting.

MrsS, after a bit of googling it turns out it's not uncommon to have a bout of EWCM at ovulation and another batch about a week later due to another release of oestregen as your womb lining thickens. Looking back over my calendar, this makes sense of mine, maybe also means that you didn't necessarily miss OV...

Have ordered TCOYF to try to get a better grip on this!

Quodlibet · 22/02/2011 14:52

100 hope your scan goes well today.

mrswantstobeamum · 22/02/2011 20:08

Hi everyone,

Sorry for not posting in a while; work has been manic the past couple of weeks. We've also been busy buying baby stuff - I'm most excited about our Bugaboo Cameleon, which we picked up off E-bay. I've also bought some lovely maternity clothes online and from Mamas & Papas. My bump is quite substantial now and I'm starting to feel heavily pregnant, although I've still got a few weeks until the third trimester (at 23+4 now). My baby has just figured out how to kick me in the ribs, which seems to be his new favourite hobby!

100years, I hope your scan went well and everything's okay with the baby.

Strawberry, good luck with your wedding plans! I have also seen someone do glass vases filled with sweets and it was really cute.

Nannyl, Sad that you're still feeling so poorly. Hopefully it will start to get better now that you're close to the second trimester.

MrsS, good luck with the 2WW! Sometimes it's hard to tell exactly when these things happen even when you're tracking it closely, so try to hope for the best.

Bebe, good luck with the potty training!

100years · 22/02/2011 22:42

Hi everyone. :)

Baby is a wriggler, good and proper. Kept kicking it's legs and breakdancing it's bum up and down :)

They have now got me down at 12 wks and 5 days, so my EDD is the 1st Sept. Kind of funny as technically the very earliest it could be due to when we DTD means it's the 2nd, but I wasn't going to quibble over a day!

Didn't pay for the scan pic as it's not as clear as they would have liked, so she gave it me for free. Been great to tell friends and show a few people the pic. :)

Really tired now as I have had a busy old day and didn't sleep well last night.

How is everyone?

AmandaCooper · 23/02/2011 07:06

Hi everyone, sorry I've been AWOL. No news here, everything is the same as it always was. The kitten is keeping me busy, it's very demanding compared to what I expected. Not sure about trying to manage a baby at the same time. Hopefully the kitten will get easier with time.

Strawberry that's exciting news about the wedding. We have had a lot of weddings on this thread over the years! It's a welcome distraction from the waiting for me.

Nannyl sorry to hear the terrible sickness persists. Hope you feel better soon, once this first stage is out of the way. Counting down to your scan.

MrsWTBAM good lord you are nearly cooked! Exciting about the chameleon let us know how you get on with it.

100years how lovely that your scan went well and LO is fighting fit. Already passing for younger than it really is - you must have good genes!

OP posts:
AmandaCooper · 23/02/2011 07:12

MrsS have you tried drinking grapefruit juice yet? I tried it and it really made a big difference to the amount of EWCM.

OP posts:
WYorksLass · 23/02/2011 09:36

100, i'm really glad your scan went well, it's great to finally see your baby isn't it.

Not much happening with me. I am 13+6 now and the sickness has finally eased off. This has been replaced by me eating like a horse. I also seem to have developed a craving for Oranges. As far as cravings go i think that's a good one, although i am worrying for my teeth!

I went to my first Pregnancy Yoga class last night and really enjoyed it. It feels good to do some exercise again, albeit very gentle.

mrswantstobeamum · 23/02/2011 09:50

100years, congrats on your scan and a healthy and active LO!

Amanda, I just saw the photo of your kitten - very cute! Pets can be demanding, especially new ones, but I'm sure you'll settle into your routine soon and it will get a bit easier.

WYorksLass, glad you're feeling better. It's funny, I also craved oranges around that time! I've craved loads of fruit and dairy throughout my pregnancy.

nannyl · 23/02/2011 10:39

Good morning all.

100, glad your scan went well, must eb so exciitng to see a baby there Smile

WYorks so glad your sickness has eased, you give me hope

Amanda glad you are enjoying your kitten! They are so cute and grow so fast Smile

Mrs, i have also got some ebay maternity bargains. Wonder if we have been bidding against each other, lol

Bebe, pleased your broad band is back. hows potty training going?

Not much news here... Whilst i was well Thurs pm, I feel like ive just felt sicker and sicker since Friday am. I managed to make all the meals to celebrate OHs birthday (just!!!) but due to snow we didnt go shopping. Probably a bit of luck as i felt so poorly by lunch time.
was very very sick again monday night... once i start i just cant stop... i literally get back to bed, and sit on bed, then rush back to loo, or occasionaly i manage to lie down for up to 3 - 5 mins (or 3 - 5 secs!) then back to loo.... repeat constantly for several hours at a time.

Had accupuncture yesturday which normally makes me better... to be fair i felt awful, but anyway i came home and ate a bit of lunch, and projectile vomited everywhere again.....
Last night i slept well, Smile and i dont think i feel as sick today, but i dont feel well either.

I was supposed to be cutting down on my anti sick tablets, but i just cant yet!!!

Am 11+ 1 now and cant wait for my scan on Monday!

Oh and just to add my mums new man (do i call him new step dad?) has already placed a bet on us having a girl and babies name. Interesting as we have no clue yet!!!

Quodlibet · 23/02/2011 11:05

Hello all

100, reallly pleased to hear your scan went well. Do you feel like you can relax a bit now? Have you got a new load of people to tell about the pg?

Nannyl I really feel for your courageous ongoing battle against the tides of nausea, you poor thing. Not long til your scan now is it?

(waves to everyone else.)

Well, the massive news here (drum roll) is that we talked things over last night and DP has decided that he thinks that we should stop using contraception and see what happens. Shock

I'm not really sure how I feel now - mainly aghhhhhahhhhhhhh!

nannyl · 23/02/2011 11:52

oooooh quod, now that is exciting news.

so does contraception start from right now?
very exciitng.... good luck. Smile

Feel like i am getting sense of humour failure over being so sick... was really down about it yesturday Sad
5 days until scan!!! Grin

will be interesting drinking lots though as almost every drink (especially water) makes me be sick!

currently can drink 5 alive and lucozade and, thats about it! drinking large amounts makes me vomit immediately, so not sure how that will go on monday!

nannyl · 23/02/2011 11:52

i mean contraception END right now!!!
