old thread here

We just pulled into "Other Subjects" station. Please have your tickets ready for inspection.

Having my kitchen inspected fills me with dread! We 'inherited' the kitchen with the house & haven't had the money to replace it. It's just not massively practical layout wise. Plus we have 2 cats & I'm not sure how that would be viewed. Not that they are up on the counters or sleeping on the cooker or anything!

Quod - it does totally take over doesn't it?! He can't seem to see that there are other aspects of his life that need his attention. His mood drags me down too. I've been increasingly snappy & bad tempered with DD lately & I'm sure it's DHs work situation that is rubbing off on me!

ShaggingWithIntent · 07/04/2011 23:22

Oh Bebe. It sounds as though you're having such a tough time at the moment and there is no easy solution. I reay feel for you and hope something good happens soon.

Popped in from the April/May/June thread as I missed you a! They're ok over there but not like you guys!!! Couldn't face being on here when I was still waiting as was getting stupidly jealous of all the BFPs but now I'm feeling in a better place so hope you'll have me back!

Hands out virgin pimms and cucumber sandwiches for everybody.

AmandaCooper · 08/04/2011 00:08

Have you back? Grin

Pull up a chair, lass! Oh and mind all the gruffalos the bloody things breed like rabbits. I knew getting a second one was a bad idea! By the time I caught one POAS it was too late.

Bebe I demand you get your kitchen inspected without further ado. It will make an interesting anecdote for the thread!

I'm afraid 'Cakey Bakey Heart' :o is on hold until DD starts Preschool properly in Sept! I'm working on getting experience/certified until then. Plus I don't have time with DD dangling on my apron strings to scrub the kitchen to within an inch of its life!!

Welcome back Shagging!!! The graduates thread has been a bit full on (having been monitoring sneakily) Wink

Feeling slightly (but only slightly) more chipper today! Despite having spent half the night on the sofa after DD woke me up at 2.30am and I couldn't get back to sleep in our boiling bedroom with DH snoring his head off! Hmm

ShaggingWithIntent · 08/04/2011 08:44

Awwww thanks girls!!
do you like my new name?!?!

And yes - the graduates are a little bit full on. Can't believe that some are already worrying about telling their mums and they've not even started TTC yet!! I like it over here where there is chat of other things and not just all things baby! :)

Loving the business name bebe that is genious!! I can't believe that your DD is going to be starting pre-school in September. Is she excited??

Hurrah for the weekend. It's a lovely sunny day here and I am keeping my fingers crossed for this sticking around for the weekend. Would love to have some time in the garden to chill out :)

DH has his bonus meeting today (FX) so we should have a bit of an idea this weeked as to what we can put aside for (hopefully) our little one!

WYorksLass · 08/04/2011 09:38

Bebe, the cake making business sounds great and it's good you've got something to aim for. Shame you don't live near here! I like cake :)

MrsS, we have pretty much got a name sorted now. It will probably be

William Michael Sxxxxx but may be Matthew Michael Sxxxxxx

We are going to see which one suits him best when he arrives.

Some good new here: we've been through our finances and it looks like i'll be able to be a SAHM, yay! Due to this i am probably going to take my maternity leave as soon as i legally can. It has cheered me up no end knowing i could be out of here by early June Grin

ShaggingWithIntent · 08/04/2011 09:54

WYorks - wonderful news that you can be a SAHM! how exciting for you Grin Good call on the names too. It's nice to have 2 options and then choose which one suits him the most when he arrives.

I still can't believe how the time has flown and everybody on here is updiffed and focussing on Maternity leave!

x

Quodlibet · 08/04/2011 09:58

Hurrah some good news, WYorks, lucky you!
Good luck for ShaggingWithDH's bonus meeting too.

I love love love Cakey Bakey Heart - Bebe will you at least register the internet domain so no-one nicks it in the meantime? (my tip - do your website with Wordpress then it'll be easy enough to update yourself instead of paying someone to do it)

Can I please borrow the gruffalos? DP has gone to France and taken the key to our bike shed, despite me reminding him to leave it last night and him saying 'Oh yes, well remembered, yes I will', which now means my quick pop to give blood is going to take most of the afternoon! Not the first time he's done this. Hoping they'll actually have my blood this time, last time my iron was too low.

WW awesome news on your scan date coming through. How exciting!! I got excited taking my first pregnacare yesterday do can only imagine the levels of anticipation and excitement involved in a 12 week scan!! Hopefully I'll find out in the not too distant future :)

Ooops MrQuod..... It sounds like there are plenty of Gruffalos going spare with their breeding habits as they are so maybe you should send a gang of them!!! Speaking of train guests, are Jake and George still manning the bar? They must be very lonely in there will so many passengers updiffed

Am LOVING the sunshine today. Sitting on a bench for lunch and taking my full 1hour thank you very much!!! What's everyone up to this weekend?

I know..... it's going to be really hard when my first AF arrives isn't it? I'm very lucky that you are all on here to keep me sane and provide me with tons of advice!

It must be incredibly frustrating to be doing everything by the book and you still don't know if it will work. I'm probably the fittest and healthiest I have been in years so am hoping that goes in my favour but you just never know!

Good luck with your non-pregnant face! You should practice in the mirror before you go!! Either that or when they ask you should say "yeah - 36 weeks, can't you tell?!?" then laugh and they will forget all about it!

bebejones · 08/04/2011 13:36

I'm very confused about the hygiene certs. I think there is possibly 2 I should do. But it's mega confusing!

SWI - the new name is fab-u-lous! :o

I'm loving the sun today, and Im not normally one for sunshine. Am going to let DD play with her sandpt while I paint the agrden wall! :)

Quod - How frustrating! I have to admit it's usually me in this house that does things like that! At least it isn't raining though, that would have been worse! Wink

Shall look into domain names, DH is really better at that sort of stuff. I have no idea about creating websites at all! Confused

ShaggingWithIntent · 08/04/2011 13:51

I wonder if the local council might be able to offer some advice on what certificates you need.....? Could be worth a try (if you can get through to them!)

Good advice on the domain names too. I think for something like $17 per year you can register and create a website through wordpress. Pretty reasonable. I just checked and www.cakey-breaky-heart.com is currently available.... get on there and secure it now!!

bebejones · 08/04/2011 13:54

I shall look into it! There is a cake baker website which has loads of good advice on starting up a business so will have a proper look on there too.

I can't operate in $, no credit card...well not one I can use! Blush

We are going to be BBQing tonight, first one of the year! Hoorah! :o The weather here in the West country is glorious, hope it is as nice everywhere else today?! Has really picked my mood up! :)

ShaggingWithIntent · 08/04/2011 14:16

Oooh - DH is home late tonight (train back from London) but we will hopefully be having the first BBQ of 2011 tomorrow evening - can't wait! I love BBQs

Quodlibet · 08/04/2011 14:24

Bebe, it's the second time he's done this, last time it ended with the Great International Car Key Relay event which involved 4 separate people passing the key along back to me in time to drive 5 people on a weekend break, you'd have thought the shame and inconvenience of that might have lodged in his mind!

ShaggingWithIntent · 08/04/2011 14:41

Oh God!! What a pain Quod!

I've been relatively lucky with things like that although I did manage to lock my mum, sister and I out of my flat when I was at uni. No spare key and I didn;t realise until 1:30am.... Had to get one of the doormen I know to go home, get his tools and break in for me. I then did it again 1 week later!

bebejones · 08/04/2011 15:55

I remember that Quod! Oh dear! I dympathise with both of you! You for the inconvienience & your DH because I am so forgetful too!

I'm always losing my keys! I locked myself out of the house the other week & FIL had to bring me DHs house key home from the office for me! Luckily I had DD with me, would have been awful if she was in the house & I was locked out!!

Have painted half the garden wall, just have the steps & the other half to go, but it's a West facing garden & it's hot out there right now! Was making me feel a bit dizzy! Just hosed DD of in the shower & she's sat here all tired & damp & cute! Her hair is mega curly when it's freshly washed, I could just eat her up! :o If only we had stuff for Pimms, it is definitely Pimms o'clock! :o

ShaggingWithIntent · 08/04/2011 16:16

shall I drop off some Pimms on my way back from the supermarket? (being as we're almost neighbours down in the Westcountry!!!) Grin

bebejones · 08/04/2011 16:32

Yes but I shall also need lemonade, oranges, strawberries, cucumber & mint coz I only have ice, apples & lemons! :o

Have found nothing suitably intoxicating....Hmm

Quodlibet · 08/04/2011 17:40

I have a miniature bottle of gin. After schlepping to the blood people they rejected me because of my d&v the other week. Small bottle of gin not really going to cut it tbh.

bebejones · 08/04/2011 18:35

Having now fully assessed the alcohol situation we only have beer (which I don't like) Champagne (not really the occasion for any of that) and vodka......could maybe have a vodka & orange?! But tis raspberry vodka, will that be nice? What about with coke? Hmm

ShaggingWithIntent · 08/04/2011 18:47

Raspberry vodka and orange? Yummy!! However I vote for cracking open the fizz!!! Sitting in the garden with a pint of Pimms. Yum!
