I got a C in O'level maths and it was the one I was most proud of - because I actually had to work for it. It also meant I never had to do maths again. I have to stay with dh for ever (well, at least 'til the kids have left school) 'cos he can help them with maths and science. Mind you, ds1 was stuck with a maths question last week, I posted on here and had an answer in seconds...maybe I don't need dh so much

Janh · 26/09/2005 20:45

Who needs men when you have mn?

marthamoo · 26/09/2005 20:46

Ain't that the truth.

Wallace · 26/09/2005 20:52

I got 19, so annoyed it was one of the easier ones i got wrong - I realised as soon as I clicked that I had clicked the wrong one. I got 19 in the English one too.

20/20 for maths and 19/20 for english - v annoying!

Isn't mn fantastic - I would never be able to show off like this in RL

Spatz · 26/09/2005 21:13

killed it!
or are you all watching bob dylan film like dh, who can't understand why I'm not glued to tv?

Passionflower · 26/09/2005 21:15

Arghhh at maths only got 12 right!

But got 20/20 in english - DH got 20/20 maths. We are obviously the perfect team

serenity · 26/09/2005 21:16

I got 16, and there wasn't anything in there that I didn't recognise from doing O'Level Maths, I've just forgotten a fair amount

stitch · 26/09/2005 21:16

all the math on it is maximum year 9 stuff.

Lonelymum · 26/09/2005 21:17

I got 17 our of 20 but I hadn't a clue what questions 19 and 20 were even asking me so I just clicked on any answer without looking. So in my book, I got 17 out of 18 and feel quite pleased!

Lonelymum · 26/09/2005 21:17

Oh and 20 out of 20 for the English!

Lonelymum · 26/09/2005 21:42

Just made dh do both tests - ha ha what a laugh! 20 out of 20 for the Maths of course (but he used a calculator for his workings out whereas I did it all on paper or in my head) and 13 out of 20 for the English! So overall 33 out of 40 as compared to my overall 37 out of 40. Ha bloody ha!

csa · 27/09/2005 13:35

how do you get to the english test? can't seem to find the page.

Lonelymum · 27/09/2005 13:42

There is a link to it further down this thread at 4:24 pm on Monday.

csa · 27/09/2005 13:47

oops. missed it. thanks!

triceratops · 27/09/2005 13:49

18 and no calculator or paper. I only got 16 in the english one. Does this mean that I am better at maths than english? Or maybe my maths teacher was better than my english teacher at school?

MrsMiggins · 27/09/2005 13:50

I did better on the English test than the Maths and yet I was advised to do Accountancy at Uni (which I didnt) and now work in as Software developer
Bad advice at school - would much rather be a teacher

suzywong · 27/09/2005 13:52

lost interest on the maths one after the introdcution of Cathy and Brian......didn't really grab me IYKWIM

ajmum · 27/09/2005 13:55

I thought I was really clever with my 18 out of 20 (did test last week at work) but seems like lots of MNers have outdone me! Couldn't remember what an isoceles triangle was and one of the factoring questions stumped me.

There was a great test on the Channel 4 site a few years ago when they had the 1950s school show on and they asked real questions of 50s tests.

Berries · 27/09/2005 14:03

18 on the maths, 17 on the English, but thought the maths was much harder. All off the questions needed some though, the English ones were so much easier (even though I can't spell accommodation )

mawbroon · 27/09/2005 14:20

15/20 for me on the maths but I feel it was more of a memory test than a maths one! It's been quite some time since I did some of that stuff!

DH got full marks, but he is an engineer

Mirage · 27/09/2005 20:47

I always knew I was appalling at maths & this proves it.I didn't even understand the questions never mind know how to go about answering them.I got 5/20 & most of those were guesses.

Cha · 27/09/2005 21:11

me the maths dunce (12/20) got 20/20 for the English one so I feel much better. It was so easy peasy - I suppose this is how all you maths geniuses feel when you do maths. It must be so gratifying to be GOOD AT BOTH
