I suppose this should be in Telly Addicts but it's more general than that really. Did anyone else watch it? Brian Sewell and Michael Winner - what *@!?s! Could't they have found slightly more well balanced Southerners? Guess it wouldn't have been so extreme then. Brian Sewell hoping for another flu epidemic so grim Northern cities can be razed to the ground...mmmm.

hey leave me out of the ancient stakes - I'm a spring chick I am (with a goose neck)

not long to our next b'day eh moo?

Janh · 02/09/2005 23:25

"to t'foot" is entirely correct. even I can say that!

("to t'" and "foot" both rhyme with put but with glottal stop on the t, yes, moo?)

marthamoo · 02/09/2005 23:26

Thankyou genuine Lancashire lass

JT - no, it's not - didn't that come round fast?

OP posts:
JoolsToo · 02/09/2005 23:27

too bloody fast for my liking!

HunkerSorryGiraffeTrollMunker · 02/09/2005 23:27

Ar, not meeting you if you're nearly 36 MM!

only joking

marthamoo · 02/09/2005 23:27

Hey, Jan - we bought a tent. It's coming on Tuesday. How exciting is that?!

OP posts:
marthamoo · 02/09/2005 23:27

I'm very young-looking and beautiful though.

OP posts:
JoolsToo · 02/09/2005 23:28

we may never know ........

marthamoo · 02/09/2005 23:29

Jan's met me - she'll tell you.

OP posts:
Janh · 02/09/2005 23:29

That is fantastic, moo! Welcome to the wonderful mad mad mad mad world of camping (which I don't do much these days if I can help it sssh don't tell hmb!)

Your boys will love it and you probably will too in an "am I really doing this?" kind of way. When are you testing it out? Where are you going?

edam · 02/09/2005 23:30

I don't get the written t' thing - southerners seem to think northerners say the short t sound. And it's not a glottal stop either (that would sound as if Yorkshire is some dialect version of Estuary). Need a northern linguistic curmudgeon...

Janh · 02/09/2005 23:30

moo is gorgeous and elfin (but tall) and doesn't look a day over 30.

(Mind you that was last year )

Janh · 02/09/2005 23:30

Yes but you know what we mean, edam!

Janh · 02/09/2005 23:32

No, you're right, it isn't a glottal stop, but you don't hear the t either; I will ask DD1 what it's called when she gets in from razzing, she got a 2.1 in Linguistics you know!

marthamoo · 02/09/2005 23:32

This is me now, with pmt

OP posts:
Janh · 02/09/2005 23:33

bluddy hell, where'd you find that?

JoolsToo · 02/09/2005 23:34

gosh! yes you are petite aren't you

when will I get the pleasure - why weren't you at Brockhole?

marthamoo · 02/09/2005 23:34

Soon I hope, Jan - before it gets cold. Just for a weekend to start with though. Still need lots of stuff - have tent (well we will on Tuesday) and some dinky folding pans (and a double airbed and sleeping bag for dh and I). But no cooker, sleeping stuff for kids or lighting...hardly essentials though

OP posts:
Janh · 02/09/2005 23:36

moo doesn't drive, JT, and she's the wrong side of Manc for me or Lil to pick her up. We will have to do a S Manc/Chesh meetup specially.

myturn · 02/09/2005 23:37

How far north is North??

Janh · 02/09/2005 23:37

We could lend you some stuff you know - DH works at Stockport, he could do a detour and drop a few essentials off?

marthamoo · 02/09/2005 23:37

As Queen of Google, Jan - do you need to ask.

Spookily enough, JT, we were in the Lakes that week but dh was less than amenable to spending a day of our hols at a MN meet-up (I did ask, but he just doesn't get my MN addiction, sadly). In the event, we couldn't have come as the car sprung a leak, needed a new petrol tank ,spent a couple of days in a Keswick garage and cost us....gulp...£350.

OP posts:
marthamoo · 02/09/2005 23:40

You're a sweetie, Jan - I'm on a camping spending spree atm though (I'll email you when I run out of money )

OP posts:
JoolsToo · 02/09/2005 23:40

oh my - but if we'd known we could have come to Keswick picked you and kids up and left Dh with the leaky car to sort!

too late now though
