Tea Room the Thirteenth

Welcome to the newest instalment of the One Parent Families tea room. As it's heading for spring, we're now in a nice warm orangery surrounded by woodland filled with spring flowers. All are very welcome to join in with us parents of one (or indeed more!), the tea room gardener/handyman Mellors, various virtual Bishops (don't ask) and a variety of other characters from previous tea rooms. Grab a cuppa, relax!...

glad to hear things are looking brighter mary

i am liking the emoticon today

MaryBS · 02/02/2010 16:19

Oo, didn't realise there was a new icon!

daisy99divine · 02/02/2010 16:20

Thanks for the prod StillCrazy! Sorry you had worked nicked. Happens to me all the time, just like that, but you only have to delete and paste these days!

Welcome again AandO and PandaEis. AandO you seem to have got the hang of most things about the tea room very quickly, but no no no! Mellors is lovely and good and kind and strong and makes us all weak at the knees

FIL doing ok now, actually, sitting up in bed and eating and may yet get to go home and see another spring thanks for the thoughts

Actually, I need caffeine
I want your job, AandO....

PandaEis · 02/02/2010 16:21

daisy glad to hear FIL is doing better

MaryBS · 02/02/2010 16:28

Funnily enough, I thought this was Mellors...

amberlight · 02/02/2010 16:28

Yay re your FIL, Daisy!!!! Long may that improvement continue...

Excellent new Daisy.

Am trying to politely tell my boss that I'm not prepared to lie in my appraisal

PandaEis · 02/02/2010 16:35

mary that would work too

StillCrazyAfterAllTheseYears · 02/02/2010 17:14

Hmm. I am confused by all these multiple Mellors. Mary's seems to be wearing suitable protective clothing for pruning the most overgrown roses but, frankly, looks as if he needs a good wash. My Mellors, on the other hand, smells of Imperial Leather and, although somewhat tousled by the end of the day, is not grubby.

Mary, it was a long time ago and so I am Over It, but I do remember it when plagiarism is being discussed!

Supportive appraisal vibes for Cmot.

Excellent news about DaisyGrandad!

amberlight · 02/02/2010 17:41

Ooo, Mary, that could be Mellors, yes! But I still prefer mine

Yeh!!! One parcel has made it through! Charlie and Lola may well turn up too, since I sent them off again after above-mentioned parcel. for comments about my handwriting - I suppose I am a teacher!

Nice young man came to my house and has fixed computers, so double celebration!!!!

Sorry to hear how hard things are, Mary, and about FIL, Daisy. I take it that you mean seriously ill, not just is feeling under the weather. Elderly parents are hard on the emotions.

We are rained in and I have spent all day cleaning. It was necessary, though. It's just that I am both tired and bored. Bleagh.

AandO · 02/02/2010 18:07

I'm thinking that a brad pitt type wearing just jeans would make a very very nice Mellors !

I once handed in a report to my boss to review, she wrote a cover sheet with her name first then mine 2nd. After updating the report I returned it with my name first and hers 2nd !! From then I always made sure to put the cover sheet on myself!

Must go, ds is just been dropped home by his childminder.

thumbwitch · 02/02/2010 19:55

ooh wow, love the new emoticon! Must go and find a thread I can use it sensibly in! I did find one the other day - it looked remarkably trollish and I was v. surprised that no one had said anything, but it certainly merited one of these .

My idea of Mellors is rather rugged and shaggy, but has no specific face that you would know - I must find a similar one. (I don't like D. Craig btw - I find his eyes cold)

mistlethrush · 02/02/2010 19:58

I see Mellors has just got back from a gallop on Earl Grey - had anyone else noticed that there's a stable next to the orangery again?

I'm used to my work being used - its sort of part of what we do in some ways - although at the moment I'm at the stage where I both do the work myself and use it.... earlier on I'd do the work and then someone else would front it up as their own work....

thumbwitch · 02/02/2010 20:03

Am also at all these thieving plagiarising bosses - disgusting behaviour! I hope they all got their comeuppance at some point.

Hurrah for the stable - has it got any Thelwell ponies in it as well as the fabulous Earl and Lady Grey?

mistlethrush · 02/02/2010 20:21

Lady Grey is a thelwell pony though - she's a welsh pony...

thumbwitch · 02/02/2010 20:29

oops - I always pictured her as a grey arab, silly me!

PandaEis · 02/02/2010 20:30

lady grey is beautiful

DD asked if she could have horse riding lessons earlier as her treat for being a good girl (she got dressed with very little fuss today, which is in itself a minor miracle) i have said yes but she will have to wait until daddy gets a new job as JSA doesnt even pay the bills let alone for anything equestrian

anyone know of any jobs going for a well qualified, very good at his job out of work electrician in the north west?? Booo!! the credit crunch is seriously taking the p@#s

StillCrazyAfterAllTheseYears · 02/02/2010 20:31

As for thieving bosses, I am well used to people using and quoting from my work but passing it off as their own by putting their name and only their name on it was just a step too far, methinks.

Anyway, on to happier themes. I'm still feeling quite flustered after this outbreak of beefcake, so am having a medicinal Bolly. Would anyone else like one? We also have a dish/mound/vat of my famous Twiglet Surprise (said in the French pronunciation, as this is a gourmet dish).

thumbwitch · 02/02/2010 20:34

PandaEis - don't know about the NW, but your DH would do well in Australia! Still crying out for qualified electricians over there and they're paid pretty well too...

Bolly sounding like a top idea, thanks StillCrazy!

StillCrazyAfterAllTheseYears · 02/02/2010 20:40

Ah yes, the allure of ponies for little girls. Crazygirl would like riding lessons but already has so many extra-curricular activities that I am bankrupt exhausted from all the chauffeuring.

Panda - Could your dh teach electrical skills to others? Apart from FE colleges, there are loads of courses run by NACRO and others, teaching job skills to offenders. Is there anything like that near you?

Would you like a soothing Bolly?

StillCrazyAfterAllTheseYears · 02/02/2010 20:44
mistlethrush · 02/02/2010 20:55

Bolly... hand me the bottle please SC! OK, I'll use a glass if I really must!

PandaEis - tell me about it - although, don't - becuase dh doesn't qualify for JSA as my wage is too much. However, when we bought our house we rather pushed our budget when we bought our current house, and did budget on my part time wage and dh's full-time wage.... and he's been out of work for a year now. However, there do seem to be many more of his type of jobs coming up, and he is getting the odd interview now!!!!

PandaEis · 02/02/2010 20:56

thumb funnily enough me and DH are currently in semi-serious talks about emigrating to southern australia-adelaide to be exact i have family there and we are hoping to gain a better lifestyle than the crappy one in this country of late

stillcrazy i dont think he has looked into that route TBH i will suggest it and see what he says
he is branching out at the mo as there is so little work in his trade he is applying for a part time postal worker job which is abysmally paid and very hard work but a wage is a wage at the end of the day and something is better than nowt it is just so frustrating because he has worked very hard to get in the position we were in and now its in the pan

anywho i have hot choc and a twirl if anyone wants to share...theres a big stash behind the tatty sofa

mistlethrush · 02/02/2010 20:58

Oh and - ponies - mistlechick was talking to me this morning about having to have some more lessons so that he can get better at riding.... I think I'll have to try to find someone locally with a bomb-proof pony that will allow me to help out with the odd bale of hay or money towards shoeing in return for some leading rein work....
