Tea Room the Thirteenth

Welcome to the newest instalment of the One Parent Families tea room. As it's heading for spring, we're now in a nice warm orangery surrounded by woodland filled with spring flowers. All are very welcome to join in with us parents of one (or indeed more!), the tea room gardener/handyman Mellors, various virtual Bishops (don't ask) and a variety of other characters from previous tea rooms. Grab a cuppa, relax!...

I'm sure you could find someone. We had a v kind offer from a MNetter to use her outgrown LR pony, and once the weather is better, will be taking her up on it - she just wants the pony to get some exercise

Jacksmama · 02/02/2010 23:33

HELLO!!! Found you!! Will be back! (Have invited someone else to join us: GrumpyWhenWoken)

Now if Mr T the family horse were four hands shorter, we could definitely lend him out to dcs galore for lessons. He's very patient with children, but it's like climbing up the north face of K2 for them, bless them.

Blimey, that was a quick visit, JM!

Electricians? We're absolutely desperate beyond words for electricians in the mid Thames Valley. Can't get one for love nor money.

Amber - mistlechick wouldn't mind scaling the heights... I'll have to bring him over when we're staying with my parents !!! (don't worry, not going to turn up on your doorstep uninvited.) (Oh, and if we got our dates right, and CMot was also in the area we could have a big meet up!!!!!!)

CMOTdibbler · 03/02/2010 09:30

DS would have a go on MrT too - the horse I ride is huge, and he is well up for riding him - although he settles for being held up to cuddle him instead.

Talking of which, time to go for my lesson. Hopefully horse will be more co-operative this time - last lesson he condescended to trot nicely, but kept wanting to bog off down the hill to see what the ponies were doing

amberlight · 03/02/2010 11:01

Well there we are then - a tea room Meet the Mr T could be possible. He's currently half hours' drive from us at Tadley, so not easy to nip back to mine for a cuppa afterwards, but there's decent family friendly pubs fairly close

Totally weird coincidence here - was contacted by a chief exec who wanted to meet up with me...and it turns out our buildings are right next to each other! We park next to each other every day and never knew who we were!

That's quite a long way out Amber - is he at livery there rather than DIY?

Then all we have to worry about is hats. Mine is probably still rather too large for mistlechick, and I don't think a cycle helmet would be suitable!!! Will just have to see if we can borrow one from somewhere!.

Dh has an interview on Mon for a job which is extremely close to where I work which would be quite convenient... At least there are more jobs coming up now and he is actually getting to interview stage.

amberlight · 03/02/2010 11:46

He's at part livery, aye. Not a cheap hobby, but they're very good. Good hats definitely. No riding without , but they've 350 acres and two very good schools (indoor and outdoor) so lots of chance for visiting children to potter around.

Fingers crossed for your DH's interview. When will we be out of this bl*dy recession?!

Good morning everyone, and welcome AandO. I am the Canadian contingent of the Tea Room, and my DS is going to be two next weekend. I live just outside the Olympic City - we are already affected by road closures for the event and the Olympic Torch is coming through my neighbourhood Monday morning!!!

However... meh: only one word to describe the Jack household today: norovirus.

Bloody buggering hell.

Oh, that's four words. Oh well. Jackbaby woke up with it at 4:50 am. Has vomited every half hour since.
We appear to have picked it up from friends of ours who had it weekend before last!! I knew it was extremely contagious and that the virus could survive weeks on inanimate surfaces, but really!! I say "we" picked it up because although I still feel well, it went through my friend's family like a dose of salts, so although I'm normally an optimist, I'm remembering October's vomiting bug with ... it went from JB to me in 24 hours.
Personally, I think the emoticon looks more like a [sick and stunned] emoticon.

amberlight · 03/02/2010 16:38

Eeek re the norovirus. Had that in the past and it's and , definitely.

StillCrazyAfterAllTheseYears · 03/02/2010 17:08

Eeek here re the norovirus, too.

mistlethrush · 03/02/2010 18:00

JM - I hope that you are lucky and don't catch it - you never know....

MaryBS · 03/02/2010 18:06

Eek Jacksmama, sounds nasty!!!

thumbwitch · 03/02/2010 19:38

oh dear, JM - that's dreadful! I hope that you manage to avoid it and that Jackbaby gets over it soon.

I am on a wait now to see whether or not miniThumb comes down with chickenpox - friends we spent the first weekend in the UK with have a 3yo who came out in spots on the following Friday. We're not sure how long prior to the spots appearing one is infectious, but we were there on the Monday prior, so we might have got away with it but we might not. (very appropriate face, if not quite right emotion!)

Oh that tea looks good Amber. Yes please!

Finding it difficult to knuckle down....

AandO · 04/02/2010 10:23

Morning! Ooh I'd love a cup of tea!

Mistlethrush, I too am procrastinating. I am supposed to be both working and cleaning the house at the same time this morning, and instead I am MNing . What are you supposed to be knuckling down to do?

mistlethrush · 04/02/2010 10:56

Oooh - letters, reports... that sort of dull stuff..

AandO · 04/02/2010 11:16

I too am supposed to be writing a report, it's been dragging on for ages and I can't motivate myself to finish it . On the plus side I have just mopped the living room floor, loaded the dishwasher, made the beds and put all ds bath toys away!

daisy99divine · 04/02/2010 11:57

procrastinating? That's my middle name!

I agree with Mary's Mellors and loving the Horse Fest being planned. We've not been astride yet in the Daisy Family, but may yet. 350 acres to play in is far more enticing than the surburban trotting ring we would not doubt have to pay in gold dust for

love the sick emoticon, poor you JM

I am happy to announe DaisyGrandad is home and well. and yup, it was totally touch and go

PandaEis - work for your DH? Second the need in London - come down here, please!

Mistle - hope your DH gets something too

Racing lovely to see you again

MWAH MWAH to you all and here is some swiss roll and coffee

mistlethrush · 04/02/2010 12:07

OOooh swiss roll and coffee - that's another thing I can do to not do the things I should be doing...

MaryBS · 04/02/2010 12:20

Yum! Coffee and cake sounds good!

Have done a few jobs, not as many as I ought, but at least I feel I've done something!

thumbwitch · 04/02/2010 14:58

Hurrah for DaisyGrandad! I am so pleased he is on the mend.

I have done nowhere near as much as I should have done but I am seeing lots of people. I suppose that's something! But I still have lots to sort out. And here I am, sitting with miniThumb while he's playing, and I'm on MN again.

MaryBS · 04/02/2010 16:23

Could do with a hug, problems with children, nothing major I hope, but it all gets a bit much sometimes . Son has started wetting himself again, and I've just knelt in a big patch of wee on the carpet. He seems to go through this when he is going through a 'developmental spurt'.
