Goodness, we seem to have run out of space on the other one!
I shall assume that we are still in the same premises as for Tea Room Ten for the moment until wiser people tell me otherwise!!

Twas indeed a "livley " night. Didn;t sleep too well with all teh wond howling round house noises and rain and hail (it sounded like hail) slamming on windows. then phone rang at 6 ish, DHs taxi driver not quite sure where we were so had to give him directions.

Boy woke at 7.30 , shouted BYE BYE DADDY then went back to sleep till 8.15.

Damage here is only 2 fence panels, havn't told landlord yet, suppose I ought to this evening.

I'm going to finish watching Cars tonight, boy declared it TOO SCAREY after watching about half of it from my lap. and refused to watch any more, he wanted Maisy mouse back please.

DH goes to away for work once or twice a year generally, for a week at a time, so I'm not used to it. Time zone & mobile region thang means its e-mail contact only from him this trip.

CMOTdibbler · 14/11/2009 20:02

Oof, thats a bit windy

DS and I had a nice trip to my parents, although he got totally soaked at the Donkey sanctuary boot sale by 'motor boating' through a v large puddle repeatedly, much to the delight of the old ladies in the tea caravan. I poured water out of his wellies in the end.

I like real tearooms. And the odder the better imo. A bit like second hand book shops

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 14/11/2009 20:17

Coo! Things are still quite lively here. Lord Mayor's firework display is cancelled because of gale force winds and bits of tree have been coming down everywhere.

Thank you, Amber, for all the tidying-up you've done.

I have never seen the end of Cars - we had to leave the cinema because MadBadBaby found it too scary. It was a very small screen (old art deco cinema carved up to make 8 screens) and the sound-track was so over-amplified that it was rather terrifying.

Well, it's Saturday night and there's too much wind and wuthering to venture outside. Shall we crack open the Bolly?

UniS · 14/11/2009 20:53

Mulled wine I think, or Gluwein if we are being continental.
Just finished watching Cars, kinda sweet in a two fingers down teh throat kind of way. Yep Mad bad, I think it was teh sound track that was bothering boy, all those revving engines. Even on our tiny 14inch TV.
Any one care to recommend a not at all scary 1st movie for a 3 yr old... unfortunately Tractor Ted teh movie has not yet been made.

Corned beef and Caramel shortbread on teh table for ya'll to try.

RacingSnake · 14/11/2009 21:24

I love this weather! Last night it was a bit scarey driving back from town with Wriggle, especially as we had to go through a ford, but lovely when we got back - curtains closed, woodburner on, rain beating on the windows while we lay on the sofa wrapped in duvets watching AutumnWatch and drinking wine. How good does it get?

Glad we haven't lost any bishops and that the orangery still stands.

First movies for 3-year olds .... I'm sure I have frequently recounted how obsessed Wriggle is with Bambi 2, to the extent that she has been called Bambi at her own request demand for weeks now. Yesterday I tried to break her of the Bambi habit and save my sanity by showing The Lady and The Tramp. She burst into tears when Lady was locked in a little cell, but has been a dog rather than Bambi for two days now (on and off). What is the English title for the Disney film called Merlin in French? Based on TH White's book. That is cheerful and harmless and Wriggle loved the squirrels, fish etc and makes M. Snake wear a Merlin hat we unfortunately found in a charity shop. (I am always the baddie in these scenarios - the witch in Merlin, the evil stepmother in Snow White, etc. )

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 14/11/2009 21:36

Would that be The Sword in the Stone? You know, I've never seen The Lady and The Tramp. Nor the Aristocats. Nor Bambi. I had a deeeprived childhood.

Perhaps we should encourage Mellors to wear a Merlin hat.

Gluhwein would be lovely (and so easy to keep warm on the aga that Amber so skilfully relit). Thank you, UniS.

RacingSnake · 14/11/2009 21:59

That's the one! Actually, the Arisrocats is fairly harmless, too. I had forgotten about Wriggle's French cat phase, when she wanted to lap all her food from her plate.
(As you can all see, I glue my child in front of the DVD player.)

UniS · 14/11/2009 22:07

aristocats IS on my DVD list thanks to you guys. Bambi, not at all sure that would work for this sensitive soul, doesn;t Bambi lose mother and end "up all on his own and lonely" ( currently one of Boys fears).

daisy99divine · 14/11/2009 22:42

Ha!love this weather. Last night daisyboy said "mummy isn't the wind and rain lovely all whoosh and pitter patter not boom and bang like the fireworks!"

did you go to Lord Mayor MadBad? we went swimming at Wimbledon Common instead.

I am going for whiskey tnoight too, we have first fire, baked cake, watched tv and now, curled up, I find 4 weddings is on

DaisyBoy didn't like Carz, found it scarey and long. He likes Aristocats. Bambi far too tragic, but perhaps Bambi 2 isn't (I think that's what Racing said) but I haven't seen it. What about Bedknobs and Broomsticks and the old Disney Robin Hood??

daisy99divine · 14/11/2009 22:43

Brilliant, all Spooks lovers - the woman with the bit part singing the Carpenters song in the First of the Four weddings is none other than Ruth from Spooks

perhaps Harry will turn up soon

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 14/11/2009 23:25

You know, I'm not sure I could face watching Four Weddings again. And I'd forgotten about the Carpenters song.

Harry, of course, is Angel Clare in Roman Polanski's Tess. And was in Equus decades before Daniel Radcliff. What I had forgotten (until I did my fact-checking) was that as a child he was in the Double Deckers.

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 14/11/2009 23:34

Aww, Harry before he entered the world of secrecy and double-dealing

daisy99divine · 14/11/2009 23:49

Young but strangely recognisable! (Harry that is)

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 15/11/2009 00:23

Yes indeed. I wouldn't, though, have recognised the bloke from Aswad.

thumbwitch · 15/11/2009 13:14

oooooh, UniS, a word of caution re The Aristocats - a friend of mine ended up "losing" their copy of it because the music drove her nuts after thrice daily repetitions of it for some time. Too much sappy music = a Bad Thing.

Despite that, MiniThumb loves Happy Feet - or "peggwins" as it is known here - and can be reliably left to his own devices in front of it for some time. For some reason the music is less irritating in that film.
Can't believe he is going to be 2 soon...

Bambi is on our "banned" list - I was too traumatised as a child when the mummy deer gets shot - possibly Dumbo too - same problem, mummy-loss.

Glad you all pretty much escaped unscathed from the extreme weather - I was expecting more thunder/lightning here tonight as has been v. oppressive heavy day - but no luck yet. Going to be hot tomorrow so perhaps will get thunder etc. tomorrow night.

Bolly o'clock has passed here so perhaps I'll knock up a small jug of hot chocolate for anyone who would like some - plus some of MrThumb's most excellent chocolate-and-blueberry muffins.

daisy99divine · 15/11/2009 16:01

your friend got fed up with "everybody wants to be a cat"?

You need new friends!

Thanks for hot chocolate and muffins! Agree totally about Bambi and Dumbo, well I can't think of the scene of the Straining Trunks the the Cradling a Pink Baby Elephant without howling so I am sure not going to put DaisyBoy in front of it....

Looking forward to hearing about Gym's magic Sunday. It always makes me feel warm and happy having a vicarious Bunny Day

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 15/11/2009 17:44

I quite agree that anybody who does not love "everybody wants to be a cat" needs a soul transplant.

We have just been for an Uplifting Experience, looking at Art. Am now scoffing chocolate cookies and watching Annie Get Your Gun. We have seen it so often that MadBadBaby can perform nearly all of it, unprompted.

More hot chocolate, anyone?

UniS · 15/11/2009 19:57

I bring you, the tea room curry night.
On offer from me is chicken and banana kashmir. With fresh nann bread.

Settle in grab a pint , or glass of something more to your taste and let us scoff.

oh dear boy now looks sooo tired he has black rings and little bruise like marks under his eyes. I managed to get him to have 13 hours last night... such a pain he won't have an afternoon nap any more. In bed tonight at 6.30 and I'll not wake him before 7.30 ... its preschool morning and I have an meeting booked with someone so I do have to get him up unfortunately.

Dh has made contact, hes arrived and the hotel WiFi is slow but today meeting had free wifi & breakfast laid on so hes happy.

UniS · 15/11/2009 19:58

ohhh 4 weddings useless fact... I got married in the first church from 4 weddings, its not in Somerset, its in Surrey.

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 15/11/2009 20:11

Is that chicken and banana kashmir inspired by Gareth's duck a la banana, UniS? Anyway, Tea Room curry nights sound like an excellent idea to me. Yum, yum, scoff.

My 4 weddings claim to fame (very minor) is that I went to a carol service in the church in which Duckface decked the Hugh Grant character.

Great that UniSpouse has been in touch and that you've got Boy tucked up nice and early. Put your feet up. What'll you have to drink?

UniS · 15/11/2009 21:03

who is Gareth?? Its inspired by a veggie curry I once had in Liverpool a long time ago. And the chicken curry I made tonight - with out banana as had none in house.

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 15/11/2009 21:16

Gareth is the character in 4 Weddings whose demise prompts the funeral. In the funeral oration, they mention his adventurous cooking, such as duck a la banana. I think he would have appreciated my tuna and raspberry brulee.

Oh dear. I really have seen that film far too often, haven't I?

CMOTdibbler · 15/11/2009 21:27

Oh, bless Uniboy. They get sooooo tired it's amazing - DS will literally be falling over. But will fall asleep in the car, and then continue to nap still

UniS · 15/11/2009 22:12

Ahhh, that Gareth, yes you have seen that film tooooo often.

I'm hoping uniboy will fall asleep in car tomorrow, we are staying on after preschool to have dinner with a friend of Boy, then story, into PJs and into car. If I leave his blind down and bed in Ok state I may be able to transfer him still asleep if he nods off.

this is what boy has set his heart on for Christmas. Its on sale cheaper than Amazon in local farm supply shop , BiL may be able to get even better deal. Boy has only 559 more weeks of saving half his pocket money to get there. OR maybe Christmas will happen 1st.

Have had a lovely hug of hot choc while watching teh extras on teh Cars DVD. High school musical is next to arrive, so that will keep me occupied tomorrow evening I hope. Also on list I have Ballet shoes, Rize and Angelina Ballerina, going for adance themed week while DH is away.

daisy99divine · 15/11/2009 22:52

heck
I ate curry and posted and joined in but it is not here grrr

my 4 weddings claim to fame is that a friend of mine was not allowed to get married in the Duckface Decking church
But I can't quote Gareth's cooking skills, although now you say "duck a la banana" I hear it in melifluous scottish tones....

"Stop the clocks ... etc" [sob]
