Hello and welcome to the seventh incarnation of the tearoom.

If you have found us by chance and/or curiousity you must know that the tearoom is a virtual safe haven for all those seeking a friendly word, a good cuppa and plenty to snack on. By virtue of its magic nature, no food can cause any physical damage, so chocolate, alcohol, transfat and all such can be consumed guilt- (and magically calorie-) free.

We have a wide range of soft-furnishing to relax on; a lovely garden with a swing and a ha ha; a variety of animals; a spa and (for some unknown reason) an apidistra.

Everyone is welcome, if you have one child, ten or none at all. We are a tolerant and fisticuffs-free zone. Instead we employ our energies swooning at Mellors the Gardner cum handiman thinking a silly things to get up to.

Please come in and say hello. You never know, you may end up joining us ...

Justine knows I've rejoined just to be able to be amongst friends whilst I'm grieving, here and on the prayer chain. I'm not going anywhere near the SN debate or the SN boards, out of respect for people and their need to debate this for everyone. I'm embarrassed that this turned into a big hoo hah about me (as opposed to being like the Tea Room Ha Ha, I guess?) and feel that this needs to be a much much bigger question for mumsnet than 'what do we do with Amber', which seems entirely irrelevant really

Please may I have a cup of tea?

One big cuppa coming up. And a danish pastry too ?

I've been saving you a nice paper on fluid flow modelling - the reduction of a semi chaotic system to equations is very satisfying

amber32OO2 · 13/05/2009 10:01

Oh yes please to danish and mechanics paper. I'm very tired - do you mind if I use the priest hole for a nap?

CMOTdibbler · 13/05/2009 10:06

And miraculously a big duvet and memory foam matress bed have appeared in the priest hole. Have a good sleep

mistlethrush · 13/05/2009 10:15

Hello! Don't know how big the Priest hole really is - have you found the Rolls engine down there that Mellors dropped in for you?

MaryBS · 13/05/2009 10:34

Teafortwo, did you know Ricky Nelson then? I am most impressed that you got him to write a song for me! I am now wondering if I committed a social gaffe, coming in off the streets and making myself at home, masquerading as a vicar , it wasn?t intentional though! The Rev and I have met elsewhere, and of course I know Amber, so I DO know some of you!

I?m tiptoeing in btw, don?t want to wake Amber if she is sleeping. I hope you saved her a brownie, if not I?ll have to make some more!

If she wants a hand with the Rolls Royce engine, I don't mind rolling up my sleeves, I helped strip down a Morris Marina engine once, but I don't suppose its anything like that... more es

amber32OO2 · 13/05/2009 10:40

Mary! Have you been masquerading as a Vicar! Just because you almost are now nd take various services and bury people (not at the same time)...tsk

Sleeping on a Rolls Royce engine was a bit difficult - I kept rolling off - so I've come upstairs with the duvet to sit on the distressed sofa, if that's alright with everyone?

MaryBS · 13/05/2009 10:46

I was mistaken for justabout . I haven't been wearing a dog collar with my cassock again, HONEST!

thumbwitch · 13/05/2009 10:51

hello, welcome back amber, glad the hoo-ha hasn't put you off being here.

catita - please don't go anywhere, it isn't your fault it all kicked off.

MT - don't you go anywhere either. it't not your fault things you said were taken out of context; although (and I'm sorry if I sound like I'm being snotty, I'm trying not to) there were a couple of spiky things you said - but least said, soonest mended.

I feel like I caused half the kickoff anyway by trying to defend us, and the more I did it, the worse everything got, so apologies to one and all.

Now - chocolate brownie, strong mochaccino and the Grauniad cryptic crossword, I feel.
anyone care to join me?

mistlethrush · 13/05/2009 10:55

Cup of coffee anyone? I think there's some ginger cake too.

I rustled out a brownie for Amber yesterday - so if there are none left Mary, don't be too upset!

I don't know why I didn't mistake you for Justabout Mary - but I certainly didn't. Funny (peculiar) isn't it. MOST people do seem to stick with their 'normal' name and any name changes are fairly obvious - recently at least.

Amber - what are the bookcases like? And was Mellor's filing any good or has he done it by colour or size instead of make (or vice versa?)

amber32OO2 · 13/05/2009 11:07

Haven't looked back on the thread yet really - just taking time to settle in and hide under the duvet with the cake, but I'm sure the bookcases and filing are splendidly appropriate (as long as they're filed by the birth date of the author, of course)

mistlethrush · 13/05/2009 11:11

Amber - you don't need to read back! I'm not sure Mellors will have managed that scheme of filing though - might need a bit of sorting out. Perhaps you can get the nmbs on the case?

I've been meaning to ask, Catita - how is it going, are you still keeping to the house and that's all - are any supplies getting through etc etc.

thumbwitch · 13/05/2009 11:26

I agree with MT, amber - don't go back and read through the thread again, it won't help you.

amber32OO2 · 13/05/2009 11:29

Ok, I'll just read forwards from this bit, well, the bit where I rejoined today, if you see what I mean? Heck, is my being on here awkward? I can hide just on the prayer thread if that's better?

mistlethrush · 13/05/2009 11:42

No, absolutely not. Please stay!!! You might be able to help Justabout keep the bishops slightly more orderly!

I don't think that you missed anything of great importance apart from a great picture of UniSboy modelling a very fetching fascinator. Perhaps next time she posts you could have a quick peek?

Gone a bit overcast here now - I wonder whether we're in for the drizzle too?

The tree outside my window is now fully leaved which is lovely to watch - much more attractive than the black plastic flapping where its got caught on a branch - unfortunately much too high to be able to do anything about it...

CMOTdibbler · 13/05/2009 12:20

It's raining here. Oh joy, I get the M40 in the rain, which is particularly unpleasant for some reason.

Have packed now, done most of my presentations, and am now settling into a good fret about whether everything will be ready.

Dh despairs of my bookcases - they are totally random, both in subject and arrangement. His are neatly arranged in to subject, author, publication date, and has been known to rebuy books if all the books in the series are available as a uniform format

thumbwitch · 13/05/2009 12:33

amber it's lovely to have you here again.

CMOTD - your DH has some kind of OCD when it comes to books, does he?

It's drizzling here too - annoying, cos I wanted to hang the washing out on the line, as we are having the bathroom floor re-done this afternoon and I therefore can't use it to hang wet clothes in.

amber32OO2 · 13/05/2009 12:38

I've decided not to really look at any of the discussions. If there's important things, people would tell me

mistlethrush · 13/05/2009 12:43

Lewd roll anyone?

MellorsTheGardenerAndHandyman · 13/05/2009 12:54
CMOTdibbler · 13/05/2009 12:59

Not so much OCD, as just the way things should be apparently. This applies to a number of things in his life, and it's not that he is compelled for things to be thus, just that he is happier with them being correct, and finds patterns and order relaxing

thumbwitch · 13/05/2009 13:10

he's a scientist too, isn't he... I'm sure you've told us but even if you hadn't it makes sense... I admit to having all my CDs in alphabetical order by Artist's name or I can't find them. I have all my Terry Pratchetts in one place and in order too; but all the rest of my books are randomly spread around the numerous bookshelves in my house.

CMOTdibbler · 13/05/2009 13:12

Yes, by training and inclination, if not by employment

DontCallMeBaby · 13/05/2009 14:05

I can't believe what I've just done. I have accidentally left work at 1.30 instead of 2.30, and was all set to go and do the school run for 2.00 instead of 3.00. I only just realised as I was getting DD a snack in the kitchen (we're going straight for haircut, my life will not be worth living if I don't take her a snack) and the cooker clock read 14.00.

I think I need a lie down.
