Would anyone like a cup of tea and a muffin?

I'm tired and in need of refreshment.

The tea room is now officially open, serving hot chocolate, tea, freshly-squeezed orange juice and a range of home-baked muffins. Tablecloths and crockery are charmingly mismatched antiques (no Cath Kidston here). We overlook an attractive although somewhat overgrown garden, with a distant view of rolling countryside.

Everyone is welcome but house rules dictate that anyone indulging in fisticuffs will be ejected.

Please come in.

T42 fiddles in her bag... Can I ask your serious opinion... my dd is bridesmaid for my sister this Spring.... my sister bought dd this (pulls out dress) for a bridesmaid dress today...

minimode.co.uk/girls-collection-party-dress

what do you think??? Is it nice or no??? I suppose whatever way it isn't any business of mine - it is her wedding - her choice - but I just can't work out if I think it is nice or not???

Maybe I need to wait and see it on her!

I, on the otherhand, am lucky enough to be able to choose my own dress be dressed by mn!!!

Jacksmama · 14/11/2008 20:29

I like it - the colour is unusual for a little girl but I really like it!!

BoccaDellaVerita · 14/11/2008 21:02

Good evening everyone!

Oh. I'm sorry to see the aspidistra is gone - I was trying to grow the biggest aspidistra in the world - but I think it was doomed when it was fed gin instead of plant food. Thanks, jacksmama. The new plant looks very fine. As does the gardener.

tea and daisy - Thanks for joining me on the dancefloor last night. Once the three glitter balls start twirling I just have to get up and boogie. I am a bit worried though that my Saturday Night Fever moves might have scared off our new friends - has anyone seem bbpants or mrsmortenharket recently?

Anyway, Daisy was right, the gramophone was too unreliable. I've just invested in a shiny new sound system and stack of CDs for the tea room. Anyone want to work off the week's frustrations on the dance floor?

BoccaDellaVerita · 14/11/2008 21:07

Tea - Sorry! Forgot to say that the dress is very pretty but - unless the weddding is in the Caribbean - maybe a little bare for a spring wedding. My daughter was a bridesmaid in late spring and had a short sleeved dress. Even though she had a little shrug, by the time the photos had been taken she was almost blue with cold. So I think the dress is fine but, if you're having any part of the wedding outdoors, do think about a shrug or jacket too.

YAAAAAAAAAY - it is Friday!!!! Here are a few tracks to jump up and down to...

Teafortwo looks around - ooooh no-one is dancing.... OH NO.... she reaches for the emergency tracks... and places handbags on the dance floor to dance around...

BoccaDellaVerita · 14/11/2008 22:12

That's more like it, tea!

The others are great songs but don't really encourage people to strut their stuff (apart from that weird stompy dance that people used to do to Come On Eileen). From my emergency stock of you-can't-help-but-dance-to-this tracks, I give you this.

The glitter ball is turning, the music is blaring, Bocca has on her dancing shoes ...

Lets shout JACKS instead of your so the song is - "Take Jacksmama out one night"!!!!

And with that I must say good night because I do work Saturday mornings - and have to get up quite early!!!!

Keep enjoying your dancing Bocca!!!!

When I was a student this was always the last song on student nights at the local nightclub....

www.youtube.com/watch?v=LF8unwxhNho

We would all sort of lean or lay on each other and we used to joke that if you were there for that song you knew for sure (a) You haven't got lucky and won't (b) Your going to be hungover tomorrow but (c) You have lots of lovely lovely friends!!!!!!!! Aaaaaaaaaawwwww!!!!!

Maybe you could keep it on the cd shelf for later !!!! Unless you know the current last song - TBH I have no idea and I have no idea what the current first songs are either!!!! [feeling old emotion]

BoccaDellaVerita · 14/11/2008 22:40

Actually, I think I've got a blister. Thanks for all the fab music choices but I'm going to call it a night.

teafortwo · 15/11/2008 18:24

T42 Walks in dressed as Woody Guthrie. Hands Bocca some plasters and lends her her own walking stick Says "Lets have a rest from dancing now - or we will end up in the same place as madbad!!!!"

Next she quietly puts bbpants guitar back in the cafe, the whole Woody Guthrie outfit was a distraction to sneak it back in, and leaves the building!!!

daisy99divine · 15/11/2008 21:38

Hi you all
sorry to miss the dancing last night, the cafe is sadly quiet tonight...

Right, back up on serious questions - T42 I think the BM dress is probably lovely, the guff about it however is a bit sick making however I am with Bocca - not just a shrug I would get your DS a vest and tights as well - silk will not spoil the "shimmer" of the dress but will keep her warm - honestly, skiing long johns or if there is any part of the day outside the poor bunny with freeze!

We need JM with good Canadian winter sense here!

By the way JM I do feel for you about the whole cleaning up thing - my heavens I do - but you will feel worse on Sunday night...
hope the weekend is good

All the rest of you
"It's raining men" was always my favourite "its the end of the night, you aren't getting a shag might as well get messy" dance

Mind you, that gardener chap is still in the corner

Jacksmama · 15/11/2008 21:41

I love your song tea - and I'd love to be taken out some night, I can't remember the last time I went out at night with girlfriends. Probably before I was pregnant because once I was, the day ended at 7:30 pm. DH used to joke he didn't have a wife after 7:30 pm because I was always fast asleep on the couch. I guess I'll have to come across the pond for all of us to hit a pub though... well, maybe some day!!
Ciao for now bellas!!

Oh, I just had a thought... I've always wanted to ask, how did you all pick your MN names? Mine is fairly obvious... my son's name is Jack! Jackson, actually.

daisy99divine · 15/11/2008 22:00

where have the others gone?
no pag, no bbpants, no Bucharest, no Mrsthingy...

had a lovely day today btw, just feeling a bit more humand helps
me and DS alone (DH away for work) and very gentle day, spent so long lazing/ reading/ playing in bed breakfast was about 10 and then we went off to the park, ended up seeing loads of soldiers and marching, so one very happy DS!

teafortwo · 16/11/2008 11:47

Well in my country it is 12.45. DH is still in bed and DD is glued to her Beatrix Potter dvd... We are soooo lazy!!!

So I think I have time for a cup of tea before the market!

Mmmm... lovely!!!

Thanks for all the comments on the bridesmaid dress. My sister is a bit of a funky monkey (e.g she is dying a strip of her hair blue for her something blue for her wedding day) and so I have decided that dds quite funky bridesmaid dress reflects my sister's tastes well... I will see what happens with the tights and cardi - if nothing seems to be appearing I will ask if she minds if I buy her some - as all of your point on the skimpiness of the dress for the time of year is very valid!
Brrrrrrrrrrr!!!!

Glad you are feeling better Daisy!!!

cmotdibbler · 16/11/2008 21:31

Have been at parents for the weekend, sans DH but with DS. It has been very, very trying for a number of reasons.

so, anyone for a drink and a dance to cheer me up ?

daisy99divine · 16/11/2008 21:54

Yo Cmot!

I can't do the drinking yet, still a bit delicate of stomach, but yup to the dancing!!!

Let's start with Michael Jackson's Thriller (have you seen 13 going on 30?!?) then we can do Prince Charming (Adam Ant) and swing from the handy antler chandeliers that have so recently appeared in the cafe

hang on a sec, I'll dim the lights and put on the lava lamps and glitter balls

Do you want to share the trying bits, or just boogie it away???

cmotdibbler · 16/11/2008 22:02

Fabulous - lets do the zombie thang whilst I contemplate the memory of Adam Ant in that outfit...

In a nutshell - looks like Dad has got gangrene in one foot, my mums dementia is getting markedly worse and she now can't boil an egg (forgot how long it had been in the water), but the main thing is that she has got a lot more narky. Add to that a weekend with a 2.5 year old in a house which is totally toddler unfriendly and driving all of them another 4 hour round trip to see my Gt Aunt who my dad didn't see for 35 years, and I'm exhausted (oh yes, and Dad gets up at 5.15, which woke DS up, which wakes me up..) physically and emotionally.

daisy99divine · 16/11/2008 22:20

Oh heavens, Cmot, I am so very very sorry, that is one plate load of woe

Can your mum cope alone for much longer? Can your dad manage her with his foot?

And while not wishing to lower the tone here is some white paint to get that all important stripe across the nose

daisy99divine · 16/11/2008 22:21

In retrospect, seeing what lovely girl friends of my DS do to their dolls I am sure Adam Ant's stylist was a toddler - remember that awesome braided hair

cmotdibbler · 16/11/2008 22:27

At the moment they are coping - but dad thinks that in another year she'll be pretty disabled by it, and he would really struggle. I need to get onto their GP tomorrow and find out what the real score is, and push for them to assess mum properly. The complication is that they live 80 miles away, so its not that easy to keep an eye on things.

daisy99divine · 16/11/2008 22:38

Heavens, girl - I send strength
just remember that Ridicule is nothing to be Scared of!!

teafortwo · 16/11/2008 22:58

T42 pops in and offers cmot and daisy a mirror each-

cmot - look - img.thesun.co.uk/multimedia/archive/00520/SNN30BB04ANT-380_520206a.jpg

Daisy - look -
img.thesun.co.uk/multimedia/archive/00520/SNN30BB04ANT-380_520206a.jpg

T42 - breaks down - OH BLOODY HELL cnut - what a lot of crap you are having to deal with.

She rushes to hug cnut then stops - Urrrmmm She realising her mistake...

Hugging cnut is a bad idea firstly incase it gets me into even more trouble with the cool mn girls and also on a practical note incase any of that paint rubs off onto my clean on pyjamas! !!!!!

So instead I will smile... starts the music and blow a flamboyant new romantic style kiss as I leaves...

www.youtube.com/watch?v=1lCzIMacsEs

Good night - enjoy your party and I am guessing you will sleep veeeeeery veeeeeery well after all that Vanilla Vodka!!!!

daisy99divine · 16/11/2008 23:27

Heh T42 all we were missing was the Link - you are clearly young and cool and with it on the technology front

I do look rather marvellous don't I

you're not bad yourself Cmot!

daisy99divine · 16/11/2008 23:28
BoccaDellaVerita · 16/11/2008 23:43
teafortwo · 16/11/2008 23:53

Ha ha ha ha - I am so so so embarrassed - I can't believe I accidently called cmot... cnut!!!!

I have a friend who runs a jewelry shop - on the success of French connection using the letters - fcuk, for a while, she actually planned to call her shop cnut!!!!! - True story...!!! Unlike me who just called you it accidently, cmot!!!

Now - seriously - I MUST MUST MUST go to bed!!!!!

Good night my New Romantic friends!!!! If I said prayers I would say one for you cmot - but then again I wouldn't want to risk accidently saying cnut to God though, so maybe even if I did say them I wouldn't dare... I tell you what... instead I will just think about you now and then in your Adam Ant costume and hope that in someway it can help with the bigger things in your life right now!

Daisy - I can do links but can't strike out for toffee and often muck up emotions... funny, hey???? [smile) - he he he!!!
